Boston Scott RB | PIT
Eagles' Boston Scott: Returns to practice
Scott (rib) returned to practice Wednesday as a limited participant.
Scott's limited activity seemingly gives him a shot to return for Sunday's game in Arizona, after his absence from the Week 4 win over Jacksonville helped Miles Sanders set career highs for carries (27) and rushing yards (134). Kenneth Gainwell more or less handled his usual role in terms of both snap share and touches, but it's possible he gets somewhat more involved if Scott misses another game.

Breece Hall RB | NYJ
Jets' Breece Hall: Dealing with minor knee injury
Hall was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a knee injury, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Head coach Robert Saleh included Hall and quarterback Zach Wilson (ankle) in the group of players dealing with "nicks and bruises" ahead of a home game against Miami this Sunday. The rookie running back more than doubled his previous high with 17 carries in a Week 4 win over Pittsburgh, with his snap share (66 percent) and rushing yardage (66) also easily representing new personal bests. Michael Carter still has a role, but Hall looks like the better Week 5 fantasy play -- assuming the knee injury isn't a major factor -- in light of his increased usage at Carter's expense last week.

Alvin Kamara RB | NO
Saints' Alvin Kamara: Another limited practice
Kamara (ribs) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday.
Like he did last week prior to being inactive this past Sunday versus the Vikings in London, Kamara had a cap on his practice reps. He'll have opportunities to bump up to full activity Thursday and Friday, after which the Saints may give him a game-day designation for Sunday's contest against the Seahawks. Mark Ingram again would be the main beneficiary if Kamara is limited or out this weekend, with Dwayne Washington and Tony Jones representing the other running backs on New Orleans' active roster.

David Montgomery RB | HOU
Bears' David Montgomery: Not practicing Wednesday
Montgomery (ankle) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
Montgomery didn't practice last week due to knee and ankle injuries on his right leg before sitting out the Bears' eventual Week 4 loss to the Giants. This time around, he's only listed with an ankle issue, but it's still keeping him out of drills. Montgomery will have two more chances to get on the field this week, at which point the team may make a ruling on his availability for Sunday's game at Minnesota. If Montgomery requires another absence this weekend, Khalil Herbert will be the primary beneficiary out of the backfield, with rookie sixth-round pick Trestan Ebner available for any lingering touches.

Alvin Kamara RB | NO
Saints' Alvin Kamara: Present at practice Wednesday
Kamara (rib) took part in practice Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Despite logging three limited practices during Week 4 prep, Kamara was unavailable for this past Sunday's loss to the Vikings in London due to the injury. The extent of his activity level Wednesday isn't yet known, but if he handles all the reps, he'll be in line to lead the Saints backfield moving forward.

D'Andre Swift RB | CHI
Lions' D'Andre Swift: Not at practice
Swift (shoulder) isn't practicing Wednesday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
All five of Detroit's starting skill-position players were held out of practice, including three (Swift, Amon-Ra St. Brown, DJ Chark) who missed last Sunday's shootout loss to Seattle. With a bye coming up Week 6, it won't be surprising if the Lions err on the side of caution with Swift this Sunday in New England, especially after Jamaal Williams scored two more touchdowns in the Week 4 loss. That said, the Lions haven't ruled out any of the injured players from suiting up this weekend, including Swift.
-
Justice Hill RB | BAL
Ravens' Justice Hill: Held out of practice
Hill (hamstring) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
Head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that he doesn't believe Hill suffered a long-term injury in last week's loss to the Bills, though the running back is expected to miss some time. He was productive off the bench behind J.K. Dobbins the past two weeks, taking 14 carries for 105 yards against the Patriots and Bills. The Ravens have Mike Davis and Kenyan Drake for depth while Hill is unavailable.
-
Gus Edwards RB | LAC
Ravens' Gus Edwards: Returning to practice
The Ravens designated Edwards (knee) to return from the PUP list Wednesday, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.
The transaction allows Edwards to resume practicing as he works his way back from the torn ACL that forced him to miss the 2021 season. The Ravens will have a 21-day window during which Edwards can be evaluated from a return to the 53-man roster. In the absence of any setbacks, Edwards will have a chance to reclaim a key complementary role in Baltimore's backfield, which is currently led by J.K. Dobbins. It's unclear if Edwards has a chance to be available for Sunday's game against the Bengals.

Nyheim Miller-Hines RB | NO
Colts' Nyheim Hines: Should see added work Thursday
Hines and Phillip Lindsay are expected to lead the Colts' rushing corps Thursday against the Broncos with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) ruled out for the Week 5 contest, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Hines, who has logged eight carries and 17 catches through his first four games, represents an alternative option to those who roster Taylor or are looking for some short-term backfield depth. Meanwhile, Lindsay will likely be elevated from the Colts' practice squad ahead of Thursday's contest and could also factor in Thursday. Deon Jackson is on hand as another depth option in the backfield.
-
Jonathan Taylor RB | IND
Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Won't play Thursday
Taylor (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Broncos.
With Taylor set to miss his first game since his rookie season, Nyheim Hines is in line for added touches. Meanwhile, Deon Jackson is available in reserve, though he's played almost exclusively on special teams during his career and could cede No. 2 duties behind Hines to Phillip Lindsay, who represents a possible practice squad elevation. Taylor's next chance to suit up for game action will arrive Week 6, when Indianapolis hosts Jacksonville.
