Lake Bachar RP | MIA
Marlins' Lake Bachar: Serving as opener Monday
Bachar will serve as the Marlins' opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Nationals.
Bachar has tossed more than three innings in any of his 46 appearances between the majors and minors this season and hasn't covered more than two frames since the All-Star break, so he'll likely be in line to face just a handful of batters before exiting his first career MLB start. The Marlins are likely to treat Monday's contest as a bullpen day and will rely on a cadre of relievers to fill innings once Bachar is removed from the game.

Andrew Alvarez RP | WAS
Nationals' Andrew Alvarez: Added to roster ahead of debut
The Nationals selected Alvarez's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.
Alvarez is set to make his major-league debut Monday with a start at home against the Marlins, taking the rotation spot of the injured MacKenzie Gore (shoulder). The left-handed Alvarez held a 4.10 ERA and 114:52 K:BB over 123 innings covering 25 starts for Rochester this season. He should receive multiple turns in the rotation while Gore is shelved.

Justin Hagenman SP | NYM
Mets' Justin Hagenman: Moves up from Triple-A
The Mets recalled Hagenman from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.
Hagenman will provide the New York bullpen with another right-handed option who's capable of covering multiple innings, but his usage will likely be limited to lower-leverage spots. Through seven appearances (one start) with the Mets this season, Hagenman has submitted a 3.26 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 20:2 K:BB over 19.1 innings.

Luisangel Acuna CF | CHW
Mets' Luisangel Acuna: Rejoins big club
The Mets recalled Acuna from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.
Acuna, who has seen the vast majority of his playing time at second base with the big club this season, is expected to occupy a bench role in September. The 23-year-old righty hitter hit .303 with zero home runs and eight steals in 28 games at Triple-A and has batted .239 with zero home runs and 12 steals in 175 plate appearances with the Mets in 2025.

Spencer Steer LF | CIN
Reds' Spencer Steer: Rare day off Monday
Steer is absent from the lineup for Monday's game versus the Blue Jays.
Steer will yield first base to Sal Stewart, who was called up from Triple-A Louisville to make his major-league debut. Stewart could bounce around to a few infield positions as well as designated hitter in order to get his bat in the lineup, but Steer should still man first base most days for the Reds. Steer had started each of the last 10 contests before sitting out Monday.

Sal Stewart 1B | CIN
Reds' Sal Stewart: Gets call to majors
The Reds selected Stewart's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Monday. He will start at first base and bat sixth in the Reds' series opener versus the Blue Jays.
Stewart has been a consistent producer throughout his minor-league career, and he started getting to more over-the-fence power in his age-21 season. He slashed .309/.383/.524 with 20 home runs, 17 steals and a 15.6 percent strikeout rate in 118 games across Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A. Stewart is capable of playing second, third and first base and should get regular work down the stretch. He's more of an average runner than a plus runner, so his speed may not translate in September, but Stewart's hitting ability, role and home park make him a worthwhile roster addition in fantasy.

Fernando Tatis Jr. RF | SD
Padres' Fernando Tatis: Battles tight hamstring Sunday
Tatis acknowledged that he felt "a little tightness" in his right hamstring during Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Twins, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Tatis was seen grabbing at his hamstring during the seventh inning. He eventually exited the contest during the eighth inning, although his departure seemed to be more as a result of the game being out of reach, as the Padres pulled a couple other starters, as well. Tatis was walking around fine after the game and said he would be back in the lineup Monday against the Orioles.

Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL
Braves' Reynaldo Lopez: Unlikely to pitch again in 2025
Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Aug. 14 that Lopez (shoulder) is unlikely to return from the 60-day injured list before the end of the season, MLB.com reports.
Snitker didn't specifically note that Lopez has experienced a setback in his recovery from the arthroscopic right shoulder surgery that he underwent in April. However, with Atlanta well removed from playoff contention heading into the final month of the season, Lopez won't be rushed along in his rehab program. Lopez resumed playing catch about a month ago and could continue throwing in September with the aim of having something close to a normal offseason. The right-hander is under club control through 2027 and should be in the running for a rotation spot next spring.
