Mesa is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Yankees.

Mesa has now started just one of three games in the series after being in the lineup for nine of the previous 10 contests. Jonny DeLuca will patrol right field and hit fifth for the Rays.

Smith is not in the lineup for Wednesday's tilt in Pittsburgh.

It's righty Jared Jones on the bump for the Pirates, but the left-handed-hitting Smith will begin the contest on the bench. It's the first time since May 6 that Smith has been absent from the lineup when the opposition has a right-hander on the mound. Drake Baldwin is getting a start at designated hitter, and Joey Bart will be Atlanta's catcher.

Lowe is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Phillies.

Lowe is in a lengthy slump at the plate, slashing just .203/.313/.261 without a single RBI over his past 27 games. His playing time has dipped as a result, as Lowe hasn't made consecutive starts since June 26 and 27.

Stephenson is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Phillies.

Stephenson started the previous two contests at catcher, so he will exit the lineup for Wednesday's game. Jose Trevino is behind the dish and batting seventh for the Reds.

The Athletics optioned Muncy to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Muncy is slashing .227/.303/.396 with a 33.1 percent strikeout rate this season, and his playing time has been a bit sporadic since he returned from the injured list in early June. With Muncy demoted to the minors and Tyler Soderstrom (hip) returning from the injured list, Zack Gelof should settle in as the club's primary third baseman.

The Athletics reinstated Soderstrom (hip) from the 10-day injured list, and he'll start at designated hitter and bat cleanup during Wednesday's game in Detroit.

Soderstrom rejoined the Athletics after spending just one day over the minimum amount of time on the shelf while he recovered from a left hip impingement. The Athletics optioned infielder Max Muncy to Triple-A Las Vegas to open up a spot on the active roster for Soderstrom, who looks poised to reclaim an everyday role heading into the All-Star break. Before heading to the IL, Soderstrom had produced an .803 OPS with 13 home runs, one stolen base, 41 RBI and 41 runs over 80 games on the season.

The Red Sox promoted Mullins from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday.

Mullins is expected to make his Worcester debut with a start Wednesday in Game 1 or 2 of the club's doubleheader with Rochester, per Brendan Campbell of BloggingTheRedSox.com. Though the 25-year-old submitted a 5.85 ERA and 1.44 WHIP across 47.2 innings with Portland, he's been one of the Eastern League's most prolific strikeout artists this season, ranking second on the circuit with a 34.8 K%.

Jobe (elbow) struck out a batter and allowed one earned run on two hits and no walks over 1.1 innings in a rehab start Tuesday with Single-A Lakeland.

Pitching in a game for the first time since May 28, 2025, Jobe was eased back into action with a light workload coming off Tommy John surgery. He threw 32 pitches (24 strikes) en route to retiring four of the six batters he faced in the first appearance of what will likely be close to a month-long rehab assignment. Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of Jobe's rehab start was that he already seems to have recaptured his pre-surgery velocity; he topped out at 100.2 mph with his fastball, per MLB.com. In order to claim a spot in Detroit's rotation once he returns from the 60-day injured list, Jobe will need to show that he can maintain both velocity and command while he ups his pitch count during his subsequent minor-league outings.

Whisenhunt joined the Giants' taxi squad Wednesday and could be formally recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to start Thursday's game against the Rockies in San Francisco, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Per Tristi Rodriguez of NBC Sports Bay Area, manager Tony Vitello wouldn't fully commit to Whisenhunt joining the big-league rotation, but the skipper acknowledged that the southpaw is a candidate to make a start before the All-Star break. The Giants are currently listing Thursday's series opener as "TBA," so Whisenhunt would be a logical choice to slot into that spot while Robbie Ray, Tyler Mahle and Trevor McDonald all get pushed back a day in the schedule. Whisenhunt made his lone start of the season with the Giants back on June 17 in Atlanta, striking out two batters while allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. The 25-year-old owns a 4.42 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 82:37 K:BB over 77.1 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

Massey went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, four runs scored and two walks in Tuesday's 16-12 win over the Mets.

Massey reached base four times and scored on each occasion, setting a career high in runs scored. He has driven in a run in three straight games after putting together a season-best five-game RBI streak from May 31 to June 4. Across 73 games this season, the second baseman is slashing .262/.300/.430 with seven homers, 31 RBI, 29 runs and two stolen bases.
