The Tigers placed Carpenter on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder.

The 29-year-old sustained the injury Saturday against the Royals on a collision with the outfield wall, and he'll be out for at least the next week and a half as a result. Gage Workman was called up from Triple-A Toledo to take Carpenter's place on Detroit's 26-man active roster.

The Athletics are set to send Wilson in for an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of his shoulder sprain, clouding the shortstop's status ahead of the team's six-game week. Darell Hernaiz replaced Wilson at shortstop during Sunday's game and could be in line for an everyday role in the middle infield if Wilson requires a stint on the injured list.

Keith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

The exact cause of the arm injury isn't known, but it's worth noting that the 26-year-old outfielder fired a 101.2-mph missile to throw out a runner at the plate Saturday. Barger seems unlikely to be in the lineup for Monday's series opener versus Tampa Bay, and his availability beyond that is also in question.

McKinstry is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Though he'll hit the bench Sunday with lefty Noah Cameron taking the hill for the Royals, the left-handed-hitting McKinstry has been included in the lineup in all three of the Tigers' matchups with right-handed starters/bulk relievers since being activated from the injured list Tuesday. McKinstry is playing through a Grade 3 tear of his pelvic bone that he sustained back on April 15, but he'll likely hold down a strong-side platoon role for Detroit until the team gets one or both of Gleyber Torres (oblique) and Javier Baez (ankle) back from the IL.
