Matt Gay K | WAS
Commanders' Matt Gay: Struggles from distance continue
Gay made one of three field-goal attempts and connected on his only PAT try in Thursday's 27-18 loss to the Packers.
Gay made a 51-yard field-goal attempt but then missed from 58 and 52, continuing his struggles from 50-plus yards out after making only three of nine such kicks in 2024 with the Colts. Washington had a surprisingly tough time moving the ball Thursday, netting only 230 yards of total offense. Gay's lack of accuracy from distance coupled with modest offensive output from the Commanders isn't a formula for fantasy success.

Brandon McManus K | GB
Packers' Brandon McManus: Mixed bag in Thursday's win
McManus made two of three field-goal attempts and all three of his PAT tries in Thursday's 27-18 win over the Commanders.
McManus missed a 48-yard attempt off the upright to end the first half but bounced back with a successful 22-yard field goal in the third quarter and an impressive 56-yarder in the fourth, which essentially sealed the win by making it a three-score game. McManus has made 24 of 26 field-goal attempts in 13 regular-season games as a member of the Packers.

Andre Szmyt K | CLE
Browns' Andre Szmyt: Retaining kicking job for Week 2
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday that Szmyt will remain the team's kicker for Sunday's game in Baltimore, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
The Syracuse product was shaky in his NFL debut during this past Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Bengals, missing one of two extra-point attempts and a 36-yard field-goal try that would have put the Browns ahead in the fourth quarter. Despite the 26-year-old's rough performance, the Browns haven't worked out any other kickers this week, and Stefanski is optimistic that Szmyt will improve as the season rolls along. However, another poor showing by Szmyt in Week 2 could prompt Stefanski to rethink the team's plans at kicker moving forward.

Eddy Pineiro K | SF
49ers' Eddy Pineiro: Replacing Moody in San Francisco
Pineiro agreed to a one-year contract with the 49ers on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
With the 49ers cutting Jake Moody on Tuesday after he missed two field goals in the season-opening 17-13 win over the Seahawks, Pineiro will step in as the team's new kicker beginning with Sunday's game at New Orleans. The third-most accurate kicker in NFL history with an 88.1 percent success rate on field-goal attempts over parts of five NFL seasons, Pineiro should bring some much-needed stability to the San Francisco kicking game. Since he'll be attached to what looks to be a solid albeit banged-up 49ers offense, Pineiro could profile as an above-average fantasy kicker right off the bat.

Will Reichard K | MIN
Vikings' Will Reichard: Hits 59-yard field goal vs. Chicago
Reichard made both of his field-goal attempts and his lone extra-point try during the Vikings' 27-24 win over the Bears on Monday.
Reichard's 59-yard field goal at the end of the first half matched a Soldier Field record and brought the Vikings' deficit to four points. The 2024 sixth-rounder had a perfect start through Week 8 of his rookie season before suffering a quad injury in Week 9, which impacted his accuracy down the stretch as he went 10-for-14 on field-goal attempts over the final five weeks of the regular season. Reichard's fantasy impact will largely depend on the effectiveness of the Vikings' offense led by J.J. McCarthy.

Cairo Santos K | CHI
Bears' Cairo Santos: Misses long kick in Week 1 loss
Santos went 1-for-2 on field-goal attempts and made both of his extra-point tries during the Bears' 27-24 loss to the Vikings on Monday.
Santos connected on a 42-yard field goal late in the second quarter, but his 50-yard attempt at the beginning of the fourth sailed right, which put the Vikings' in good field position and led to a 13-yard touchdown pass from J.J. McCarthy to Justin Jefferson six plays later. Santos is coming off a 2024 campaign in which he connected on just 21 of 25 field-goal attempts, but his numbers would improve in 2025 if the Bears' offense -- led by first-year head coach Ben Johnson -- is able to move the ball down the field more effectively.

Matt Prater K | BUF
Bills' Matt Prater: Added to 53-man roster
The Bills signed Prater off their practice squad Tuesday.
Though Buffalo would have had the ability to elevate Prater from the practice squad in advance of two more games, the Bills may have chosen to sign the 41-year-old to the 53-man roster to avoid having him being poached by the 49ers or Falcons, both of whom could be breaking in new kickers in Week 2. Prater is likely to stick around as the Bills' kicker for the duration of the absence of Tyler Bass (hip/groin), who was placed on injured reserve prior to the start of the season and will miss at least three more games. The veteran Prater proved to be reliable in his Bills debut this past Sunday, knocking down both of his point-after attempts in addition to converting on field-goal tries of 25, 43 and 32 yards in Buffalo's 41-40 win over Baltimore, the last of which was the game-winner as time expired.

Jake Moody K | CHI
Jake Moody: Out as San Francisco's kicker
The 49ers will waive Moody on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Moody has been on thin ice since the end of his rookie campaign in 2023, when he followed up a promising regular season by missing two field goals and one extra-point attempt over three playoff games. He then endured a nightmarish sophomore campaign in which he missed 11 kicks in total (10 field goals, one extra point), and his struggles continued in the 49ers' 17-13 win over the Seahawks in Week 1. Before converting on a 32-yard try in the fourth quarter, Moody hit the left upright on a 27-yard attempt late in the second quarter, then had a 36-yard attempt in the third quarter get blocked. The 49ers don't currently have any other kickers on their 53-man roster or practice squad.

Riley Patterson K | MIA
Dolphins' Riley Patterson: Reverts to practice squad
Patterson reverted to Miami's practice squad Monday.
Patterson served as the team's kicker with Jason Sanders (hip) on injured reserve but didn't attempt either a field goal or extra point during Sunday's blowout loss versus the Colts. Patterson will likely be elevated again for the Miami's Week 2 matchup versus the Patriots.

Matt Prater K | BUF
Bills' Matt Prater: Returns to practice squad
Prater reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday.
With Tyler Bass (hip/groin) landing on injured reserve prior to the season opener, Prater was elevated from the practice squad to handle kicking duties for the Bills. The 41-year-old knocked down all five of his kicks in the Bills' 41-40 win over the Ravens, capping off the victory with a 32-yard field goal as time expired. Prater will almost certainly be elevated to the active roster again for the Bills' Week 2 game versus the Jets.
