  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Out of starting nine Wednesday

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Ruiz will take a seat for the second straight game while the Nationals go with Harry Ford behind the plate. Despite Ruiz's consecutive absences, the playing time at catcher still seems to be tilting in his favor while he's produced a superb .346/.424/.423 batting line since the start of August.

  • Rockies' Brett Sullivan: Back in No. 2 role

Sullivan is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Sullivan will hit the bench for a second straight game, as he's faded back to the second spot on the Rockies' catching depth chart with All-Star Hunter Goodman returning from the injured list Tuesday. While Goodman was out of the lineup for a stretch of 10 consecutive games from Aug. 14 through Monday, Sullivan made eight starts and went 5-for-29 (.172 average) with one home run, five RBI and four runs.

  • Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Back on bench with righty starting

Ramirez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Ramirez has occupied a top-four spot in the lineup in each of the last three games while the Marlins faced left-handed starting pitchers, going 1-for-8 with two walks and two runs. He'll be back on the bench Wednesday with the Red Sox sending righty Sonny Gray to the hill and could mostly be limited to a short-side platoon role while the Marlins have all of their key hitters available.

  • Esteury Ruiz RF | MIA

Marlins' Esteury Ruiz: Retreating to bench Wednesday

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Ruiz had started the previous four games, going 0-for-8 with a 1:6 BB:K while reaching base on two hit-by-pitches. Three of those starts came against left-handed pitching, and Ruiz looks as though he could mainly be limited to a short-side platoon role in the wake of Kyle Stowers' return from the injured list Monday.

  • Hayden Juenger RP | ATH

Athletics' Hayden Juenger: Jettisoned to minors

The Athletics optioned Juenger to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Juenger has made 15 relief appearances between the Blue Jays and Athletics this season, allowing 16 runs with a 6:8 K:BB over 16 frames. He's being replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Chris Roycroft.

  • Chris Roycroft RP | ATH

Athletics' Chris Roycroft: Recalled to big leagues

The Athletics recalled Roycroft from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

After being scooped up off waivers by the Athletics on Tuesday, Roycroft will report directly to the big club. The big right-hander has given up 23 runs with an 18:12 K:BB over 24.2 innings between stops with the Cardinals and Rays this season.

  • Kervin Castro RP | NYY

Yankees' Kervin Castro: Shifted to 60-day injured list

The Yankees transferred Castro (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Michael Fulmer, who signed a one-year contract. Castro hit the shelf in mid-August due to right elbow neuritis, and Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports that the 27-year-old is scheduled to meet with Dr. Keith Meister in the near future to determine whether surgery is necessary to address the injury. Even if Castro is able to avoid a procedure, his move to the 60-day IL officially ends his season.

  • Michael Fulmer RP | NYY

Yankees' Michael Fulmer: Nets MLB deal from Yankees

The Yankees signed Fulmer to a one-year contract Wednesday.

Fulmer elected free agency Tuesday after being removed from the Angels' 40-man roster, and he was quickly able to secure a big-league deal with the Yankees. The veteran righty has spun 3.2 scoreless frames during his brief time in the majors in 2026 and holds a 2.93 ERA and 52:21 K:BB across 43 innings this season at the Triple-A level.

  • Yankees' Elmer Rodriguez: Summoned for Wednesday's start

The Yankees recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

Rodriguez will start Wednesday's game against the Astros, and if he performs well, he could receive at least one additional start with the big club. The right-hander has collected a 4.76 ERA and 10:11 K:BB over 17 innings in his first four starts with the Bronx Bombers.

  • Bradley Hanner RP | NYY

Yankees' Bradley Hanner: Bound for Triple-A

The Yankees optioned Hanner to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

In his first-ever stint in the majors, Hanner gave up three runs with a 6:0 K:BB over four innings. The right-handed reliever could get another look from the Yankees in September.
