  • Mac Jones QB | SF

Patriots' Mac Jones: Starts Saturday's preseason win

Jones made his preseason debut against Green Bay on Saturday, completing six of nine pass attempts for 52 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions in a 21-17 exhibition win.

Jones had a clean tune-up appearance from the pocket, leading an opening drive that Rhamondre Stevenson finished off with a rushing touchdown. The 25-year-old coughed up a fumble while getting sacked on the final play of his scheduled appearance, giving way to Bailey Zappe and the reserves after completing three drives. Jones will attempt to right the ship after a sophomore slump sapped his fantasy value heading into this year's drafts.

  • P.J. Walker QB | SEA

Bears' PJ Walker: Quiet outing Saturday

Walker completed one of four passes for six yards during Saturday's 24-17 preseason loss to the Colts.

The Bears sat most of their starters, including quarterback Justin Fields, in preseason Week 2. As a result, Walker directed the offense for the first two possessions, which resulted in no points and a pair of punts. He also was sacked twice for a combined loss of nine yards. He seems to be secure in his standing as Chicago's No. 2 QB, but Nathan Peterman and undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent still are around to challenge Walker.

  • Colts' Gardner Minshew: Tosses TD on Saturday

Minshew completed 13 of 15 passes for 107 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 24-17 preseason victory against the Bears.

During a week in which the Colts named rookie first-rounder Anthony Richardson their Week 1 starting quarterback, Minshew again has been relegated to backup duties. Still, Minshew took advantage of Richardson getting the night off Saturday, missing just two throws to wide receivers Josh Downs and Juwann Winfree. Considering the team rosters only three quarterbacks, Minshew may get some more exhibition action this Thursday in Philadelphia.

  • Malik Willis QB | MIA

Titans' Malik Willis: Showcases rushing ability

Willis completed 10 of 17 passes for 85 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Saturday's 24-16 preseason win over the Vikings. He added 11 rushes for 91 yards.

Willis was the only Titans quarterback to take the field, and he got a lot of valuable reps in the process. His results were inconsistent, as he missed a couple of open receivers and also threw a pick, though he also showed more poise in the pocket and delivered a number of accurate passes down the field. Willis also showcased his rushing ability, providing multiple paths to big plays. He is battling Will Levis (lower body) for the backup quarterback job, and based on his work over Tennessee's two preseason games, Willis has taken a step forward as he heads into his second professional season.

  • Brock Purdy QB | SF

49ers' Brock Purdy: Looks sharp in return

Purdy (elbow) started Saturday's preseason tilt against Denver, completing five of six pass attempts for 65 yards while taking his only carry for eight yards.

Purdy returned to action after suffering a torn UCL in his right throwing elbow against the Eagles in the 2022 NFC Championship Game a little less than seven months ago. An injury seen more commonly with pitchers in baseball, there haven't been many examples of a quarterback returning from this type of injury. Purdy put any arm strength concerns to rest when he hit Deebo Samuel on a crossing route for 25 yards on the first play of the game. The 23-year-old continued the 10-play opening drive before giving way to Sam Darnold and eventually Trey Lance, who are competing for the backup job this preseason. With a healthy return to the field, Purdy should be ready to start and command a talented roster of playmakers this coming season.

  • Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Productive in quarter of play

Mahomes completed 10 of 15 passes for 105 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in the Chiefs' 38-10 preseason win over the Cardinals on Saturday night.

Mahomes played the first quarter and was afforded plenty of work, which is the way the perennial Pro Bowler likes it in preparation for the regular season. He was as sharp as his final line implies and connected with Justin Watson from 18 yards out on a pretty touchdown pass in the closing seconds of the first quarter. With Mahomes now seemingly tuned up for the start of KC's title-defense campaign, he could well sit out next Saturday afternoon's home preseason finale against the Browns.

  • Kenny Pickett QB | CAR

Steelers' Kenny Pickett: Another sharp dress rehearsal

Pickett completed three of four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown in Pittsburgh's 27-15 preseason victory over the Bills on Saturday.

Pickett led two drives, though that resulted in only seven total plays. Despite the limited exposure, he impressed with a 25-yard touchdown down the middle of the field to Pat Freiermuth. Pickett also connected with George Pickens and Allen Robinson on the day, a bulk of his projected primary targets come the regular season. He's now turned in two strong preseason appearances ahead of his second professional campaign.

  • Jordan Love QB | GB

Packers' Jordan Love: Another promising exhibition

Love completed five of eight pass attempts for 84 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions and rushed twice for 11 yards in Saturday's preseason tilt against the Patriots.

Love was on the field for three series with the first-team offense Saturday, throwing a 19-yard dart to rookie wideout Jayden Reed for a touchdown on his third and final drive. The 2020 first-round pick has led two touchdown drives on five possessions so far this preseason as he builds confidence heading into his first year as starter. Lots of eyes will be on Love this season as he takes over for the legendary Aaron Rodgers, who signed with the Jets this past offseason after putting together a Hall of Fame resume during his time in Green Bay.

  • Zach Wilson QB | NO

Jets' Zach Wilson: Solid in another start

Wilson completed nine of 13 passes for 70 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed twice for 41 yards in the Jets' 13-6 preseason loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday night.

Aaron Rodgers once again got the night off, so Wilson's busy preseason continued with another respectable showing. Unlike last week's shutout win over the Panthers, Wilson wasn't able to get the Jets into the end zone, but he had an impact play with a 35 yard-run and remained free of turnovers. The third-year signal-caller appears to have settled in nicely after his abrupt demotion this offseason and may get one final chance to tune up for his No. 2 role behind Rodgers when the Jets face off with the Giants in next Saturday night's exhibition finale.

  • Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield: Doesn't play in preseason win

Mayfield did not play in the Buccaneers' 13-6 preseason win over the Jets on Saturday night, despite John Wolford suffering a neck injury that forced his exit from the contest.

Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports head coach Todd Bowles had initially planned to have Mayfield play Saturday night, but the staff had decided they wanted to see Kyle Trask handle a two-minute scenario at the end of the half. The plan was for Wolford to handle the entire second half once Trask was done at halftime, yet his late third-quarter exit led to Trask re-entering the game because he was already warmed up. Laine separately reports Mayfield and Trask will both play in next Saturday night's preseason finale against the Ravens, which will presumably serve as the final chapter in their job battle.
