Santander is still dealing with discomfort in his surgically repaired left shoulder and recently received another cortisone shot, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Santander underwent surgery to repair his labrum back in February and has yet to resume swinging the bat. It's becoming increasingly unlikely that he plays this season. Signed to a five-year, $92.5 million deal following the 2024 season, Santander's tenure in Toronto has been a nightmare after he slashed just .175/.271/.294 across 54 games last regular season.

Jones will no longer make a start for the Pirates on Friday after their game versus the Guardians was postponed due to air quality conditions.

The contest will be made up as part of a split doubleheader Saturday. Jones will presumably take the ball in one of those games, though it's unclear at this point which one.

Scherzer was originally placed on the injured list last month due to back spasms, so he must have re-injured his thumb in his rehab start last Wednesday. The veteran right-hander has dealt with a laundry list of injuries this season, limiting him to six starts. Scherzer has posted a 10.23 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB across 22 innings when healthy enough to pitch.

Hall (pectoral) threw a 20-pitch live batting practice session Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Hall reached up to 95-to-96 mph with his fastball in the session and threw all of his pitches. The left-hander could begin a rehab assignment as soon as Sunday and believes he will be ready to rejoin the Milwaukee bullpen after making 2-to-3 rehab appearances in the minors. Hall has been shelved since early June with a left pectoral strain.

Durbin went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 10-0 win over the Rays in the first game of Friday's doubleheader.

He also got hit by a pitch. Durbin continues to wield a hot stick, posting a third multi-hit game over his last six contests. He entered Friday's matinee on a roll with a .325 batting average (26-for-80), five doubles, six home runs, 13 RBI, five steals and 17 runs scored over his previous 23 games.

Julien is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Reds.

After making five straight starts at second base against right-handed pitching, the lefty-swinging Julien has now sat out two straight versus righties. Willi Castro will man the keystone for the Rockies on Friday.

Carrigg is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Reds.

Carrigg went 0-for-14 with seven strikeouts in his last five games before the All-Star break and will begin the first game of the second half on the bench. Mickey Moniak, Jake McCarthy and Tyler Freeman will patrol the outfield for the Rockies in Friday's series opener.

The Athletics transferred Rooker (knee) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Rooker has already been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season, and he recently underwent surgery to repair torn cartilage. He's expected to be ready for the start of spring training in February. When healthy this season, Rooker slashed a disappointing .200/.281/.389 with 10 homers, 29 RBI, 20 runs scored, two stolen bases and a 19:65 BB:K across 203 trips to the plate.

Martinez (foot) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Martinez hasn't played since June 13 due to a broken left foot but will see five innings of action Friday. Martinez had been filling an everyday role in the outfield for the Guardians prior to his injury and has slashed .239/.276/.442 with 11 homers, 33 RBI, 28 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a 7:53 BB:K across 243 plate appearances this season.
