Bryson Stott 2B | PHI
Phillies' Bryson Stott: Back to bench versus lefty
Stott is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.
The left-handed-hitting Stott made a rare start against a lefty Tuesday, but he will retreat back to the bench Thursday as the Mets send southpaw David Peterson to the bump. Weston Wilson is at second base for the Phillies in what will be just his fourth-ever start at the keystone at the big-league level.

Otto Lopez SS | MIA
Marlins' Otto Lopez: Sitting down Thursday
Lopez isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.
Lopez will get a chance to rest Thursday after going 7-for-15 with two homers and six RBI over his last four games. Maximo Acosta will slide over to shortstop as a result, opening up third base for Javier Sanoja.

Ryan Weathers SP | NYY
Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Returns from IL to start Thursday
The Marlins activated Weathers (lat) from the 60-day injured list Thursday to start Thursday against the Nationals.
Weathers will make his return to the Marlins' rotation for his first big-league start since June 7. The left-hander has been limited to only five starts in the majors this season, first missing time due to a forearm strain and more recently a lat strain. Weathers threw 68 pitches in his second of two rehab outings, so his workload will be relatively limited versus the Nats.

Seth Martinez RP | BOS
Marlins' Seth Martinez: Jettisoned from 40-man
The Marlins designated Martinez for assignment Thursday.
Martinez has made six appearances since joining the active roster Aug. 27, across which he coughed up four earned runs over 6.2 innings. He'll now lose his place on the MLB and 40-man rosters to make room for Ryan Weathers' (lat) return from the 60-day IL.

MacKenzie Gore SP | TEX
Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Activated ahead of Thursday's start
The Nationals activated Gore (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Gore will rejoin the Nationals' rotation Thursday against the Marlins after missing the last two weeks of action with left shoulder inflammation. The southpaw did not make a rehab start, and it doesn't appear he faced live hitters while on the IL, either, settling for just a couple bullpen sessions. That means Gore could have a relatively abbreviated workload versus the Marlins.

Jonathon Long 3B | CHC
Cubs' Jonathon Long: Hits 20th homer
Long is slashing .311/.410/.492 with 20 home runs, a 13.2 percent walk rate and a 19.1 percent strikeout rate in 132 games for Triple-A Iowa.
The righty-hitting first baseman did everything in his power to force a promotion to the big leagues, but he's not on the 40-man roster and there's a logjam ahead of him on the organizational depth chart. Long has dabbled at third base and in left field, but it's unlikely the Cubs would play him at either of those positions in the majors. Michael Busch starts at first base against righties and Seiya Suzuki has started 102 games at designated hitter this year, with prospects who are on the 40-man like Moises Ballesteros, Owen Caissie and Kevin Alcantara also muddying Long's playing time outlook for 2026. Despite Long's stellar age-23 campaign, he won't need to be added to the 40-man roster this offseason, so he will probably return to Triple-A next year for an indefinite period.

Yosver Zulueta SP | SEA
Reds' Yosver Zulueta: Pushed back to Triple-A
The Reds optioned Zulueta to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.
With Graham Ashcraft (forearm) and Chase Burns (elbow) both returning from the injured list Thursday, the Reds will move Zulueta and Lyon Richardson to Triple-A in order to create roster space. Zulueta gave up two runs over two innings during his latest stint with Cincinnati, elevating his big-league ERA to 6.14 through 7.1 frames.

Graham Ashcraft RP | CIN
Reds' Graham Ashcraft: Makes return from IL
The Reds activated Ashcraft (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Ashcraft was shelved for the past two weeks with a right forearm strain, but he'll skip a rehab assignment and rejoin the Reds' bullpen for their weekend series against the Athletics. The right-hander has posted a 3.72 ERA and 56:24 K:BB over 58 innings in 2025 in his first season as a full-time reliever.

Chase Burns SP | CIN
Reds' Chase Burns: Activated from injured list
The Reds activated Burns (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Burns wound up missing a month of action with a Grade 1 right flexor strain. He did not go out on a rehab assignment, and the Reds' plan is to deploy the rookie flamethrower as a reliever down the stretch. While Burns is likely to be quite successful in a relief role, he will not be used as the team's closer, so it will be difficult for him to churn out much fantasy value in the final weeks.
