Tyler Mahle SP | SF
Giants' Tyler Mahle: Dazzles over 5.1 innings Sunday
Mahle didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Rays, allowing four hits and one walk with five strikeouts across 5.1 shutout innings.
Mahle was in line for the victory before Ryan Walker allowed the tying run to cross in the bottom of the eighth. Sunday was Mahle's second scoreless outing in his last three starts, and all four hits he allowed to Tampa Bay were singles. After posting an ugly 7.23 ERA through his first four starts, Mahle now owns a 5.00 ERA and 34:18 K:BB across 35 innings. The right-hander should make his next start in next weekend's home series against the Pirates.

The outfielder remains red hot, as he's now up to four multi-homer games in 2026 and carries a 16-game hitting streak. Arizona outrighted Valdez to Double-A Amarillo on Sunday.
Valdez will remain with Arizona's organization after clearing waivers, but he will now drop down a level in the minor-league system. The 28-year-old had his contract selected by the Diamondbacks to serve as the team's 27th man during the squad's Mexico City Series against the Padres in late April, but he failed to appear in a contest before being optioned to Triple-A Reno.

He opened the scoring for Atlanta with a two-run blast in the second inning before adding another extra-base hit with a two-RBI double in the ninth to extend the lead. The 30-year-old's playing time has been limited with Baldwin's success behind the plate, as Heim has logged 45 plate appearances in 2026, slashing .231/.311/.410 with a homer, four doubles, eight RBI and four runs.

Sunday was his first time batting in the lower third of the order after serving primarily as the team's cleanup batter when previously healthy.
