Luis Torrens DH | NYM
Mets' Luis Torrens: Playing time on upswing
Torrens got his third straight start Wednesday, and his work with the pitching staff could continue to earn him more playing time, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Francisco Alvarez got the start at DH in two of those contests as Mets manager Carlos Mendoza focuses his lineup construction on run prevention to help his struggling club. David Peterson in particular has pitched much better with Torrens behind the plate, so the 30-year-old could end up as the personal catcher for the southpaw. Through 42 plate appearances this season, however, Torrens has zero home runs and a .476 OPS that would be his worst mark since he was a rookie in 2017.

Yacksel Rios RP | CHC
Cubs' Yacksel Rios: Outrighted to Triple-A
The Cubs outrighted Rios to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday.
Rios had been removed from the 40-man roster and went unclaimed on waivers. The 32-year-old reliever has the ability to decline the outright assignment and elect free agency, but it's unclear what he plans to do. Rios tossed 1.2 scoreless innings in his lone outing with the Cubs.

Andrew Fischer 3B | MIL
Brewers' Andrew Fischer: Flashing power at High-A
Fischer has gone 9-for-40 (.225) with six home runs, two doubles 10 RBI and a 4:21 BB:K over his last 10 games with High-A Wisconsin.
Fischer went yard just once over his first 15 games of the season, but the extra-base hits have been coming in bunches in recent weeks. While the power is not a concern for Fischer, his 39.1 percent strikeout percentage on the season is, and he may need to make some strides in that department before the Brewers move him up the ranks.

J.J. Bleday LF | CIN
Reds' JJ Bleday: Hits in five straight
Bleday went 2-for-5 with an RBI and was caught stealing in Wednesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Cubs.
Bleday's two-hit night upped a hit streak to five games, during which he's 7-for-20 with a double, three home runs, five RBI and five runs scored. The attempted steal was his first in nine games for Cincinnati, but speed has not historically been a feature of Bleday's game -- he's stolen 12 bases (caught seven times) over 409 MLB games prior to this season. The lefty-hitting outfielder has become a lineup regular against right-handers since being called up from the minors last week and recently moved to second in the order.

Brady House 3B | WAS
Nationals' Brady House: Goes yard, plates three runs
House went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double, three total RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over the Twins.
House delivered an RBI double that scored CJ Abrams in the sixth inning and later launched a two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh. The third baseman recorded his first multi-hit performance since April 14, but he's been seeing the ball well overall. He has hit safely in 11 of his last 14 games, slashing .250/.321/.458 with a .779 OPS, three homers, 11 RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base across that span.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Hits grand slam Wednesday
Abrams went 3-for-5 with a grand slam, two doubles, an additional RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's win over the Twins.
Abrams plated a run in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI double that scored James Wood and later crossed home plate in the bottom of the sixth following an RBI double from Brady House. However, his big moment would come in the bottom of the eighth with one out, as he cleared the bases with the second grand slam of his career. Abrams now has nine homers on the year and recorded a multi-hit performance for the fourth time in his last seven games, a stretch where he's hitting .423 with a robust 1.269 OPS across 30 plate appearances.

Miles Mikolas SP | WAS
Nationals' Miles Mikolas: Earns first win of season
Mikolas (1-3) earned the win Wednesday against the Twins after allowing two runs on three hits across 5.1 innings, fanning three.
Mikolas delivered his best outing of the season Wednesday, as he pitched into the sixth inning for the first time in 2026 and allowed two or fewer runs in four of his last six starts. The long balls remain an issue, however, as he's given up nine home runs across 32.2 innings. Mikolas has a long way to go before being worthy of consideration as a streaming option in most formats, but this was a step in the right direction. He's scheduled to make his next start at Cincinnati next week.

Eury Perez SP | MIA
Marlins' Eury Perez: Control issues surface again
Perez (2-4) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Orioles after allowing five runs on four hits and five walks across five innings. He struck out six.
Perez has been charged with the loss in each of his last three outings, failing to complete at least six frames each time and allowing at least four earned runs twice. The control issues plagued him in this loss to Baltimore, as he was coming off five straight appearances in which he had given up two or fewer walks. On a more positive note, however, this was his fourth consecutive outing with six or more strikeouts. Perez will carry a 5.01 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 45:21 K:BB across 41.1 innings this season into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled against the Twins on the road next week.

Jake McCarthy RF | COL
Rockies' Jake McCarthy: Pops first homer
McCarthy went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to the Mets.
This was McCarthy's first homer of the season. The veteran outfielder has gone 10-for-27 (.370) over his last 10 games. Overall, he's batting .262 with a .784 OPS, nine RBI, seven runs scored, six stolen bases, five doubles and two triples across 77 plate appearances this season. McCarthy is filling the strong side of a platoon in center field for the Rockies.

TJ Rumfield 3B | COL
Rockies' TJ Rumfield: Homers in three-hit game
Rumfield went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to the Mets.
Rumfield got the Rockies on the board in the sixth inning with his fifth home run of the season. This was his second three-hit effort in the last three games, and both of those performances have included a long ball. In addition to the homers, the first baseman is up to 20 RBI, 13 runs scored, six doubles and a triple while batting .274 with a .780 OPS over 37 contests this season. The rookie has carved out an everyday role through steady hitting and good plate discipline (12:23 BB:K).
