Christian McCaffrey RB | SF
Panthers' Christian McCaffrey: Features against Pats
McCaffrey rushed three times for 16 yards and caught one of his two targets for 10 yards in Thursday night's 10-3 preseason loss to the Patriots.
McCaffrey's first and likely only taste of the preseason included just three drives, but saw him rip off a long run of 13 yards while also gaining a first down through the air. The dual-threat dynamo will probably now sit Carolina's final exhibition outing before preparing for a Week 1 clash against the Rams to kick off his hotly anticipated third professional campaign.

Corey Clement RB | ARI
Eagles' Corey Clement: Returns to start preseason game
Clement (knee) rushed seven times for 18 yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game in Thursday's 26-15 preseason loss to the Ravens.
Clement got the start with Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders taking the night off, suggesting he's over the knee injury that had been bothering him up to this point. Josh Adams also got seven carries in this one, and diminutive receiving back Darren Sproles remains in the mix as well, so there's no shortage of bodies for Philadelphia to sort through before the season starts. Mike Kaye of NJ.com believes Clement's return to health locks him in for a spot on the 53-man roster.

Rodney Anderson RB | CIN
Bengals' Rodney Anderson: Mixed bag in NFL debut
Anderson (knee) made his NFL debut in Thursday's 25-23 preseason loss to the Giants, gaining seven yards on eight carries and catching all four of his targets for 51 yards.
Anderson turned in a forgettable performance on the ground in his return from a torn ACL, but the rookie was effective as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. The 2019 sixth-rounder out of Oklahoma was once a highly-touted prospect before his injury troubles, so Cincinnati will likely hang onto Anderson and allow him to get back to full strength in a depth role behind workhorse Joe Mixon and pass-catcher Giovani Bernard. Such an arrangement wouldn't offer much short-term fantasy value, though.

Aaron Jones RB | MIN
Packers' Aaron Jones: Will sit Thursday after all
Due to less than ideal field conditions, Jones and the rest of the Packers' starters will not play in Thursday's preseason game against the Raiders.
Jones was slated to make his preseason debut and play to play a series in the contest, but he won't suit up after all due to issue with the field in Winnipeg. Jamaal Williams will also sit out, likely leading to plenty of Dexter Williams and Tre Carson reps.

Ronald Jones RB | DAL
Buccaneers' Ronald Jones: Could play Friday
Jones overcame knee soreness and swelling to practice both Tuesday and Wednesday and could play versus the Browns in Friday's preseason game, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Jones suffered a likely hyperextension of his left knee in last Friday's preseason contest against the Dolphins, but his return to the field Tuesday and Wednesday certainly indicates he experienced at least some improvement. Coach Bruce Arians wouldn't commit to Jones suiting up against Cleveland when asked about his second-year running back Wednesday, however, leaving open the possibility of holding Jones out at his discretion in what would be his last likely opportunity to play behind the first-team offensive line this preseason.

Kenyan Drake RB | GB
Dolphins' Kenyan Drake: Gets some jogging in
Drake (foot) shed his walking boot Thursday and was spotted jogging, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
Drake has been dealing with a foot issue that is not considered structural, so this nugget is a good sign for his chances of mounting an effort to be ready for Week 1. Until Drake is able to practice, however, Kalen Ballage will handle the Dolphins' first-team reps, with Mark Walton next up in the team's running back pecking order.

Ezekiel Elliott RB | LAC
Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Team makes contract offer
Elliott has reportedly been offered a contract by the Cowboys that would make him him one of the NFL's two highest-paid running backs, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.
Werder notes that such contract terms would mean that the Cowboys are offering Elliott more than what LeVeon Bell gets from the Jets and less than what the Rams pay Todd Gurley. It remains to be seen if the star back is lured back by this latest offer, but if the report is accurate, it's at least indicative of some movement toward potentially ending Elliot's holdout in advance of the team's Sept. 8 regular-season opener against the Giants.

Derrick Henry RB | BAL
Titans' Derrick Henry: Could make preseason appearance
Henry (calf) looked good at Thursday's practice, giving him a shot to play in a preseason game against Pittsburgh on Saturday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Coach Mike Vrabel said the Titans are in rush to make a decision, still wanting to see how Henry responds the next couple days. The 25-year-old running back returned to practice earlier this week for the first time since suffering a calf strain at the beginning of training camp. Henry appears on track for Week 1, regardless of his preseason involvement.
-
Saquon Barkley RB | PHI
Giants' Saquon Barkley: Held out again
Barkley won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
Barkley has been healthy throughout the offseason program and training camp, logging plenty of time on the practice field. His absence Thursday leaves more work for the players competing to be his backup -- Wayne Gallman, Paul Perkins and Rod Smith.

Latavius Murray RB | BUF
Saints' Latavius Murray: Misses practice Thursday
Murray (undisclosed) didn't practice Thursday, Herbie Teope of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Per the report, it's not clear why Murray was absent, but it's possible the running back is simply getting a veteran rest day. When healthy, Murray is in line to serve as a complementary option behind the Saints' top back, Alvin Kamara.
