Jarvis went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and a double in Thursday's 10-5 win over the Pirates.
Jarvis extended Atlanta's lead to 5-2 in the fourth inning with his two-run, 397-foot blast off Cam Sanders, the first homer of his big-league career. Jarvis has seen regular playing time at shortstop since he was recalled from Triple-A in early July. He's gone 6-for-19 across five games after slashing .313/.406/.461 with six homers across 348 plate appearances in the minors this year.

Braves' Jim Jarvis: Sitting after three straight starts
Rotowire
Jarvis is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
Jarvis had started at shortstop in each of Atlanta's last three games, but after going 2-for-10 with a walk and an RBI during that stretch, he'll retreat to the bench while Jorge Mateo covers the position Wednesday. Jarvis and Mateo will likely share time at the position until Ronald Acuna's (hamstring) eventual return from the 10-day injured list allows Atlanta to move Mauricio Dubon out of the corner outfield and back into an everyday role at shortstop.

Braves' Jim Jarvis: Back in big leagues
Rotowire
Atlanta recalled Jarvis from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Jarvis has had a breakout season this year at Gwinnett, slashing .313/.406/.461 with six home runs, 32 stolen bases and a 46:55 BB:K over 76 games. He was up briefly with Atlanta in May, going 1-for-5 at the plate. Shortstop is Jarvis' main position, and he's expected to start there Thursday versus the Cardinals, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Jarvis would have some fantasy potential -- particularly in the stolen-base department -- if he receives regular playing time, but there's no guarantee that will happen.

Braves' Jim Jarvis: Receives first big-league call-up
Rotowire
Atlanta selected Jarvis' contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Outfielder Jose Azocar was designated for assignment in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Jarvis, who will be making his MLB debut if and when he gets into a game. Though he's primarily been used at shortstop during his minor-league career, Jarvis has experience at second base and third base and is likely to serve as a utility infielder for Atlanta. Jarvis has shown excellent contact skills, plate discipline and speed during his time with Gwinnett this season, posting a .305/.418/.445 batting line while notching 15 steals in 17 attempts over 153 plate appearances.
