  • Dodgers' Julian Fernandez: Added to roster

The Dodgers selected Fernandez's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Fernandez has posted a 4.08 ERA and 32:10 K:BB over 28.2 inning this season with Oklahoma City. If the 29-year-old gets into a game, it would be his first at the big-league level since 2021.

  • James Outman CF | DET

Dodgers' James Outman: Recalled from Triple-A

The Dodgers recalled Outman from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

The Dodgers have some banged up outfielders, so Outman will provide depth in that area in the final week before the All-Star break. Outman has gone 3-for-24 with two home runs during his brief time in the majors this season.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Placed on 10-day injured list

The Dodgers placed Hernandez on the 10-day injured list Monday with left elbow inflammation.

Manager Dave Roberts said it's an injury Hernandez has dealt with for about a month, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Because the injury is to his non-throwing elbow, Hernandez would seem to have a good chance to return when first eligible at the start of the second half.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

Brewers' Andrew Vaughn: Starting at first base against RHP

Vaughn will start at first base and bat fifth in Monday's game versus the Dodgers.

The Brewers are throwing Vaughn right into the lineup after he took the roster spot of the injured Rhys Hoskins (thumb). While the Brewers also figure to give Jake Bauers reps at first base while Hoskins is out, it's notable that the right-handed-hitting Vaughn is getting the first shot against Dodgers right Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Vaughn was acquired via trade from the White Sox last month after he slashed .248/.303/.407 in parts of five seasons with the Pale Hose.

  • Joseph Ortiz SS | MIL

Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Out of lineup again Monday

Ortiz is out of the lineup for Monday's game versus the Dodgers.

Ortiz is getting a second straight day off as he battles through a 4-for-29 slump at the dish, with Brewers manager Pat Murphy saying he wants Ortiz to clean up his swing decisions, per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Andruw Monasterio will fill in at shortstop again for Milwaukee.

  • Jose Herrera C | TEX

    Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Idle Monday

Herrera is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

Herrera and James McCann have now made four starts apiece behind the plate over the Diamondbacks' last eight games, but the playing time could eventually tilt in the latter catcher's favor. Since he signed with Arizona on June 23, McCann has posted a 1.259 OPS over five games, while Herrera has slashed just .176/.300/.176 over that same period.

  • Hunter Greene SP | CIN

Reds' Hunter Greene: Not ready to make rehab start

Greene won't make a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday as planned after he felt renewed tightness in his right groin, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

Greene may have had an outside chance at pitching in the Reds' final game before the All-Star break Sunday versus the Rockies if he had made it out of the rehab start no worse for the wear, but the setback with the groin officially closes the door on a first-half return. The right-hander labeled himself as day-to-day and said he underwent another MRI, but the Reds have yet to reveal the findings from his latest medical testing. Once the MRI results are in, the Reds will likely have a clearer idea regarding when Greene can ramp up his throwing again and potentially head out on a rehab assignment. Greene was initially placed on the injured list June 4 due to the Grade 1 right groin strain, and he also required an epidural shortly thereafter to address back soreness.

  • Dane Myers CF | CIN

Marlins' Dane Myers: Out of Miami lineup

Myers is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Cincinnati.

Myers has maintained his grip on the Marlins' center field job since Derek Hill returned from the injured list last week, but he will give way to Hill for Monday's series opener against the Reds. The 29-year-old Myers is slashing only .182/.250/.200 over his last 16 contests.

  • Otto Lopez SS | MIA

Marlins' Otto Lopez: Getting rare day off Monday

Lopez is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Reds.

Lopez will exit the starting nine for the first time since May 27 while he's gone just 3-for-22 at the dish so far in July. Javier Sanoja will start at shortstop and bat ninth as the Marlins open a series in Cincinnati.

  • JJ Wetherholt 2B | STL

Cardinals' JJ Wetherholt: Heads to Triple-A

The Cardinals promoted Wetherholt from Double-A Springfield to Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

Wetherholt slashed .300/.425/.466 with seven home runs, 14 stolen bases and a 40:44 K:BB over 62 games with Springfield to earn the promotion. He had his first two-home-run game of his career Sunday and had collected a 1.012 OPS since June 1 with Springfield. Wetherholt has split his playing time between shortstop and second base this season, but with Masyn Winn holding down shortstop in the majors, Wetherholt's future is likely at the keystone. While it's possible the 2024 first-round pick could push to join the big club in the second half of this season, a 2026 MLB debut is more likely.
