White Sox's Davis Martin: Fans five in no-decision

Martin didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Yankees, surrendering three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.1 innings.

Martin labored through the opening frame, needing 26 pitches to complete the inning, with a run coming across before he was able to escape. The right-hander later gave up back-to-back singles in the fifth inning before being lifted, and both runners eventually came around to score. It was just the third time all season that Martin failed to complete five innings in 25 starts. The 28-year-old will finish the regular season with a 4.10 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 104:48 K:BB across 142.2 innings.

  • Jake Mangum LF | TB

Rays' Jake Mangum: Closing season well

Mangum went 3-for-5 on Thursday against the Orioles.

Mangum is closing the season well, recording multiple hits in three of his last seven games. He also tallied his third homer Wednesday, his first since July 2. Given Mangum's strong defense in the outfield and his passable performance at the plate, he should be in line to compete for playing time in 2026.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Grabs win no. 18

Rodon (18-9) earned the win Thursday against the White Sox, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings.

In his career-high 33rd start of the season, the left-hander gave up a two-run homer to Michael Taylor in the fourth inning but retired seven of the final eight batters he faced en route to his sixth straight quality start. During that stretch Rodon has pitched to a 2.43 ERA and 31:8 K:BB across 37 innings. With Thursday's outing, Rodon also eclipsed the 200-strikeout mark for the first time since 2022, his lone season in San Francisco. The 32-year-old finishes the regular season tied for second in MLB with 18 wins, solidifying a strong Year 3 in pinstripes.

  • Will Vest RP | DET

Tigers' Will Vest: Notches 22nd save

Vest earned the save in Thursday's win against Cleveland, striking out all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Vest entered with a two-run lead and delivered a dominant performance, striking out the side in order to bounce back after giving up five earned runs across his previous two outings. The 30-year-old has now converted 22 of his 29 save chances on the season while carrying a 3.06 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 74:22 K:BB through 67.2 innings.

  • Troy Melton RP | DET

Tigers' Troy Melton: No-decision in short outing

Melton didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Guardians, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out one over 3.2 innings.

Making his first start since Aug. 13, the right-hander needed 49 pitches to record 11 outs, with his lone blemish coming in the second inning on an RBI double from C.J. Kayfus. Melton worked a clean first frame and otherwise kept Cleveland in check, but Detroit most likely had no intention of him working deep into the contest. The 24-year-old now owns a 2.76 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 36:15 K:BB in 45.2 innings.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Homers in Thursday's loss

Schanuel went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 9-4 loss to the Royals.

Schanuel has gone 6-for-22 (.273) with two homers and four RBI over six games since he returned from a wrist injury. The first baseman is up to 12 homers through 131 games, one shy of his power output from 147 games in 2024. He's added a .267/.355/.393 slash line, 53 RBI, 64 runs scored and five stolen bases in 2025 as an everyday presence in the Angels' lineup when healthy.

  • Mike Trout DH | LAA

Angels' Mike Trout: Pops homer in loss

Trout went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 9-4 loss to the Royals.

Trout got the Angels within a run in the eighth inning with his homer, but the Royals responded with a four-run ninth. This was Trout's second long ball in his last four games. The outfielder has struggled a bit in September, even compared to the rest of the season, as he's hitting .211 (15-for-71) with 34 strikeouts over 21 games this month. On the year, he's batting .228 with a .772 OPS, 23 homers, 61 RBI, 69 runs scored and two stolen bases across 127 contests.

  • Jo Adell CF | LAA

Angels' Jo Adell: Smacks homer in loss

Adell went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 9-4 loss to the Royals.

Adell had been in a slump lately, going 4-for-33 with just one RBI and 10 strikeouts over his previous nine games. The outfielder broke out of the power drought with his solo shot in the second inning. He's up to 37 homers on the year while adding a .237/.296/.490 slash line, 97 RBI, 62 runs scored and five stolen bases over 149 contests.

  • Mitch Farris SP | LAA

Angels' Mitch Farris: Ends year with third straight loss

Farris (1-3) allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings to take the loss versus the Royals on Thursday.

Farris got off to a decent start in his big-league career with two strong outings, but he allowed 16 runs (15 earned) over his last three appearances of 2025. He finishes the campaign with a 6.66 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB over 24.1 innings across five starts in the majors. The southpaw figures to be in the competition for a rotation spot in 2026.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Reaches 100-RBI mark

Perez went 1-for-4 with a three-run double in Thursday's 9-4 win over the Angels.

Perez's bases-clearing double in the ninth inning gave the Royals some extra breathing room. The knock was enough to give him 100 RBI on the year, a mark he's reached in three of the last five seasons. The catcher has plated nearly one-fifth of his total over his last 11 games, supplying 19 RBI in that span. He's one of 14 players to reach 100 RBI this season through Thursday's action. Perez has added a .241/.286/.454 slash line, 30 home runs, 54 runs scored and 35 doubles across 152 contests.
