  • Griffin Conine RF | MIA

    Marlins' Griffin Conine: Idle Sunday

Conine is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Conine will retreat to the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Joe Mack, Owen Caissie and Graham Pauley while the Reds send southpaw Nick Lodolo to the bump for the series finale. Leo Jimenez will step in at first base in place of Conine, who had started in each of the Marlins' last seven contests.

  • Nathan Lukes RF | TOR

Blue Jays' Nathan Lukes: Sitting against lefty

Lukes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Lukes will sit out Sunday's series finale as left-hander Ryan Weathers takes the mound for New York. Brett Bateman will slide over to right field while Myles Straw mans center field for Toronto.

  • Jesus Sanchez DH | ARI

Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Resting Sunday

Sanchez is out of the lineup for Toronto's matchup with the Yankees on Sunday.

With southpaw Ryan Weathers toeing the slab for the Yankees, Sanchez will sit out Sunday's series finale. Daz Cameron will make his season debut with Toronto in left field and bat seventh.

  • Mickey Gasper DH | BOS

Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: Summoned to majors

The Red Sox recalled Gasper from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.

Gasper will be back with the Red Sox for the first time since late June, replacing the injured Masataka Yoshida (hamstring). Adley Rutschman will occupy the designated hitter spot for Sunday's series finale in Pittsburgh, but Gasper could get some looks as the DH while Yoshida is out. During his time in the majors this season, Gasper has slashed .243/.305/.308 with no home runs or stolen bases, 11 runs and seven RBI across 119 plate appearances.

  • Justin Slaten RP | BOS

Red Sox's Justin Slaten: Move to IL official

The Red Sox placed Slaten (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

Slaten's placement on the IL is retroactive to Thursday, so he'll be eligible to return as soon as Aug. 28 if he's fully recovered from right elbow inflammation by then. The Red Sox recalled left-hander Raymond Burgos from Triple-A Worcester to take Slaten's spot in the bullpen.

  • Raymond Burgos RP | BOS

Red Sox's Raymond Burgos: Moves up from Triple-A

Boston recalled Burgos from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.

Burgos will join the big-league club for the second time this season, replacing the injured Justin Slaten (elbow) on the active roster. During his brief stint with Boston earlier this month, Burgos made a pair of relief appearances and gave up two earned runs while striking out four over six innings.

  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Shelved with hamstring strain

The Red Sox placed Yoshida (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left hamstring strain.

Boston recalled catcher/designated hitter Mickey Gasper from Triple-A Worcester as a replacement for Yoshida, who is likely to be shelved into September while he recovers from a left hamstring strain he sustained Saturday. Adley Rutschman will serve as Boston's designated hitter in Sunday's series finale, but interim manager Chad Tracy could elect to rotate in a number of players through the DH spot while Yoshida is on the mend.

  • Joe Mack C | MIA

Marlins' Joe Mack: Riding pine Sunday

Mack is absent from the lineup for Sunday's game with the Reds.

Mack will get a breather after starting behind the plate in the first two games of the series and going 3-for-7 with a solo home run. Brian Navarreto will handle catching duties and bat ninth for Miami in the finale in Cincinnati.

  • Dennis Santana RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Dennis Santana: Called up from Triple-A

Arizona selected Santana's contract from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

Just 10 days after signing a minor-league deal with Arizona, Santana will be moved up to the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster. Before joining the Diamondbacks, Santana had spent the season in Pittsburgh's big-league bullpen, posting a 6.05 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 37:21 K:BB over 41.2 innings. Arizona designated Philip Abner for assignment in order to clear room on the roster for Santana.

  • Orioles' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Regaining playing time

Encarnacion-Strand will start at third base and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Rays.

The former Red appeared to have moved into a timeshare at third base with Coby Mayo by the end of last week, but Encarnacion-Strand may be re-emerging as the Orioles' preferred option at the position. He'll cover third base for a fifth straight game after going 5-for-16 with two home runs, one stolen base, three RBI and an additional run over the previous four. Mayo will also remain in the lineup for a third straight game, this time at first base while Pete Alonso gets a break from defensive duties as the DH.
