  • Ronald Jones RB | DAL

Buccaneers' Ronald Jones: Picks up ankle injury

Jones exited Sunday's game against the Jets with an ankle injury, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

Jones had 10 carries for 26 yards and caught his lone target for one yard before suffering the injury during the third quarter. Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Le'Veon Bell should split the backfield work for the Bucs while Jones is sidelined.

  • James Conner RB | ARI

Cardinals' James Conner: Another absence Sunday

Conner (heel) is inactive for Sunday's game at Dallas, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

There was a glimmer of hope for Conner to return to action after he managed a limited practice Friday, his first appearance on the field since picking up a heel injury back in Week 15. While he was considered a game-time decision for a second straight contest, he'll log another DNP on his game log. Conner thus will hand most of the backfield reps to Chase Edmonds, who notched 24 touches for 127 yards yards from scrimmage and one TD in Week 16 against the Colts.

  • Qadree Ollison RB | PIT

Falcons' Qadree Ollison: Questionable to return Sunday

Ollison (quadriceps) is questionable to return Sunday against the Bills, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Ollison rushed three times for 19 yards before leaving the game with the apparent quadriceps injury. If he is unable to return, Mike Davis and Cordarrelle Patterson will be the only healthy running backs available for the Falcons.

  • Melvin Gordon RB | BAL

Broncos' Melvin Gordon: Active for Sunday's contest

Gordon (thumb/hip) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

The same applies to fellow RB Javonte Williams (knee), with the two players once again in line to share backfield work. A Week 17 bounce-back opportunity could be on tap for both backs (who each carried just seven times last weekend versus the Raiders) against a Chargers defense that's allowing an average of 140.3 rushing yards per game to date.

  • Broncos' Javonte Williams: Active for Week 17

Williams (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

So is fellow running back Melvin Gordon (thumb/hip). As a result, the duo is in line to once again share backfield work Sunday, with a Week 17 bounce-back opportunity on tap for both players (who put up modest production last weekend versus the Raiders) against a Chargers defense that's allowing an average of 140.3 rushing yards per game to date.

  • 49ers' Elijah Mitchell: Returning to action Sunday

Mitchell (knee) is active for Sunday's game versus the Texans, Keiana Martin of the 49ers' official site reports.

Making his first appearance since Week 13, Mitchell may have some conditioning issues considering he dealt with a concussion and a knee injury during that stretch. Still, he's been the most effective 49ers running back by a long shot this season, averaging 4.6 yards on his 165 carries, reeling in 17 of 18 targets for 126 yards and scoring five touchdowns on the ground in nine appearances. Fellow RB Jeff Wilson ran for 4.4 yards per rush during Mitchell's three-game absence, so Mitchell could yield some reps to the former if he's not yet in top form.

  • Michael Carter RB | TEN

Jets' Michael Carter: Won't return to action Sunday

Carter won't return to Sunday's game against the Buccaneers after suffering a concussion, Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports.

Prior to being forced out of the contest, Carter had recorded three carries for 54 yards and one catch for nine yards. In his absence, Austin Walter and Ty Johnson will handle the Jets' Week 17 backfield duties.

  • Michael Carter RB | TEN

    Jets' Michael Carter: Possible concussion

Carter is being evaluated for a possible concussion during Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Prior to that, Carter had logged three carries for 54 yards and one catch for nine yards. Next up for the Jets' Week 17 carries in his absence are Austin Walter and Ty Johnson.

  • Salvon Ahmed RB | CHI

Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Inactive for Week 17

Ahmed is inactive for Sunday's game against the Titans.

With Ahmed inactive Sunday and the odd man out in Miami's backfield for now, the team's Week 17 running back corps will be led by Duke Johnson, Myles Gaskin and Phillip Lindsay.

  • Marlon Mack RB | ARI

    Colts' Marlon Mack: Inactive Sunday

Mack (coach's decision) will not play Sunday against the Raiders.

Mack has not played since Week 8 against the Titans. He'll work to earn a chance to suit up in Week 18 against the Jaguars.
