Mixon (foot) was spotted rehabbing on a side field at Wednesday's practice, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.

Mixon isn't ready to resume participating in team drills, but it's at least encouraging to see that he's handling rehab work. Ben Baby of ESPN.com noted that coach Zac Taylor has been heartened by the running back's progress, but Mixon will still likely need to upgrade his practice activity over the next two days to have a shot at playing Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Gibson didn't practice Wednesday due to a shoulder injury, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.

Gibson is coming off a career-low nine touches in Sunday's loss to the Giants, resulting in 55 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown. His offensive snap share (46 percent) wasn't out of the norm, but perhaps the shoulder issue forced Washington to use J.D. McKissic a bit more (12 touches, 83 percent share). In any case, Gibson's status will be one to watch as the weekend approaches to get a sense of his availability for Week 10.

The report notes that coach Zac Taylor has been encouraged by the running back's progress, with Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site suggesting that Mixon could return to action as soon as Sunday against the Steelers. Mixon hasn't played since Week 6 due to the right foot injury.

Drake (ankle) was spotted at practice Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Heading into the week, coach Kliff Kingsbury deemed Drake day-to-day, and the running back's participation in practice Wednesday -- in any capacity -- confirms that he's moving in the right direction as Sunday's game against the Bills approaches. Another update on Drake's status will be available later Wednesday, when the Cardinals reveal the extent of his practice participation.

Coach Kevin Stefanski indicated that Chubb (knee) is "progressing," while adding that the Browns will make a call Friday on whether the running back will be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Texans, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.

The Browns designated Chubb to return from IR earlier this week, so he'll continue practicing Wednesday as the team continues to assess whether he's fit to return to the game action this weekend. If added back to the 53-man roster, Chubb would rejoin a backfield that also includes Kareem Hunt, who has been handling a three-down role while Chubb has been sidelined for the past four games.

McCaffrey's right shoulder injury is expected to sideline him for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Per David Newton of ESPN.com, the running back won't practice Wednesday and is seeking a second opinion on his shoulder injury, which he sustained in Sunday's 33-31 loss to the Chiefs in his return from a six-game absence due to a high-ankle sprain. Schefter suggests that McCaffrey is considered week-to-week at this stage, so he could end up missing time beyond this Sunday. Assuming McCaffrey is indeed officially ruled out by the Panthers later this week, Mike Davis would once again fill in as the team's feature back, as he did when McCaffrey was out earlier this season.

Coach Matt Rhule gave McCaffrey the vague "day-to-day" label after the running back suffered a painful shoulder injury Sunday in the Panthers' 33-31 loss to the Chiefs. The outing was McCaffrey's first since Week 2, when he suffered a high-ankle sprain that sidelined him for the Panthers' next six games. While McCaffrey's shoulder issue doesn't yet look to be nearly as much of a concern, David Newton of ESPN.com notes that the 24-year-old is set to receive a second opinion on the injury, putting his availability for this weekend's game against the Buccaneers in doubt. McCaffrey will likely need to practice Thursday or Friday on at least a limited basis to have a realistic shot at playing against Tampa Bay, but if not, Mike Davis would step in as the Panthers' feature back.

Boone posted one tackle on 18 special-teams snaps, but he logged zero offensive snaps during Sunday's 34-20 win against the Lions.

The third-year back out of Cincinnati collected a combined four offensive touches between Weeks 5 and 6, with Dalvin Cook's inactive designation Oct. 18 against the Falcons due to a groin injury providing extra opportunity for the backup committee. With Cook returning to the fold after Minnesota's Week 7 bye, Boone hasn't fielded an offensive snap since. Boone remains the Vikings' No. 3 back behind Cook and Alexander Mattison heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Bears' 14th-ranked rush defense.

Hill collected three tackles on 17 special-teams snaps, registering zero carries or targets on three offensive plays during Sunday's 24-10 win against the Colts.

With rookie second-round draft choice J.K. Dobbins now a member of Baltimore's backfield, Hill has gone without a rush attempt in 2020 after fielding 58 during his debut NFL season out of Oklahoma State last year. After dealing with a thigh injury throughout much of September, Hill has made game appearances in Weeks 4, 6, 8 and 9 while registering five total tackles on special teams. His offensive role is likely to remain obsolete, barring an injury ahead of him on the RB depth chart.

Freeman did not garner a single rush attempt or target during Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Falcons, fielding one offensive snap and 22 special-teams snaps.

The third-year back has gone without an offensive touch in consecutive outings, after collecting 14 combined carries and four receptions over three outings between Weeks 4 and 7. With Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay posing a formidable duo atop Denver's backfield, Freeman's offensive role figures to remain relatively remote in closely contested games. Freeman will slot in as the Broncos' third-string running back heading into a Week 10 matchup against the division rival Raiders.
