Michael Wacha SP | KC
Royals' Michael Wacha: Fires eight scoreless in win
Wacha (8-8) earned the win against the Guardians on Friday, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out 10 over eight scoreless innings.
Wacha was dominant, throwing 75 of 103 pitches for strikes with 16 whiffs without allowing an extra-base hit. It continued a stellar second half for the veteran hurler, who owns a 2.28 ERA and has delivered six quality starts in eight outings since the All-Star break. He'll take a 3.32 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 136:42 K:BB across 170.2 innings this season into a home matchup with the Marlins next week.

Steven Cruz RP | KC
Royals' Steven Cruz: Earns sixth save
Cruz earned the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Guardians, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.
Cruz finished off an eight-inning gem by Michael Wacha despite allowing two singles and hitting a batter. The 27-year-old secured his first career save July 22 and has gone a perfect 6-for-6 since then despite owning a 4.08 ERA over 17 games during that span. On the season, he owns five holds and six saves to go along with a 4.35 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 56:19 K:BB across 51.2 innings.

Ronald Acuna Jr. RF | ATL
Braves' Ronald Acuna: Crosses home three times Friday
Acuna went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and three runs scored during Atlanta's 6-4 win over the Rockies on Friday.
Acuna entered Friday's game having gone 5-for-41 (.122) across his 10 prior games. He ended up setting a season high Friday with three hits, and it was the fourth time this year that he reached base safety four times. Acuna is currently sitting at a career low in batting average (.235) and has a .748 OPS in 361 plate appearances, but perhaps Friday's performance is a sign the veteran outfielder will find another gear for the stretch run.

Grant Holmes SP | ATL
Braves' Grant Holmes: Collects ninth win of 2026
Holmes (9-5) earned the win against the Rockies on Friday, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three across five innings.
Holmes set the tone early by striking out two batters in the first inning and kept the Rockies off the board through his first four frames. He gave up three runs in the fifth, but Holmes received plenty of run support from his Atlanta teammates to come away with the win. He's allowed three earned runs or less in 24 of 26 outings this season and has a 3.71 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 128.2 innings. He's lined up to face the Phillies on the road next weekend.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Displays power in Friday's win
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during the Yankees' 1-0 win over the Red Sox on Friday.
Goldschmidt was responsible for the only run in Friday's game, when he took Patrick Sandoval deep to left-center field for a 430-foot solo home run. It was Goldschmidt's 17th home run of the season and his first since July 24 against the Phillies. The veteran first baseman has seen his playing time drastically cut down since the Yankees acquired Luis Garcia from the Nationals on Aug. 2, but Goldschmidt should see some starts against southpaws.

Cam Schlittler SP | NYY
Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Fans eight in Friday's win
Schlitter (12-6) earned the win against Boston on Friday, allowing two hits and five walks while striking out eight across 5.2 scoreless innings.
Schlittler ended up getting the better of Red Sox southpaw Patrick Sandoval in Friday's 1-0 pitchers' duel. Schlitter set the tone early by striking out two batters in the first inning and was able to keep Boston off the board for his ninth scoreless outing of the season. He got a little bit of help from Cody Bellinger, with the veteran outfielder gunning down Ceddanne Rafaela at the plate in the seventh inning to preserve the shutout. It was Schlittler's 12th start of eight-plus strikeouts and brought him up to 201 punchouts, which is fifth-most in the majors this season. He'll take a 2.09 ERA and 0.97 WHIP over 163.2 innings into his next start, which is lined up for next week on the road against the Rangers.

Wikelman Gonzalez SP | MIA
Marlins' Wikelman Gonzalez: Joining big club
The Marlins are expected to recall Gonzalez from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Gonzalez has appeared in four games at Jacksonville since joining the Marlins organization Aug. 10, during which he's given up three earned runs on three hits and five walks while fanning eight batters in four innings. Although his performance hasn't been great, the Marlins will bring him up to add a fresh arm to their bullpen.

David Bednar RP | NYY
Yankees' David Bednar: Collects 31st save of 2026
Bednar earned the save in Friday's 1-0 win over Boston after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
Friday's series opener was a low-scoring affair, and Bednar was brought in for the ninth inning to protect the Yankees' one-run lead. He needed 12 pitches (eight strikes) to get the job done, though it was the first time since Aug. 7 that he failed to record a strikeout. Bednar's 31 saves are fifth-most in the majors this season, and he's eight saves shy from matching the career high that he set in 2023 as a member of the Pirates.

Patrick Sandoval SP | BOS
Red Sox's Patrick Sandoval: Takes loss despite strong outing
Sandoval (1-2) took the loss against the Yankees on Friday, allowing one run on three hits and four walks while striking out seven across 5.1 innings.
Sandoval and Cam Schlittler were locked in a pitchers' duel in Friday's series opener, with the latter coming on top after not giving up a run in his outing. Sandoval tied season highs in both walks and strikeouts, and his lone blemish came in the third inning, when he yielded a solo homer to Paul Goldschmidt. That was the only run Sandoval gave up, but unfortunately for the southpaw, he was unable to avoid the loss after his Red Sox teammates failed to generate any offense. He's given up two earned runs or less in seven of nine starts this season and has a 4.20 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 45 innings. Sandoval is slated to take on the Mariners at home next week.
