  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Productive in Week 18 win

Wilson rushed 16 times for 72 yards and secured both targets for two yards in the Dolphins' 11-6 win over the Jets on Sunday.

Wilson and backfield mate Raheem Mostert (thumb) consistently made inroads against a Jets run defense that had its share of trouble on the road most of the season. Wilson's long run was a relatively modest 16 yards, so he consistently garnered productive gains in support of rookie starting quarterback Skylar Thompson. Wilson should once again have a key role in next weekend's wild-card road matchup against the Bills -- especially if Mostert is limited or sidelined -- as Miami undoubtedly endeavors to keep the ball out of the hands of Josh Allen and his explosive skill-position weapons as much as possible.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Finishes with 1,461 scrimmage yards

Stevenson rushed six times for 54 yards and caught five of six targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 35-23 loss to the Bills.

Stevenson was far more effective than Damien Harris (13 carries for 48 yards), yet Harris got more rushing attempts in this must-win game. New England was eliminated from playoff contention with the loss. Stevenson's success in a workhorse role while Harris was out helped the second-year running back post 1,040 rushing yards and 421 receiving yards, along with six scrimmage touchdowns on 279 touches. Harris is set to be a free agent in 2023, so Stevenson could be in line for a substantial bump in usage.

  • Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Scores twice in finale

Mattison rushed 10 times for 54 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 29-13 win over the Bears.

Mattison's season-best performance included a pair of one-yard touchdowns. With Minnesota opting to rest its starters during the second half, Mattison filled Dalvin Cook's lead tailback role to begin the third quarter. Once the Vikings take the field in the playoffs, however, Mattison should return to his usual backup job.

  • Nick Chubb RB | HOU

Browns' Nick Chubb: Tops 100 total yards to end season

Chubb rushed the ball 12 times for 77 yards in Sunday's 28-14 loss to the Steelers. He added five receptions on six targets for 45 yards and a touchdown.

Chubb paced the Browns backfield in carries and yards, though he ended up with fewer than 15 carries for the fifth time in his last nine games. Despite facing a tough Pittsburgh run defense, he managed to work efficiently and ripped off big gains of 19 and 15 yards. Chubb also tallied his 13th total touchdown and first receiving score of the season on a two-yard catch early in the fourth quarter. He ends the campaign with 1,520 rushing yards -- the highest mark of his career -- and will be back to lead the Cleveland backfield in 2023.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Only plays first half

Cook rushed 11 times for 37 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 29-13 win over the Bears. He also caught his only target for no gain.

Cook's involvement was limited to the first half, as the Vikings decided to rest their offensive starters after halftime. While that situation opened the door for backup Alexander Mattison to rush 10 times for 54 yards and two touchdowns, Cook didn't have his best performance prior to being rested, as he was held under 40 rushing yards for the second straight week and lost his fourth fumble of the campaign. Nonetheless, Cook figures to reclaim his leading tailback role once Minnesota takes the field in the playoffs.

  • Bills' Devin Singletary: Finishes with 1,099 scrimmage yards

Singletary rushed seven times for 29 yards, caught his only target for three yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 35-23 win over the Patriots.

Singletary split carries with James Cook, which could remain the case in the wild-card round against the Dolphins. The former didn't help his chances of an increased workload with a third-quarter fumble, which set the Patriots up with an instant red-zone opportunity in a tie game. Singletary wraps up his fourth NFL regular season with 819 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 177 attempts, as well as 38 catches for 280 yards and one touchdown on 52 targets.

  • Chuba Hubbard RB | CAR

Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Tops 20 carries

Hubbard rushed 21 times for 69 yards in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Saints.

Hubbard's season high in carries came after teammate D'Onta Foreman was ejected early in the third quarter. Although he wasn't very efficient with his involvement Sunday, Hubbard's importance behind Foreman grew this season after the Panthers traded Christian McCaffrey in October. In 15 games, Hubbard rushed 95 times for 466 yards (4.9 per carry) for two touchdowns, and caught 14 of 17 targets for 171 yards. Despite Carolina facing uncertainty over their coach, quarterback and starting tailback next season -- when it's unclear whether Foreman will return -- Hubbard's dependability through his first two seasons could see him remain involved as a complementary option regardless of the surrounding pieces.

  • Khalil Herbert RB | NYJ

Bears' Khalil Herbert: Strong rushing totals in 2022

Herbert rushed 10 times for 50 yards in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18 , and he ended the season with 129 carries for 731 yards and four touchdowns along with nine receptions, 57 yards and another score over 13 games played.

Herbert was beginning to see his role in the offense increase beginning in Week 7 before he suffered a hip injury that caused him to miss four games beginning in Week 10. Upon his return, he was back to seeing a smaller number of touches that reflected his early-season usage. After rushing for 4.2 yards per carry in 2021, he was over a full yard per carry better this year, and he often looked to be a superior runner over lead back David Montgomery. With Montgomery set to hit free agency, Herbert, who's inked through 2024, may move right into the lead-back role for 2023 if his teammate isn't re-signed.

  • Bears' David Montgomery: Set for free agency

Montgomery rushed seven times for 21 yards in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and he ended the season with 201 carries for 801 yards and two touchdowns along with 34 receptions, 316 yards and another score over 16 games played.

In each of his four seasons, Montgomery has produced at least 1,074 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns. Over his career, he's rushed for less than four yards per carry, but he's handled at least 200 carries each season while missing just five games. He's also been solid as a receiver, having posted at least 301 yards in three straight seasons. Although he maintained his hold on the lead role in the backfield, Khalil Herbert cut into his workload and often appeared to be the more explosive runner. It's possible that Chicago lets Herbert take on the lead role in 2023 with Montgomery now an unrestricted free agent.

  • James Cook RB | BUF

Bills' James Cook: Outplays Singletary in Week 18 win

Cook rushed nine times for 45 yards and caught both of his targets for six yards in Sunday's 35-23 win over the Patriots.

Cook was more effective than Devin Singletary, who mustered only 32 yards on eight touches and lost a fumble. After being used sparingly to start the season, the rookie second-round pick out of Georgia started to take on a larger share of Buffalo's backfield touches down the stretch, with 338 of Cook's 507 rushing yards coming in his last seven games. Cook and Singletary will likely continue to split carries in the wild-card round against the Dolphins.
