  • D'Andre Swift RB | CHI

Lions' D'Andre Swift: Out until Week 7

Swift (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Swift hasn't practiced since injuring his shoulder Week 3, but there's a good chance he'll be ready after Detroit's early bye Week 6. First, Jamaal Williams will get another fill-in start for the Lions, with Craig Reynolds and Justin Jackson available off the bench.

  • Boston Scott RB | PIT

Eagles' Boston Scott: Questionable to face Cardinals

Scott (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Arizona.

Scott's status mostly is of fantasy interest insofar as it relates to Miles Sanders' value. With Scott out last week, Sanders had career highs for carries and rushing yards in a win over the Jaguars, while Kenneth Gainwell merely handled his usual role off the bench. Sanders now has a firm grip on the lead role, but he could lose some snaps if Scott avoids the inactive list ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Tony Pollard RB | TEN

Cowboys' Tony Pollard: Questionable due to illness

Pollard missed Friday's practice due to an illness and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Patrick Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.

The end-of-week addition to the injury report could set up a game-time decision ahead of the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday, though Pollard shouldn't be in danger of missing more than the one game because of an illness. If Pollard isn't available, Ezekiel Elliott likely would handle more than his usual 60-65 percent of snaps, with Rico Dowdle providing support off the bench.

  • Alvin Kamara RB | NO

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Questionable for Week 5

Kamara (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Seattle after practicing on a limited basis Wednesday through Friday this week, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Kamara missed two of the past three games, including last week in London after following the same practice routine (limited participation every day). Mark Ingram and Latavius Murray both topped 40 percent snap share in the loss to Minnesota, but with Murray now gone to the Broncos, the Saints might turn back to Tony Jones as the complement to Ingram if Kamara can't play. The Saints will release their inactive list around 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, and they've already revealed that it'll include WR Michael Thomas (foot, out) and likely QB Jameis Winston (back/ankle, doubtful).

  • Justice Hill RB | BAL

Ravens' Justice Hill: Ruled out for Week 5

Hill (hamstring) won't play Sunday versus the Bengals.

Hill emerged from Week 4 with a hamstring issue that kept him out of practice Wednesday through Friday. On Monday, coach John Harbaugh noted Hill was expected to miss some time, and indeed the reserve running back will log at least one DNP. If the Ravens don't activate Gus Edwards (knee) from the reserve/PUP list ahead of Sunday's game, Mike Davis and Kenyan Drake will serve as the options behind lead runner J.K. Dobbins.

  • Bears' David Montgomery: Questionable to face Vikings

Montgomery (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Minnesota.

Montgomery was a limited practice participant Thursday and Friday, potentially setting up a game-time decision ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Possibilities include Montgomery returning but in a less dominant role, after Khalil Herbert again proved himself to be one of the better backup RBs in the league the past two weeks. The Bears have Trestan Ebner to spell Herbert if Montgomery misses a second straight game after spraining his ankle early in the Week 3 contest.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Optimism regarding Week 6 status

Following Thursday's 12-9 win over the Broncos, coach Frank Reich indicated the Colts are optimistic that Taylor (ankle) can return to action Week 6, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.

With the Colts on a short week, Taylor will have some added recovery time ahead of the team's Oct. 16 game against the Jaguars. Meanwhile, Nyheim Hines is in the NFL's concussion protocol after exiting Thursday's contest early, a context that resulted in Deon Jackson and Phillip Lindsay handling the bulk of Indianapolis' rushing duties Week 5.

  • Dameon Pierce RB | PHI

Texans' Dameon Pierce: On bench during crunch time

Houston offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton discussed the running back rotation, which has Pierce on the bench late in games, Drew Dougherty of the Texans' official site reports. "Just like with any young player, it's not always in the best interest of the unit to put them in those situations," Hamilton said.

Close watchers of the Texans, including fantasy managers who start Pierce, have observed veteran Rex Burkhead being on the field late in games in favor of the rookie. Burkhead's experience is handy in certain situations -- typically when the Texans want to present a passing threat or intend to throw -- but Hamilton acknowledged Pierce as the "ability to process the information" and could be on the field in passing formations. This could be a case where the coaches don't want to put too much on Pierce early on, but as the season progresses, he'll evolve into a three-down, full-game back.

  • Mike Boone RB | MIA

Broncos' Mike Boone: Garners 87 total yards in loss

Boone rushed seven times for 38 yards and secured all three targets for 47 yards during the Broncos' 12-9 overtime loss to the Colts on Thursday night.

Boone served as the No. 2 running back behind Melvin Gordon as expected, and turned in an ideal complementary effort that allowed him to flash his impressive pass-catching skills. The 27-year-old should enjoy a similar role moving forward in the absence of Javonte Williams (IR-knee), although the presence of Latavius Murray as an early-down complement to Gordon could cap Boone's overall opportunity in the offense.

  • Deon Jackson RB | DET

Colts' Deon Jackson: Solid with extended opportunity

Jackson rushed 13 times for 62 yards and brought in all four targets for 29 yards in the Colts' 12-9 overtime win over the Broncos on Thursday night.

Jackson stepped up with a team-high rushing yardage tally in the absence of Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and also put in impressive work as a receiver. The undrafted second-year back was also the beneficiary of extra opportunity due to Nyheim Hines' early exit from the game with a concussion, and he outproduced veteran backfield mate Phillip Lindsay by 22 rushing yards on only two additional carries. If Taylor is unable to suit up for a Week 6 home divisional rematch with the Jaguars a week from Sunday, Jackson looks like the likeliest candidate to take on the lead early-down role in that contest.
