  • Tim Elko 1B | CHW

White Sox's Tim Elko: Out eight months after ACL surgery

Elko is expected to be sidelined for eight months following surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his right knee, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Elko was diagnosed with a right knee sprain July 11 and was sidelined for three-plus weeks. He did not miss any additional time after that during the 2025 season, but a recent medical exam evidently revealed the need for surgery. With Elko slated to be out until around midseason of next year, he'll likely open the campaign on the 60-day injured list.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Go-ahead homer in Game 4 win

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Dodgers in Game 4 of the World Series.

With the Blue Jays down 1-0 in the top of the third inning and Nathan Lukes standing on first, Guerrero hit a 395-foot shot off Shohei Ohtani to give Toronto a lead that it wouldn't relinquish for the rest of the game. The 26-year-old slugger has now belted seven home runs in the postseason and sports a monstrous 1.306 OPS through 74 plate appearances.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Shane Bieber: Takes win in Game 4

Bieber earned the win during Game 4 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Tuesday, allowing one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out three batters across 5.1 innings.

Bieber allowed the Dodgers to take a 1-0 lead in the second inning courtesy of a sacrifice fly from Enrique Hernandez, but the right-hander settled in nicely afterward, allowing just two of the next 12 batters he faced to reach base. He also did the Blue Jays' bullpen -- extremely fatigued from Monday's 18-inning marathon -- a solid by pitching into the sixth inning. Mason Fluharty returned the favor after Bieber's removal by stranding both of the inherited runners, keeping the latter in line for the win. Now carrying a 3.57 ERA through 17.2 innings in the postseason, the 30-year-old figures to have made his last start, though he could be available out of the bullpen going forward.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Absent from Game 4 lineup

Springer (side) isn't in the lineup for Game 4 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Springer was forced to leave Game 3 early after injuring his side on a swing in the seventh inning, and he'll officially remain on the bench for the beginning of Tuesday's contest. Bo Bichette will work as Toronto's designated hitter in Springer's stead, opening up second base for Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

  • Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Says he'll be ready for spring

Butler (knee) said Monday that he will be fully ready for the beginning of spring training, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Butler underwent surgery in early October to repair a tear in his right patellar tendon and also had a debridement of chronic scar tissue in the knee. Additionally, he was given a platelet-rich plasma injection to combat chronic tendinitis in his left patellar tendon. Butler played through knee problems for a portion of the 2025 campaign, which could have contributed to his disappointing .234/.306/.404 batting line. While Butler is optimistic his recovery will not impact his readiness for the start of camp, it would not be a surprise if the Athletics slow-played the outfielder early on in spring training.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Sent for MRI

Springer will undergo an MRI after departing Monday's Game 3 of the World Series due to right side discomfort, Jon Paul Hoornstra of Newsweek.com reports.

Springer exited Monday's matchup in the seventh inning after a swing left him in obvious discomfort. The club will presumably wait until reviewing his scans to determine his status for Tuesday's Game 4 and the remainder of the series. Ty France could draw the start in the DH slot if Springer is unable to go Tuesday.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Delivers clutch three-run blast

Kirk went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two walks Monday in a 6-5 loss to the Dodgers in Game 3 of the World Series.

Kirk came through in the top of the fourth inning by hammering a three-run home run off of Tyler Glasnow to put the Blue Jays up by a run. Kirk also delivered a perfect strike to mow down Shohei Ohtani in the bottom of the ninth inning on an attempt to steal second base, which would have moved the winning run into scoring position. Kirk is putting together a strong series thus far, now 5-for-10 with a pair of home runs, six RBI and four runs scored.

  • Max Scherzer SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Bitten by long ball

Scherzer allowed three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three across 4.1 innings during Monday's Game 3 of the World Series against the Dodgers. He didn't factor into the decision.

Scherzer was hurt by a pair of solo home runs, one by Teoscar Hernandez in the bottom of the second inning and another by Shohei Ohtani in the third. He was later pulled after Ohtani plated a run in the fifth on a one-out double. Even so, Scherzer actually departed the outing with a one-run lead, which didn't last after Mason Fluharty gave up the tying run later in the fifth inning. Scherzer has been serviceable for the Blue Jays in his two postseason starts, giving up five runs (three earned) and striking out eight in 10.0 innings of work. He could be in the running for a Game 7 start or an inning or two in relief depending on how the rest of the series plays out.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Exits Game 3 with injury

Springer was removed from Monday's Game 3 of the World Series against the Dodgers due to an apparent right side injury, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Springer led off the top of the seventh inning and appeared to take a normal cut at the first pitch, but he was spotted grabbing his side after the swing and was promptly lifted. He'll presumably be sent for further testing before the club comments on his availability for Game 4 and beyond. Ty France was called on to pinch hit in Springer's place.

  • White Sox's Braden Montgomery: Healthy again, playing in Arizona

Montgomery (foot) has gone 4-for-11 with one double, seven walks, three stolen bases, three runs and two RBI in four games since making his Arizona Cactus League debut last Tuesday.

After fracturing his right foot when he was hit by a pitch in a Sept. 6 game, Montgomery finished the season on Double-A Birmingham's 7-day injured list, but he made enough progress in his recovery over the final weeks of the campaign for the White Sox to feel comfortable making him part of their AFL contingent. He was held out for the first two weeks of AFL action while continuing his rehab program before getting the green light to play last week. He doubled in his first at-bat and has shown a keen eye at the plate thus far in Arizona, striking out just three times while drawing seven free passes. Though Montgomery is a long shot to win a spot on the White Sox's Opening Day roster, he'll likely get an invitation to big-league spring training and should have a chance to make his MLB debut at some point in 2026.
