The NFLPA is expected to file an emergency motion with the Second Circuit on Wednesday to appeal Elliott's six-game ban, which was reinstated Monday after a federal judge rescinded a temporary restraining order on the suspension, according to Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com.

The emergency motion likely amounts to a final effort by the NFLPA to overturn Elliott's suspension, with a ruling on that front expected to arrive by Friday. Even if Elliott is granted the legal injunction he's seeking, a suspension still wouldn't necessarily be off the table, as Breer notes that a larger case regarding the matter would continue to play out at the district-court level. Elliott would still be able to continue playing in that scenario, but at this time, he's tentatively in line to miss Sunday's game against the Chiefs and the Cowboys' subsequent five contests. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said earlier this week that Alfred Morris would serve as the team's starting running back if Elliott is indeed out Sunday, with Darren McFadden and Rod Smith also taking on enhanced roles in the offense.

Oliver ran for three yards on three carries in Sunday's 21-13 loss to New England.

Oliver, fresh off a hamstring injury, didn't do much in limited opportunities on Sunday. The fourth-year back has seen more than four touches in just one of five outings thus far this season. He seems firmly stuck as Los Angeles' third back behind Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler with just five offensive plays on Sunday.

Elliott's request for a stay of Monday's decision from district judge Katherine Failla was denied Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The first order of business by the NFLPA seemed like a long shot anyway, so Elliott's reps have moved on to an appeal in the Second Circuit, per Kate Hairopoulos of The Dallas Morning News. There's no telling when Elliott will be given another hearing at this stage, but his six-game suspension remains in place. In the meantime, the Cowboys will rely on Darren McFadden, Alfred Morris and Rod Smith to man the backfield.

Banyard was released by the Bills for the second time this month, this time in order to make room for new addition Kelvin Benjamin on the active roster. The 28-year-old back played primarily a special team's role with the Bills, taking the field three times this season.

Elliott and the NFLPA had 24 hours to respond to Monday's ruling, asking for a decision to be made by 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday. If the preceding is denied, the NFLPA "will have no choice but to seek relief from the Second Circuit," where an emergency motion for an injunction will be filed, pending appeal. At this time, there may still be a chance Elliott plays Week 9, assuming the needle in the legal battle trends in his direction in the coming days.

Perine failed to take the field for an offensive snap in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys.

It was the second straight week in which Perine failed to line up for a single offensive snap. It seems as if the Redskins are content moving forward with veterans Chris Thompson and Rob Kelley as the one-two punch in the backfield -- leaving Perine as a special teamer for the time being.

McFadden is expected to rejoin the gameday roster beginning in Week 9 now that Ezekiel Elliott's bid to have the courts overturn or delay his six-game suspension has been rejected. Elliott's group does have until very late Tuesday to exhaust all possible avenues, as there was a 24-hour window placed on the latest order.

The veteran back has yet to see a snap this season, being inactive for all seven games so far, but with Elliott now likely sidelined, the Cowboys will probably cash in the insurance policy McFadden represented. His upside is fairly significant running behind the Cowboys' all-world offensive line -- and don't forget that he topped 1,000 rushing yards in 2015 during his first season with Dallas -- but how the team divides touches between McFadden, Alfred Morris and Rod Smith has yet to be determined, making each RB a volatile fantasy asset until the situation becomes clearer.

Williams is expected to take on a larger role in the Miami backfield beginning Sunday against the Raiders after Jay Ajayi was traded to Philadelphia on Tuesday morning.

Kenyan Drake had six carries in the Week 8 loss to Baltimore, while Williams' only touch came on a reception out of the backfield. Since the start of the 2016 season, Williams has more catches (31) than Drake (12), so he may have the upper hand for passing-down work initially, but the competition for carries may be an ongoing battle between the two players in the wake of Ajayi's departure.

Drake will likely see an increased role in the Miami backfield beginning with Sunday's game against Oakland after Jay Ajayi was traded to Philadelphia on Tuesday morning.

In the Week 8 loss to Baltimore, Drake played 12 offensive snaps and carried a season-high six times for 22 yards against the Ravens. Look for the Dolphins to utilize a timeshare featuring Drake and Damien Williams in the coming weeks. Williams has caught 31 passes over the last two seasons, while Drake has caught 12, which could leave Williams in a position for more of the passing-down work initially while the duo battles for the larger share of the carries.

Anderson rushed 15 times for 78 yards and caught his lone target for seven yards in Monday night's 29-19 loss to the Chiefs.

Anderson led a rushing attack that averaged 5.7 yards per carry, but it was backup Devontae Booker who scored the team's lone ground touchdown. While game flow simply saw Anderson miss out on that opportunity, which could've provided his first score since Week 2, the veteran will still be pleased by having his best game overall since Week 4. Next up for Anderson, however, is a tough matchup against the Eagles.
