  • Derek Carr QB | NO

Raiders' Derek Carr: Surpasses 500 yards in overtime victory

Carr completed 40 of 59 passes for 513 yards and four touchdowns during Sunday's win over the Buccaneers.

Carr put up one of the best performances of his young career while leading the Raiders to their sixth win of the season, and significantly boosted his fantasy value in the process. He was in sync with top targets Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree all afternoon, with the two pass catchers combining for 20 total receptions and nearly 300 yards receiving. Carr's only blemish came when he lost a fumble, but he otherwise avoided any major mistakes while connecting with 10 different targets overall. The Raiders host the Broncos in Week 9 and Carr thus will look to keep the momentum rolling against one of the league's toughest defenses.

  • Lions' Matthew Stafford: Interception-free in loss

Stafford completed 27 of 41 passes for 240 yards and one touchdown Sunday against the Texans.

Stafford seemed happy to have TE Eric Ebron (knee) back in action, as the former first-rounder was Stafford's second-most targeted receiver, as well as the recipient of a 33-yard completion that pushed Stafford past both Kenny Stabler and Terry Bradshaw on the NFL's all-time passing yards list. However, Stafford wasn't able to get much else going Sunday against the league's second-ranked passing defense, often having to check down to receiving-specialist RB Theo Riddick, who ended up leading the Lions in looks. What's more, Stafford has now thrown for one or less touchdowns in four of eight games this season. Notably, he also failed to log a rushing attempt, let alone any rushing yards, for the first time since Week 4 of 2015. Consequently, fantasy owners should expect positive regression in that facet of the signal-caller's game moving forward.

  • Kirk Cousins QB | LV

Redskins' Kirk Cousins: Two touchdowns in tie

Cousins connected on 38 of 56 pass attempts for a season-high 458 yards, while adding two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's tie with the Bengals.

A season high in passing yards wasn't enough to propel Washington to a win, as the game ended in a Cousins' Hail Mary attempt that didn't even stay in the field of play. The quarterback connected with Jordan Reed late in the third quarter from 25 yards out to bring the Redskins within three points of the Bengals. He then found Jamison Crowder on a 33-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth to give the Redskins the lead. Cousins and the Redskins now head into their bye week, giving the quarterback some extra time to rest up and prepare for a Week 10 tilt with the Vikings and their league-leading defense.

  • Bryce Petty QB | MIA

Jets' Bryce Petty: Suiting up Sunday

Petty is active for Sunday's matchup against Cleveland.

Petty will be the second quarterback to suit up Sunday for New York, putting him in line to back up Ryan Fitzpatrick following the ACL injury to Geno Smith. The second-year player out of Baylor would appear to have the edge over rookie Christian Hackenberg for the team's backup quarterback job, as Hackenberg remains on the inactive list for the Week 8 matchup.

  • Jets' Christian Hackenberg: Remains on inactive list

Hackenberg (coach's decision) is listed as inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Browns.

Hackenberg, the Jets' second-round draft pick, has yet to see an NFL snap this season. He had an opportunity to move up the depth chart due to the ACL injury suffered by Geno Smith, but that role instead appears to be reserved for Bryce Petty. Ryan Fitzpatrick is slated to start for the Jets on Sunday, but if he continues to struggle, the Jets soon may have to see what they have in the 21-year-old Hackenberg. It won't be in Week 8, however.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Doesn't have injury designation for Sunday

Wilson (knee/pectoral) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's game in New Orleans, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Wilson already said he will play, and head coach Pete Carroll confirmed as much Friday morning. It was still unclear if the quarterback would have an injury designation, which might lead to a bit of uncertainty. Wilson may be somewhat limited by his various ailments, but there's no longer any question that he'll suit up for Sunday's excellent matchup.

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: More optimism regarding Week 8 status

Head coach Pete Carroll said Friday morning that Wilson (knee/pectoral) will play Sunday against the Saints, Brady Henderson of ESPN Seattle reports.

Wilson's status for Week 8 will not officially be determined until after Friday's practice, but fantasy owners should be encouraged that both he and his head coach have now stated over the last two days that Wilson will be good to go Sunday despite his injuries.

  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Titans' Marcus Mariota: Completes over 80 percent of passes in Week 8 win

Mariota completed 18 of 22 passes for 270 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in Thursday's 36-22 victory over the Jaguars. He also gained 11 yards on three rushes and fumbled, but it was recovered.

It was a stellar night overall for Mariota, who helped the Titans build a 27-0 halftime lead on the strength of four drives over 60 yards in the second quarter. Mariota also finished with an 81.8 completion percentage on the night, the second-highest by a Titans QB with a minimum of 20 pass attempts since the franchise moved to Tennessee from Houston before the 1997 campaign. His first touchdown pass of the night-- a 36-yard strike to Kendall Wright in the second quarter-- also marked his third scoring pass of 2016 that's traveled over 20 yards in the air, after managing only two such scoring throws in his rookie campaign. The 2015 first-round pick also has multiple touchdown passes in four straight games, while Thursday's 12.27 YPA figure was his best in that category this season. Although he's been quiet on the rushing front the last two games (25 combined yards), Mariota also offers significant upside in that area, making him one of the hottest fantasy commodities at quarterback in any format at the moment. He'll look to continue his solid stretch of play against the Chargers in Week 9.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Expects to play Sunday

Wilson (knee/right pectoral) expects to suit up Sunday at New Orleans, the Seattle Times reports.

While Wilson has rid himself of the high left ankle sprain suffered in Week 1, his mobility remains afflicted by the MCL sprain from Week 3, as expressed by a miserable (and career-low) 1.5 YPC this season. To make matters worse, he picked up an injury to his right pectoral in the latter stages of Sunday's tie with the Cardinals. Speaking about the most recent ailment Thursday, he said, "I can definitely throw if I needed to, throw hard if I needed to. We don't play until Sunday, obviously, which is a good thing." Hence the reason he's logged back-to-back limited practices, or the first at less than full in four-plus years as a professional. Taking him at his word, though, he should be under center for the 71st game in a row this weekend.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Limited practice Wednesday

Wilson (knee/right pectoral) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Despite head coach Pete Carroll's comments to the contrary, Wilson continues to tend to the MCL sprain sustained in Week 3, but a pectoral injury is also part of the picture. The quarterback has endured every hindrance this season with aplomb, tallying at least 225 yards passing in all six games. His mobility hasn't been a part of the equation, though, as he's averaging a career-low 1.5 YPC and hasn't reached the end zone as a runner in the current campaign.
