Cavanaugh was scratched from the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels due to an illness, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Cavanaugh was originally set to make a second consecutive start behind the plate Friday, but he'll instead take a day off to recover from his illness. Daniel Susac will fill in as San Francisco's catcher and bat ninth.

MRI results on McDonald's right elbow revealed a moderate UCL sprain Friday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

McDonald exited his start Monday due to injury before landing on the injured list Tuesday. He will now seek out a second opinion to help determine next steps, but it seems like the 25-year-old righty is trending toward an extended stay on the injured list.

Lowe is not in the Angels' starting lineup against the Giants on Friday.

Despite right-hander Logan Webb taking the mound for the Giants on Friday, the lefty-hitting Lowe will be on the bench for the start of the game while Wade Meckler, Mike Trout and Jo Adell man the outfield from left to right. Lowe has gone 7-for-41 (.171) with one steal, two home runs and four RBI across 13 games in July.

O'Hoppe is not in the Angels' starting lineup against the Giants on Friday.

O'Hoppe will be out of the Halos' lineup for a second consecutive game while Tyler Heineman starts behind home plate and bats ninth. O'Hoppe has struggled at the plate as of late, going 4-for-34 (.118) over his last 10 games.

Schmidt (elbow) is scheduled to pitch a live bullpen session Sunday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Schmidt continues to progress in his recovery from an internal brace procedure that he underwent on his right elbow in July of 2025. The Yankees should have a better sense of Schmidt's recovery timeline once he's cleared to embark on a rehab assignment, but Schmidt is on track to be back with the big club in mid-August, though it's unclear whether he'll be used as a reliever or starter upon his return.

Rodon (elbow) is expected to throw a two-up side session Saturday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

If all goes well Saturday, then Rodon could be cleared to throw a live bullpen session next week. The veteran southpaw was placed on the 15-day injured list in early July due to left elbow inflammation but has made significant progress since receiving a second round of injections last week. Barring any setbacks, Rodon could be back in the Yankees' rotation by mid-August.

Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said that Jung (calf) was unable to run at full speed prior to Friday's game against Seattle, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Schumaker said the Jung was running at "half-speed" as a result of a left calf injury that Jung picked up Tuesday against the White Sox. The injury is severe enough that the veteran third baseman may need a stint on the IL, and Wilson suggests that a decision from the Rangers could come as soon as Saturday. Ezequiel Duran is starting at third base Friday and could continue to see more reps at the hot corner for as long as Jung is sidelined.

Garcia (elbow) will embark on a rehab assignment with Single-A Dunedin on Saturday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Garcia has been pulled from two previous rehab assignments due to nerve issues related to his biceps and neck. The veteran right-hander is ready to restart his rehab assignment and is slated to pitch one inning for Dunedin on Saturday. Garcia has been sidelined since early July of 2025 due to a right elbow injury and will likely need multiple minor-league outings before being cleared to return to the majors.

Seager (back) took four at-bats in a simulated live batting practice Friday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Seager landed on the 10-day injured list July 1 due to lower-back inflammation, but he's steadily progressing in his recovery. He's expected to log at least one more live batting practice session before the Rangers' medical staff decides whether he's ready to embark on a rehab assignment.

Susac isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Susac will miss a third consecutive start Friday after going 2-for-8 with a steal in three games since his return from the injured list last weekend. Drew Cavanaugh will handle catching duties and bat ninth.
