  • Sean Tucker RB | TB

Buccaneers' Sean Tucker: Solid usage in win

Tucker rushed five times for 15 yards and brought in both targets for nine yards in the Buccaneers' 20-17 win over the Vikings on Sunday.

Tucker entered the game listed second on the depth chart and did operate as Rachaad White's primary backup, although he was far behind the latter's 17 carries and 54 snaps. Tucker logged 10 snaps from scrimmage and another 15 on special teams, and while no Bucs back found any success against Minnesota's front seven Sunday, his usage at least corroborates that he could enjoy a solid complementary role as the season unfolds.

  • Damien Harris RB | BUF

Bills' Damien Harris: Minimal role in opener

Harris rushed one time for three yards and caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Monday's 22-16 overtime loss to the Jets.

James Cook dominated the action among Buffalo running backs, seeing 16 touches on 41 offensive snaps to Harris' three and nine, and even Latavius Murray got three touches on 15 snaps. Though the Bills' offense struggled on a wet field in the loss, there's little reason to think that workload split will change much as long as all the team's running backs are healthy. Harris' fantasy value seems like it will mostly be dependent upon goal-line carries.

  • Commanders' Chris Rodriguez: Gets three carries in debut

Rodriguez took three carries for seven yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over Arizona.

The rookie sixth-round pick got a carry on each of his three snaps, working as a distant No. 3 back in terms of playing time but finishing with only one fewer touch than Antonio Gibson, who lost a fumble early and managed only 19 total yards. Starter Brian Robinson also didn't have a great day, averaging 3.1 YPC on his 19 carries, albeit with a receiving TD and the silver lining of a 61 percent snap share. Rodriguez isn't likely to see much work in Week 2 at Denver but should be kept in mind for the future in case Robinson and Gibson don't stay healthy or productive.

  • Commanders' Antonio Gibson: Gets four touches, loses fumble

Gibson had three carries for nine yards and caught his lone target for 10 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Cardinals.

Gibson got his first carry early in the second quarter, then lost a fumble on his second carry a few minutes later. His next touch was a reception midway through the fourth quarter, though he did play 35 percent of Washington's offensive snaps. Starting RB Brian Robinson played 61 percent, taking 19 carries for 59 yards and catching one of two targets for a seven-yard touchdown. Adding to the bad news for Gibson, rookie sixth-round pick Chris Rodriguez took three snaps and had three carries for seven yards. Gibson should fare somewhat better Week 2 at Denver, but it isn't a great matchup and the workload split appears solidly in Robinson's favor.

  • James Cook RB | BUF

Bills' James Cook: Leads backfield with 16 touches

Cook rushed 12 times for 46 yards and caught four of six targets for 17 yards in Monday's 22-16 overtime loss to the Jets.

Cook finished with the same number of touches as his older brother Dalvin, who had 59 scrimmage yards for the Jets. While Dalvin faces stiff competition for touches from Breece Hall, James appears to be the clear lead back for the Bills, as veterans Damien Harris and Latavius Murray combined for three carries and four targets. Buffalo ventured inside the Jets' 10-yard line on only one drive, so it remains to be seen how the team delegates goal-line carries, but the majority of those are expected to go to the 213-pound Harris or 237-pound quarterback Josh Allen over the 190-pound Cook, who is a speedy outside runner rather than a powerful inside runner. Up next for Cook and the Bills is a Week 2 home game against the Raiders.

  • Dalvin Cook RB | DAL

Jets' Dalvin Cook: Gets 16 touches to Hall's 11

Cook rushed 13 times for 33 yards and caught all three of his targets for 26 yards in Monday's 22-16 overtime win over the Bills.

Cook led the Jets in rushing attempts, but Breece Hall (127 yards on 10 carries) was far more effective on his touches. The original game plan may have been more heavily skewed in Cook's direction, but Hall earned close to an even split after mustering 109 yards on his first two carries. As Hall gets further removed from last year's torn ACL, he's likely to take on a larger workload, but considering Cook is coming off four consecutive seasons with over 1,100 rushing yards for the Vikings, he should maintain a sizable role even once his younger backfield-mate is fully up to speed. Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) could be done for the season after getting hurt on his first drive as a Jet, and while the offense's ceiling is far lower with Zach Wilson under center, the touch floor for both Hall and Cook should be high as New York moves to a more run-heavy approach, starting with the team's Week 2 trip to Dallas.

  • Breece Hall RB | NYJ

Jets' Breece Hall: Tops 100 rushing yards in return

Hall (knee) rushed 10 times for 127 yards and caught one of two targets for 20 yards in Monday's 22-16 overtime win over the Bills.

Hall got the start and immediately ripped off a 26-yard run on the Jets' first offensive play, showing that his surgically repaired knee is doing just fine. His next run didn't come until the second quarter, but it went even better, as Hall broke free for an 83-yard gain to flip the field after the Jets started on their own four-yard line. Dalvin Cook led the Jets with 13 rushing attempts but mustered just 33 yards on the ground, as Hall was the far more effective runner. Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) exited on the opening drive and could be out for the season, so the Jets will likely take on a more run-first approach at the expense of goal-line opportunities with Zach Wilson under center, which means both Hall and Cook can be expected to garner double-digit touches against Dallas in Week 2.

  • Tyjae Spears RB | TEN

Titans' Tyjae Spears: Sees four targets

Spears carried the ball three times for 27 yards in Sunday's 16-15 loss to the Saints. He added one reception on four targets for one yard.

Spears was shockingly on the field more than Derrick Henry, as he played on 54 percent of offensive snaps as opposed to Henry's 46 percent clip. Their respective workload did not follow suit, though Spears' involvement in the passing game was noteworthy. The Titans have talked up the rookie's potential since minicamp, and it's clear they'll utilize him in a significant way as a complement to Henry.

  • Taiwan Jones RB | NYG

Taiwan Jones: Reverts to practice squad

Jones reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday.

Jones saw all of his playing time (15 snaps) come on special teams during New York's loss to Dallas on Sunday. The 35-year-old could be called up again for his special-teams value for the team's Week 2 matchup against the Cardinals.

  • Tony Jones RB | ARI

Tony Jones: Back to practice squad

Jones reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday.

Jones operated as a backup option behind Jamaal Williams in Sunday's 16-15 win over the Titans, producing five yards on his only carry over seven offensive snaps. With Alvin Kamara (suspension) still unavailable for two more contests and Kendre Miller (hamstring) not certain to be available in Week 2, Jones could be elevated again for the team's matchup with the Panthers on Monday Night Football.
