  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Jets' Geno Smith: Lands on IR

The Jets have placed Smith (knee) on IR.

No surprise here, as Smith suffered a torn ACL during the second quarter of the Jets' win over the Ravens in Week 7. With Smith done for the season, Ryan Fitzpatrick is back atop the team's QB depth chart, with Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg slotting in behind him.

  • Jared Goff QB | DET

Rams' Jared Goff: Getting first-team reps during bye week

Goff will get some first-team reps during the bye week even though Case Keenum is not in immediate danger of losing the starting job, Myles Simmons of TheRams.com reports.

Keenum threw four interceptions in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Giants, but head coach Jeff Fisher strongly suggested that at least a couple of the picks weren't actually the quarterback's fault. Keenum also happened to play his best game of the season the previous week, throwing for 321 yards while accounting for all four touchdowns in a 31-28 loss to the Lions. Goff will get some first-team reps during the bye week, but Fisher left no doubt that Keenum will start in Week 9 against Carolina. The rookie could still get his shot before the end of the season if Keenum doesn't come out of the bye week strong.

  • Trevor Siemian QB | ATL

Broncos' Trevor Siemian: One touchdown in win

Siemian completed 14 of 25 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown Monday night against the Texans.

Siemian only threw it half as many times as in Week 6, but he did enough to lead the Broncos to victory while complementing a highly productive running game. The former seventh-round pick completed passes to six different targets, even though top receivers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders were the only Denver players to log more than one catch. Siemian's lone touchdown went to Thomas, and he once again played turnover-free football Monday. On the back of that performance, Siemian will look forward to another shot at the Chargers this Sunday.

  • Brian Hoyer QB | LV

Bears' Brian Hoyer: Placed on injured reserve

Hoyer (forearm) was moved to the Bears' injured reserve list Monday, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.

Hoyer is expected to be out for at least eight weeks, and with the Bears already on the outside-looking-in as far as the playoff picture goes, it likely made the most sense to simply shut the quarterback down for the remainder of the season in order to free up a roster spot. Meanwhile, Jay Cutler (thumb) was cleared to return Monday and will take over starting duties while Matt Barkley reverts to backup status.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Still limited by injuries, but getting healthier

Wilson for the first time felt no lingering effects with his two leg injuries following Sunday's game, coach Pete Carroll said at his Monday press conference.

Wilson was clearly again limited by his left high ankle sprain and right MCL sprain against the Cardinals on Sunday. He ran the ball just once for minus-two yards. Without Wilson's running threat around the edge, defenses have stacked the tackle box to stop Seattle's running backs. The Seahawks are 31st in rushing at 3.12 YPC. Wilson's 1.50 YPC is far off his career average, as he entered the season at 5.91 YPC. Perhaps that will change as Wilson's gets healthier in the next few weeks.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Jets' Geno Smith: Torn ACL confirmed

Smith's torn ACL has been confirmed by head coach Todd Bowles, and he will miss the remainder of this season.

Smith's season frustratingly ends just after he was given his first start of the campaign Sunday. Furthermore, he'll now enter free agency this offseason coming off a serious knee injury, which could impact his availability for the start of next season. In Smith's absence, Ryan Fitzpatrick will reclaim the Jets' starting quarterback job, with Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg set to compete for backup duties.

  • Case Keenum QB | CHI

Rams' Case Keenum: Receives support from coach

Keenum has the support of head coach Jeff Fisher to remain the Rams' starting quarterback, ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reports.

Keenum threw four interceptions in Los Angeles' third straight loss Sunday, entering the Rams' bye week on a sour note. Although that performance has sparked more noise for rookie No. 1 pick Jared Goff to be promoted to the team's starting quarterback, coach Fisher says he's sticking with Keenum, and Goff isn't ready for the job yet. As a result, it appears the veteran Keenum will keep his spot when the Rams take the field in Week 9 against the Panthers.

  • Brian Hoyer QB | LV

Bears' Brian Hoyer: Has arm surgery

Hoyer underwent surgery on his broken left arm and will likely be placed on injured reserve, according to coach John Fox.

Hoyer's injury and subsequent surgery coincides with quarterback Jay Cutler (thumb) being cleared to return Monday. While that should keep the Bears in relatively good shape at the position, Hoyer will now face an extended period on the sidelines, although it remains to be seen whether he'll indeed be placed on injured reserve. Regardless, Matt Barkley figures to serve as Chicago's second-string quarterback while Hoyer is out.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Jets' Geno Smith: MRI believed to reveal torn ACL

Smith (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn ACL, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Smith was initially thought to have avoided a serious injury, but the initial results of Monday's MRI are believed to suggest otherwise. To pin down a definitive diagnosis, Smith will visit Dr. James Andrew on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. If a torn ACL is confirmed, Smith would miss the remainder of this season, paving the way for Ryan Fitzpatrick to reclaim the Jets' starting quarterback job.

  • Geno Smith QB | NYJ

Jets' Geno Smith: Knee thought to be fine

Smith's knee is believed to be "fine", but he'll still undergo an MRI on Monday as a precaution, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Smith was kept out of Sunday's game after twisting his knee while getting tackled during the second quarter. While the extent of his problem is unclear at the moment, Smith's knee injury evidently isn't thought to be serious. Monday's MRI should help clarify his situation, at which point his outlook for upcoming action should be sorted out as well.
