  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Diagnosed with torn meniscus

The Giants placed Schmitt on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left knee meniscus tear.

The 27-year-old faces the possibility of being shut down for the season, even if the severity of the tear isn't a worst-case scenario. In a corresponding move, the Giants selected Osleivis Basabe from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.

  • Hunter Dobbins SP | STL

Cardinals' Hunter Dobbins: Optioned to Triple-A

The Cardinals optioned Dobbins to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Dobbins gave up four earned runs in 5.1 innings while serving in a piggyback role Monday, and he'll now head back to Triple-A to make room in the bullpen for Peter Strzelecki. Despite a poor showing Monday, Dobbins still owns a 3.74 ERA through 33.2 innings in the majors and could potentially rejoin St. Louis' rotation soon if the Cardinals unload another starter before the trade deadline.

  • Cardinals' Peter Strzelecki: Added to bullpen

The Cardinals selected Strzelecki's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

After signing a minor-league deal with the Cardinals on Saturday, Strzelecki will now grab a spot in the big-league bullpen, filling the roster spot vacated by Hunter Dobbins. Strzelecki hasn't pitched in the majors since 2024, but he posted a 3.94 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 38:6 K:BB in 32 innings between the Yankees' and Brewers' Triple-A affiliates.

  • Kyle Karros 3B | COL

Rockies' Kyle Karros: Scratched with biceps inflammation

Karros was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against San Diego due to left biceps inflammation.

The severity of Karros' injury is unknown, but the Rockies could provide more information regarding a return timeline in the near future. In the meantime, Willi Castro will fill in as Colorado's third baseman and bat seventh.

  • Jake Bauers 1B | MIL

Brewers' Jake Bauers: Diagnosed with fractured toe

X-rays revealed a fracture in Bauers' right big toe after Monday's game against the Giants, Hunter Baumgardt of Fox Sports 920 Milwaukee reports.

Bauers fouled a ball off his foot during the fifth inning of Monday's contest and was later removed in the seventh. He's scheduled to undergo additional imaging Tuesday to help determine next steps and whether a stint on the IL is necessary. As long as Bauers is out, Andrew Vaughn is likely to start regularly at first base, and Luis Lara also figures to see an uptick in playing time in the outfield.

  • Jung Hoo Lee RF | SF

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Back in action Tuesday

Lee (elbow) will start in right field and bat fifth Tuesday against the Brewers, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Lee sat out the Giants' last two games due to elbow soreness, but he'll return to the lineup now that the issue appears to have subsided. The 27-year-old outfielder has slashed .300/.364/.500 with a homer, four RBI and five runs scored across eight games since the All-Star break.

  • Edwin Arroyo 2B | CIN

Reds' Edwin Arroyo: On bench for Game 2 on Tuesday

Arroyo is not the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Guardians.

Arroyo went 1-for-4 with a RBI single and scored a run but also committed a key error at second base in a 6-5 loss during the matinee. As he rests on the bench during the second part of the twin bill, Ivan Johnson has the start at second and is batting seventh.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Taking seat Tuesday

Swanson isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Swanson has tallied at least one base hit in six of his last seven games, but the Cubs will keep him on the bench to begin Tuesday's contest. Nico Hoerner will slide over to shortstop as a result, opening up second base for Pedro Ramirez.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Idle for Tuesday's nightcap

Stephenson is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Guardians.

Jose Trevino is receiving catching duties and batting eighth during the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader. Stephenson went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and scored a run in a Game 1 6-5 loss.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Resting in second game of twin bill

Suarez is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Guardians.

Suarez started in the first part of the doubleheader Tuesday, which was a 6-5 loss to the Guardians, and he went 0-for-4. He'll rest during the nightcap, with Sal Stewart featuring as the designated hitter and Ke'Bryan Hayes starting at third base.
