The White Sox placed Hays (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Hays suffered a right hamstring strain while playing the outfield during Monday's 2-1 win over the Orioles. Manager Will Venable said Tuesday that Hays' injury is considered a Grade 1 strain and will sideline the outfielder 2-to-4 weeks, per Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com. Andrew Benintendi could see more action in left field while Hays is out, and Derek Hill, Tanner Murray and Dustin Harris are also options at the position for the White Sox.

The Orioles transferred Eflin (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

There's no word yet on the second opinion of the MRI on Eflin's right elbow. However, it's not a good sign that the Orioles have elected to shift him to the 60-IL, which makes Eflin ineligible to return until May 31. Brandon Young pitched well Monday versus the White Sox in Eflin's place, and his performance could earn him another start this weekend versus the Giants.

The Guardians recalled Brito from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Brito is starting at second base and batting sixth in Tuesday's game against the Royals in what will be his major-league debut. The 24-year-old missed much of the 2025 season due to thumb and hamstring surgeries, but he was off to a hot start at Columbus, slashing .314/.405/.457 with a 6:3 BB:K. Brito should get a good number of reps at second base while Brayan Rocchio shifts over to shortstop to cover for the injured Gabriel Arias (hamstring).

The Guardians placed Arias on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left hamstring strain, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Arias suffered the injury during Monday's game versus the Royals while legging out a double. It's considered a moderate strain, so Arias will need more than a minimum 10-day absence. Brayan Rocchio will likely shift over from second base to be the Guardians everyday shortstop while Arias is sidelined. Second base should be manned primarily by Daniel Schneemann against righties, though Juan Brito has been recalled and is starting at the keystone Tuesday versus a lefty.

Horton (forearm) will get a second opinion from Dr. Keith Meister in Texas on Tuesday after an initial MRI did not yield favorable results, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Horton exited his last start and was subsequently placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right forearm strain. It sounds like the initial prognosis points to a long-term injury and perhaps surgery, but more will be known after the hurler gets a second opinion Tuesday. The Cubs have yet to announce who will take Horton's spot in the rotation Wednesday against the Rays, but Colin Rea is one candidate.

Contreras went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run and two RBI in Monday's 8-6 loss to Milwaukee. He was also hit by a pitch.

Contreras delivered his first multi-hit game and was involved in all four innings in which the Red Sox scored, but the event causing the most drama was the HBP. He was buzzed by a fastball that barely struck his hand in the third inning, but it fired up Contreras -- it was the 24th time he's been hit by a pitch by Brewers pitchers over the years, and he had a message. "They always say, 'I'm not trying to hit you.' That gets old," Contreras told Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. "So next time they hit me again, I'm going to take one of them out. That's the message." Contreras has turned around a slow start, going 7-for-21 over the last six contests, and he's reached base safely in nine of 10 games played (.409 OBP) to go along with three extra-base hits and four RBI.

Story batted fifth and went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Monday's 8-6 loss to the Brewers.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora dropped Story from second to fifth in the order, and the move paid dividends early, when Story singled in a run in the first inning. He later drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. While Story's offense (.130 average, .143 with RISP) has been a contributing factor to the team's malaise, it's far from the lone issue tormenting Boston which is an MLB-worst 2-8 due to a variety of reasons.

Burger went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's 2-1 win over the Mariners.

Burger, who extended a hit streak to four games, belted a two-out double in the sixth inning to drive in the game-winning run. The slugging first baseman and Rangers' cleanup batter had gone five games without an RBI. He's hit safely in nine of 10 games played, going 13-for-41 (.317) with six extra-base hits and seven RBI to start the season.

Seager went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 2-1 win over Seattle.

Seager, who entered the contest on a 1-for-12 run with zero RBI over the previous three games, turned that trend around immediately. He helped erase an early Seattle lead in the first inning with an RBI single. He later scored the game-winning run. Seager's played all 10 of the Rangers' games thus far and is batting .270 with three home runs, six RBI, a stolen base and seven runs scored.

Garcia retired the side in order in the eighth inning and earned a hold in a 2-1 win over the Mariners on Monday.

The left-handed Garcia, who is part of a committee of closers, entered the eighth inning with a string of lefties due up. He worked a 1-2-3 inning to record his second hold of the season. Jakob Junis followed him in the ninth inning to record his first save. Garcia has a 2.25 ERA through five outings, having allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks while striking out three over four innings.
