  • Brandon Young SP | BAL

Orioles' Brandon Young: Solid effort in no-decision

Young did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Rays, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

Young battled despite throwing just 48 of 84 pitches for strikes, falling one out shy of a quality start after allowing a run with two outs in the sixth inning. It continued a consistent campaign for the 28-year-old, who's yielded no more than four earned runs in any of his 22 outings while logging at least five frames 18 times. He'll take a 3.50 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 99:45 K:BB across 123.1 innings this season into a road matchup with the Athletics next weekend.

  • Tanner Scott RP | LAD

Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Locks down 19th save

Scott struck out one in a clean ninth inning to earn the save Saturday against the Pirates.

Back in the closer role for the Dodgers with Edwin Diaz (neck) sidelined, Scott has successfully converted three straight save appearances since Tuesday. Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Diaz will handle a low-leverage role once he returns from the injured list, so it sounds like Scott has a real chance to retain the ninth-inning gig for the remainder of the regular season. The hard-throwing left-hander boasts a 2.24 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 64:11 K:BB over 52.1 innings, collecting 19 saves (21 attempts) and 12 holds.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Mets' Bo Bichette: Smashes 14th home run

Bichette went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Saturday's 10-5 win over the White Sox.

Bichette launched a long ball for the second consecutive game against the White Sox. With his two hits Saturday, the 28-year-old has now picked up at least one base knock in eight of his last nine games. In his first season with the Mets, Bichette is batting .268/.314/.398 with 14 homers and 66 RBI in 557 plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Braden Montgomery: Blasts home run No. 5

Montgomery went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI, a walk and a strikeout during Saturday's 10-5 loss to the Mets.

In the bottom of the second, Montgomery launched a solo shot off Christian Scott to get the scoring started for the White Sox and tie the game 1-1, which snapped his 13-game power drought dating back to Aug. 7. The rookie switch hitter also drew an RBI walk in the fifth to give him his seventh multi-RBI performance of the season. On the campaign, Montgomery is slashing .235/.325/.380 with five homers and 32 RBI in 252 plate appearances.

  • Tarik Skubal SP | LAD

Dodgers' Tarik Skubal: Fans 11 in win

Skubal (8-7) earned the win against the Pirates on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk in seven innings. He struck out 11.

After coughing up three runs in the opening frame, the All-Star left-hander responded by shutting Pittsburgh down the rest of the way to notch his first victory with the Dodgers. He racked up double-digit strikeouts Saturday for the third time this year, and he wound up posting his 12th quality start over 20 appearances on the season as well. Skubal, who has a strong 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB across 24 innings since being traded to the Dodgers, is slated to face his former Tigers teammates in Detroit next weekend.

  • JJ Wetherholt 2B | STL

Cardinals' JJ Wetherholt: Homers in loss

Wetherholt went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 12-3 loss to the Phillies.

Wetherholt singled in the third inning before launching a 417-foot blast in the eighth. It snapped a 20-game power drought for the rookie, who's tallied four multi-hit efforts in his past eight contests but still owns a lowly .626 OPS in 20 August contests. For the year, he's slashing .243/.346/.377 with 17 homers, 47 RBI, 86 runs scored and 13 steals across 566 plate appearances.

  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Homers in rout

Schwarber went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 12-3 win over the Cardinals.

Schwarber drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning before adding a solo blast in the eighth. The 33-year-old is hitting just .216 in 31 games since the All-Star break, but he's now gone deep five times over his past 12 contests. On the season, he's slashing .245/.363/.529 with a major-league-leading 38 long balls, 76 RBI, 75 runs scored and three steals across 555 plate appearances.

  • Jared Jones SP | PIT

Pirates' Jared Jones: Inefficient in no-decision

Jones took a no-decision against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks in four innings. He struck out five.

Facing a vaunted Dodgers lineup, Jones nibbled around the plate Saturday and landed just 48 of his 87 pitches for strikes. The five walks issued are a season worst, and the hard-throwing right-hander has yet to touch the 90-pitch marker in any of his 15 appearances following a delayed start to the season while coming off Tommy John surgery. Jones will carry a shaky 4.76 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 77:26 K:BB over 68 innings into his next scheduled outing in St. Louis.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Goes deep in rout

Harper went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Saturday's 12-3 win over the Cardinals.

Harper struck out in his first three at-bats before launching a three-run shot in the sixth inning. The veteran slugger has now reached base in 25 straight games dating back to July 26, a stretch in which he's tallied five home runs, 14 RBI, 21 runs scored and a fantastic 29:22 BB:K. On the year, he's slashing .257/.378/.492 with 26 homers, 75 RBI, 82 runs scored and seven steals across 555 plate appearances.

  • Pirates' Carmen Mlodzinski: Serving as bulk reliever Sunday

Mlodzinski is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opener Lake Bachar during Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Jason Mackey of MLB.com reports.

Bachar will likely be limited to around 1-to-3 innings before giving way to Mlodzinski, who has been essentially serving as the Pirates' fifth starter since the Aug. 3 trade deadline but has yet to be trusted with a full workload. Over his last three outings, Mlodzinski hasn't covered more than three innings and has posted a 14.04 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and 5:5 K:BB across 8.1 total frames.
