The Nationals designated Krook for assignment Monday.

Krook walked all three batters he faced and was charged with two runs in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks, and he finds himself off the 26-man and 40-man rosters a day later. Paxton Schultz will absorb Krook's spot on the roster and in the bullpen.

House went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Seeing his first action in the big leagues since May 18, House carved out his share of a 10-run, 15-hit attack by the Nationals that included nine extra-base hits. The 23-year-old will get a long look at third base due to Curtis Mead now being in Boston. Over 50 games with Triple-A Rochester this season, House put together a .301/.342/.500 slash line with eight homers, 26 runs and 34 RBI.

Susana (lat) faced hitters last week and could see his first game action of the season soon, Spencer Nusbaum of The Athletic reports.

The 22-year-old right-hander with the triple-digit fastball underwent lat surgery last September, but Susana appears to be entering the final stages of his recovery. The Nationals still plan to continue his development as a starting pitcher once he's activated from the IL, but if the team does squeak into the playoffs in 2026, his elite raw stuff could make him an option for a Washington bullpen that has lacked reliable high-leverage relievers all season.

The Reds placed Steer on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right wrist sprain.

Steer suffered the injury on an awkward swing during Sunday's contest in St. Louis. The Reds have not yet revealed a timetable for Steer, but Buster Olney of ESPN reported earlier Monday that the 28-year-old is expected to miss "significant time." Noelvi Marte could see a playing time bump for the Reds while Steer is sidelined.

The Reds recalled Johnson from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

Johnson went 0-for-5 at the dish during a previous stint in the majors. The 27-year-old utility player is grabbing the roster spot vacated by the injured Spencer Steer (wrist) and is likely to operate in a reserve role.

Steer was forced out of Sunday's 5-3 win over the Cardinals in the fifth inning, after he felt some discomfort when he fouled a pitch off the end of his bat. The Reds labeled his injury as right wrist pain and indicated that he would visit a specialist Monday for further imaging. While the team has yet to provide an official update on Steer's status, Olney's report suggests that an MRI revealed a major injury. With a .740 OPS over 98 games this season, the versatile Steer was expected to be a coveted right-handed bat ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline, but his impending move to the IL will likely take any potential deal off the table.

Merrill went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-3 win against Miami on Sunday.

Merrill came up big in the eighth inning, snapping 3-3 tie with a solo blast to right-center field. It was the outfielder's fifth long ball over his past eight games after we went deep just 10 times across his first his first 95 contests of the campaign. During the aforementioned eight-game stretch, Merrill is slashing a robust .433/.438/1.000 with seven runs, eight RBI and a stolen base.

High-A Greensboro placed Hernandez on its 7-day injured list Saturday due a left oblique discomfort, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

Hernandez's most recent appearance with Greensboro came Friday, when he logged three shutout innings with five strikeouts. The Pirates haven't provided an update on the severity of the young right-hander's injury, making it difficult to project whether he'll pitch again in 2026. Hernandez has put together a dominant first season in the professional ranks, collecting a 2.43 ERA and 118:31 K:BB over 74 innings between Greensboro and Single-A Bradenton.

Lee struck out one and gave up a solo home run in one inning of relief Sunday to record his 20th hold of the season in an extra-innings win over the Orioles.

Atlanta's staff had a shutout going until Lee served up a homer to Pete Alonso in the eighth inning, but they didn't lose the lead until Raisel Iglesias blew the save in the ninth. Lee has been tagged for at least one run in four of his last five appearances, but even after that skid he still sports a 2.27 ERA on the season, along with a 0.76 WHIP and 60:8 K:BB over 47.2 innings, and he remains the top left-handed option in manager Walt Weiss' bullpen.

Smith went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's extra-innings win over the Orioles.

The veteran slugger gave Atlanta a 2-0 lead with RBI singles in the second and fourth innings in an eventual 11-inning victory. It was Smith's first multi-hit performance since June 19, and over 57 plate appearances in July he's managed just a .220/.316/.300 slash line with one homer and nine RBI. Ronald Acuna's return from the IL on Monday will crowd Atlanta's playing time picture even further, and Smith seems likely to lose at-bats against right-handed pitching to Mike Yastrzemski, who is set to get more action at DH rather than in a corner outfield spot.
