Anthony Richardson QB | IND
Colts' Anthony Richardson: Out Week 5, injury not long term
Richardson is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, but his oblique strain isn't considered a long-term concern, and the Colts are hopeful that he can return for the team's Week 6 game against the Titans, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
Joe Flacco will get the start Week 5 after he came on in relief of Richardson in last Sunday's win over the Steelers when the latter went down with his oblique strain. Richardson was a limited participant in practice throughout Week 5, so if he's able to resume practicing in full at some point next week, he should be cleared to reclaim the starting role next Sunday at Tennessee.

Joe Flacco QB | CIN
Colts' Joe Flacco: Draws start with Richardson out
Flacco will start Sunday's game against the Jaguars with Anthony Richardson (oblique) inactive for the contest, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
The starting assignment was fully expected after Flacco took most of the first-team reps during practice this week while Richardson was listed as a limited participant in sessions Wednesday through Friday due to the oblique strain he sustained in last week's 27-24 win over the Steelers. Upon entering the Week 4 game in relief of Richardson on the Colts' second drive, Flacco completed 16 of 26 pass attempts for 168 yards and two touchdowns. With Richardson and top running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) both sitting out Sunday, the Colts could rely more heavily on the Flacco-led passing attack, which could increase the viability of receivers Michael Pittman and Josh Downs as fantasy options in Week 5.

Sam Hartman QB | WAS
Commanders' Sam Hartman: Healthy scratch
Hartman (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Browns.
Hartman has been serving as the team's emergency QB to start the season, but with Marcus Mariota's return from injury, the Notre Dame product will be relegated to the team's No. 4 option on the positional depth chart at quarterback.
-
Jeff Driskel QB | WAS
Commanders' Jeff Driskel: Emergency option
Driskel (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Browns, but he'll dress as the team's emergency No. 3 quarterback.
Driskel will dress despite technically being inactive. However, he'll only be able to enter the game if Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota get injured.

Skylar Thompson QB | BAL
Dolphins' Skylar Thompson: Inactive Sunday
Thompson (ribs) is inactive for Sunday's game at New England.
The Dolphins included Thompson among its inactives for a second consecutive contest, and he'll again be serving as the emergency third quarterback behind starter Tyler Huntley and No. 2 Tim Boyle, per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com. Thompson has been tending to a rib injury for two weeks running, but it remains to be seen if he'll be in consideration to start or even be the team's backup signal-caller once he's healthy while Tua Tagovailoa remains on IR due to a concussion.
-
Marcus Mariota QB | WAS
Commanders' Marcus Mariota: Serving as backup QB
Mariota (pectoral) is active for Sunday's game against the Browns.
Mariota landed on injured reserve just before the season opener due to a chest injury, which was reclassified as a pectoral issue during Week 5 prep after the Commanders designated him for return Wednesday and were required to list him on the practice report. He remained questionable for Sunday even after the team activated him Saturday, but now that he's deemed active, he'll act as the top backup to starting quarterback and rookie sensation Jayden Daniels.

Anthony Richardson QB | IND
Colts' Anthony Richardson: Inactive for Week 5
Richardson (oblique) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Richardson's absence for Week 5 was expected after he suffered an oblique strain in the Colts' Week 4 win over the Steelers and was subsequently a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday before taking a questionable tag into the weekend and then getting downgraded to doubtful Saturday. With Richardson getting at least one game off to tend to his injury, Joe Flacco will step in as the Colts' starting quarterback while usual No. 3 signal-caller Sam Ehlinger slides into the backup role.
-
Adrian Martinez QB | SF
Jets' Adrian Martinez: Elevated from practice squad
The Jets elevated Martinez from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Martinez will make the trip to London to serve as the third/emergency quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Rodgers had been dealing with knee swelling all week, but he doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's contest.
-
Marcus Mariota QB | WAS
Commanders' Marcus Mariota: Activated off injured reserve
Mariota (chest) was activated off injured reserve Saturday but remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns.
It would seem counterintuitive to activate a player off injured reserve and then not play him, especially well within the 21-day practice window, so it seems likely the veteran quarterback is set to operate as the backup come Sunday. Mariota will likely push out Jeff Driskel from the backup spot as a result.

Joe Flacco QB | CIN
Colts' Joe Flacco: Primed for Week 5 start
Flacco appears to be in position to start Sunday's game against the Jaguars after the Colts announced Anthony Richardson (oblique) is now listed as doubtful for the matchup.
When Richardson exited Sunday's 27-24 win over the Steelers during the Colts' second offensive drive, Flacco stepped in to complete 16 of 26 pass attempts for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Flacco's steady hand in directing the offense was even more impressive by the fact that he was able to pick apart one of the league's best defenses in Pittsburgh. With Richardson managing nothing more than limited participation in practice this week, Flacco should be set up well to deliver a useful fantasy outing against a Jaguars defense that's allowed the third-most passing yards in 2024.
