Wilson (knee) was placed on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday by the 49ers, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.

With Wilson set to miss at least the first six weeks of the season after undergoing surgery on a torn meniscus in late May, this move more or less was expected. Meanwhile, the 49ers opted to cut Wayne Gallman after the preseason. Raheem Mostert and Trey Sermon are slated to head the backfield, with JaMycal Hasty and Elijah Mitchell on hand for any reps that remain.

Igwebuike secured a spot on the Lions' initial 53-man roster, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.

The converted safety apparently showed enough promise to make the team over Dedrick Mills and Craig Reynolds. While Igwebuike won't see many touches on offense unless Jamaal Williams or Jermar Jefferson joins D'Andre Swift (groin) on the injury report, Igwebuike should contribute on special teams right away.

Laird was waived by the Dolphins on Tuesday.

Laird appeared in 31 games for Miami over the past two seasons and totaled 75 carries for 140 yards while catching 33 passes for 272 yards and one total touchdown. Myles Gaskin, Malcolm Brown and Salvon Ahmed will open the 2021 campaign on the 53-man roster for the Dolphins.

Doaks was waived by the Dolphins on Tuesday.

The rookie seventh-round pick was unable to show enough during the preseason to secure a place on Miami's initial season-opening roster. Doaks could still be in the mix for a spot on the practice squad if he goes through waivers unclaimed.

Mills was waived by Detroit on Tuesday, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.

The Lions ended up keeping four running backs on the roster, but the last spot on the depth chart went to converted safety Godwin Igwebuike, who has apparently impressed the team in his conversion to the backfield. However, if Mills isn't claimed by another team off waivers, he's a strong candidate for a spot on the practice squad.

The Ravens waived McCrary on Tuesday.

McCrary was signed as an UDFA by the Ravens this offseason. The Saginaw Valley State running back rushed for 1,060 yards and 10 touchdowns on just 167 carries during his 2019 campaign. He did not play in 2020, as Saginaw Valley State did not have a season due to COVID-19. The Ravens will likely sign him to their practice squad if he clears waivers.

Akers (Achilles) was officially placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

After Akers tore his Achilles while working out in advance of training camp in July, there was hope on the Rams' part that he'd be able to return at some point this season, but in the end the expected outcome has come to pass for the second-year running back. He'll thus miss the season while a combination of Darrell Henderson (thumb) and Sony Michel lead L.A.'s backfield.

Coach Joe Judge said the Giants won't make any decision on Barkley (knee) and his status for the season opener until next week, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

The Giants will take it down to the wire, though recent signs have all been positive, with Barkley participating in full-team drills at the end of last week before going through pregame warmups ahead of Sunday's exhibition loss to the Patriots. The next big step is to shed his non-contract jersey, something Judge has mentioned as a 'must' before Barkley can be cleared to play in a game. For what it's worth, the Giants' initial 53-man roster includes just three tailbacks, with Barkley followed by free-agent addition Devontae Booker and rookie sixth-round pick Gary Brightwell, though fullback Elijhaa Penny also has some experience as a ballcarrier.

Ozigbo has been waived by the Jaguars.

Ozigbo ended up being the odd man out in the Jaguars' backfield, though if he goes unclaimed, he could resurface with the team in some capacity. Jacksonville's top three RBs following initial cut-downs are James Robinson, Carlos Hyde and Dare Ogunbowale.

The Vikings waived Bargas on Tuesday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Bargas spent his rookie season with the Vikings where he played a minimal role in one game and spent most of the season on the practice squad. With C.J. Ham ahead of Bargas on the depth chart, it was unlikely that Minnesota was going to keep two fullbacks. The 24-year-old fullback could potentially rejoin the Vikings practice squad if he isn't claimed off waivers.
