Bogaerts (hamstring) is starting at shortstop and batting sixth against the Twins on Friday.

Bogaerts was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets after tweaking his right hamstring, but the veteran shortstop was able to take advantage of a team off-day Thursday. Bogaerts has a career-low .649 OPS with 16 steals, 11 home runs and 46 RBI over 281 plate appearances this season.

Rodriguez (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Rodriguez has been out for all of August with right elbow neuritis, but he's been cleared to test things out in games. The 24-year-old shouldn't require too many rehab contests, and once he's reinstated the Giants are expected to use the utility player more in the infield than at catcher or in the outfield.

Giants manager Tony Vitello said that Wilkinson could be part of the team's pitching plan for Sunday's game in Boston, though the left-hander won't be used as a traditional starter, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Carson Whisenhunt was initially slated to toe the rubber Sunday, but the 25-year-old southpaw will wind up getting pushed back to Monday at home against the Reds, per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. As a result of the change, the Giants have an opening for the series finale at Fenway Park, and Wilkinson looks like he could be a candidate to serve as an opener or multi-inning option out of the bullpen. The 24-year-old worked as an opener in front of bulk reliever Adrian Houser in his MLB debut Wednesday in Cleveland, recording no strikeouts and giving up one hit over two scoreless frames. Since he'll be available on just three days' rest Sunday, Wilkinson is unlikely to see extended work in what could end up being a bullpen day for the Giants.

Meckler (head) isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Meckler will receive an extra day off to recover after he departed Thursday's game due to taking a pitch off his helmet. Jose Siri, Mike Trout and Josh Lowe will form the Angels' outfield trio Friday while Meckler is on the bench.

Schanuel (side) isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Texas, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Schanuel left Thursday's game early with a side injury, and the Angels will give him an extra day to recover while they match up against left-hander MacKenzie Gore. His absence will cause Vaughn Grissom to move over to first base, opening up second for Oswald Peraza.

Mayer (forearm) had his rehab assignment paused due to a bone bruise in his right foot, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Mayer will rest through the weekend before being re-evaluated early next week. He initially landed on the 10-day injured list in late June with a left forearm stress reaction while still with the Red Sox, before getting sent west at the trade deadline. The 23-year-old has played four rehab games with Triple-A Sacramento, going 6-for-17 with one home run and a 2:9 BB:K. Mayer had appeared in line to make his Giants debut early next week, but that plan is likely on hold.

Whisenhunt was initially slated to face the Red Sox on Sunday at Fenway Park, but the 25-year-old southpaw will instead receive an extra day of rest in between outings. Through his first seven starts of the season with San Francisco, Whisenhunt owns a 7.03 ERA and 1.84 WHIP across 32 innings. He's coming off a rough showing against the Guardians on Tuesday, when he allowed a season-high seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and two walks over four frames.

Heineman isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Heineman went 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run Thursday, but the Angels will keep him on the bench to begin Friday's series opener. Travis d'Arnaud will pick up a start behind the plate as a result and bat eighth.

The Dodgers recalled Gervase from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.

Gervase has allowed two runs with an 8:5 K:BB over 7.2 innings out of the Dodgers' bullpen this season, and he's logged a 4.86 ERA and 46:31 K:BB in 37 frames with Oklahoma City. The tall righty will likely provide low-leverage relief while up with the big-league club.

Gimenez (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Yankees.

Gimenez was pulled from Thursday's game with a right hamstring injury and remains day-to-day for Toronto. With Josh Smith now nursing a hamstring injury of his own, the Blue Jays are starting Ernie Clement at shortstop and Charles McAdoo at second base Friday.
