Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

After a seven-game stretch in which he produced six extra-base hits and drew five walks, Conforto's bat has cooled down during the Cubs' series with Milwaukee. He's gone 0-for-4 with two strikeouts over the first two contests against the Brewers and will take a seat for the second day in a row Wednesday. Conforto may still be the Cubs' favored option at designated hitter versus right-handed pitching, but Miguel Amaya will start at DH on Wednesday against Brewers lefty Kyle Harrison.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that Berrios underwent full Tommy John surgery Wednesday in addition to having a stress fracture repaired, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

The Blue Jays and Berrios went into the operation unsure whether the pitcher would require a ligament repair, and as it turns out he required a full UCL procedure. Berrios has been sidelined all season with elbow problems and will now likely be shelved until at least the second half of the 2027 campaign.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro told reporters that Thomas will not be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Red Sox due to hamstring soreness, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

Thomas tweaked his hamstring during Tuesday's loss to Boston, but the injury is considered to be minor. He'll be available off the bench for Wednesday's contest while Isaac Collins, Kyle Isbel and Jac Caglianone will start in the outfield from left to right. With the Royals having a day off Thursday, Thomas could be available for Friday's series opener against the Mariners.

Morris struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his first career save in a 4-1 win over the Astros.

The rookie right-hander tossed his hat into the ring for the vacant Twins closing job with an impressive effort, as he needed just 10 pitches (eight strikes) to dispatch the heart of Houston's order, including Yordan Alvarez and Christian Walker. Morris topped out at 97.4 mph with his fastball, and through 9.2 innings in May he's posted a 1.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB while also collecting a win and two holds in eight appearances.

Ryan (3-3) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits over six innings in a 4-1 victory over the Astros. He struck out nine without walking a batter.

The nine Ks were a season high for Ryan, as the right-hander delivered his third straight quality start and his sixth of the year on 99 pitches (71 strikes). Ryan has given up more than two runs only twice in 11 outings, and he'll take a 3.02 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 61:14 K:BB through 56.2 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week against the White Sox.

Durbin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Durbin will hit the bench for a third straight matchup versus a right-handed pitcher and looks to have at least temporarily ceded primary duties at third base to Nick Sogard, who has covered the position in each of those three contests. After a promising rookie campaign in Milwaukee last year, Durbin has mustered a lowly .169/.248/.246 slash line with Boston in 2026. His .495 OPS places him last among the 174 players in the majors who have logged at least 150 plate appearances on the season.

Vaughn is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

It marks the third straight instance that the right-handed-hitting Vaughn has been out of the lineup when the opposition sent a righty to the mound (Edward Cabrera, in this case). Vaughn is hitting .323/.462/.516 in 11 games since coming off the injured list, but Jake Bauers remains the Brewers' primary first baseman against righties, with Christian Yelich filling the designated hitter slot.

Burrows (2-6) took the loss Wednesday as the Astros fell 4-1 to the Twins, giving up four runs on six hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out two.

The right-hander didn't get much support from the Houston offense, but Burrows also got hit hard as half the hits off him went for extra bases, including homers by Victor Caratini and Ryan Kreidler. It's the second straight start in which he's served up multiple long balls and the fifth time in 10 outings on the season. Burrows will carry a 5.75 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB through 56.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come up next week during a road series against the Rangers.

Monasterio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa will get the nod at shortstop Wednesday, but Monasterio looks to be the Red Sox's preferred option at the position while Trevor Story (sports hernia) is stuck on the injured list. Prior to Wednesday, Monasterio had started each of the last six games -- four at shortstop, two at designated hitter -- and went 6-for-22 with three doubles and a run during that stretch.

Rengifo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Rengifo started the first two games of the series, but he will take a seat Wednesday as the Brewers go for the sweep. David Hamilton and Joey Ortiz will form the left side of the infield for the Brewers.
