  • Royals' Michael Wacha: Allows three homers

Wacha did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, allowing three hits on six hits and one walk over 4.2 innings while striking out one.

Wacha didn't have his best stuff Wednesday, surrendering a solo homer to Eugenio Suarez in the second inning and later giving up another two long balls, back-to-back, in the fourth to put Kansas City at a 3-1 deficit. The three home runs allowed marked a season high for the veteran right-hander, while the one strikeout was also his lowest total of the campaign. Wacha had gone at least five innings in 10 consecutive starts heading into Wednesday's matchup.

  • Orioles' Cedric Mullins: Takes seat Thursday

Mullins is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Miami.

Right-hander Roddery Munoz is on the hill for the Marlins, but the left-handed-hitting Mullins will nonetheless begin the contest on the bench. Colton Cowser will patrol center field for the Orioles and Austin Hays will occupy left.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Sitting out Thursday

Rutschman isn't in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Miami.

It's a rare day off for Rutschman, who had started in each of the previous 13 games. James McCann will handle catching duties in the Orioles' series finale in Miami.

  • Tyler Holton RP | DET

Tigers' Tyler Holton: Serving as opener Thursday

Holton will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher in Thursday's game in Cleveland, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Kenta Maeda is likely to follow Holton in bulk relief. Holton is serving as an opener for the third time this season after yielding one run over 3.1 innings in the first two appearances.

  • Bryan Baker RP | TB

    Orioles' Bryan Baker: Rejoins bullpen

The Orioles recalled Baker from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

He was just sent down Wednesday, but because he's replacing an injured player in Jorge Mateo (elbow), Baker is eligible to be recalled. The right-hander has posted a 4.32 ERA and 13:5 K:BB over 16.2 innings in 13 relief appearances this season for Baltimore.

  • Orioles' Chayce McDermott: Heads back to minors

The Orioles optioned McDermott to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

The transaction comes one day after McDermott allowed three runs over four innings in a no-decision against the Marlins in his major-league debut. Baltimore has a doubleheader versus the Blue Jays coming up Monday, so McDermott could be recalled that day to fill one of the openings in the rotation.

  • Connor Norby 2B | COL

Orioles' Connor Norby: Called up Thursday

The Orioles recalled Norby from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

The rookie had been on the taxi squad while the Orioles evaluated Jorge Mateo (elbow), and Norby is now on the active roster after Mateo was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. The 24-year-old Norby will see some reps at second base while Mateo is out, though the team will also use Jordan Westburg at the keystone on days Ramon Urias handles third base. Norby will start at second base and bat eighth in Thursday's series finale in Miami.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | TB

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Placed on IL with elbow injury

The Orioles placed Mateo on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left elbow subluxation.

Mateo suffered the partial dislocation of his elbow during Tuesday's game against the Marlins in a collision with teammate Gunnar Henderson. It's unclear how much time the infielder might miss, but an absence longer than the minimum 10 days is certainly possible. The Orioles recalled Connor Norby from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move to add depth in the infield.

  • Jair Camargo C | ATL

Twins' Jair Camargo: Sent down to minors

The Twins optioned Camargo to Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday.

Camargo's most recent stint with the Twins lasted two weeks, and he went hitless in just two plate appearances. The 25-year-old is still looking for his first base knock in the majors, having gone 0-for-6 in his limited opportunities.

  • Jarren Duran LF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Continues to mash

Duran went 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 20-7 loss to Colorado.

Duran belted his 13th home run and league-leading 12th triple, extending a hit streak to eight games. He's 17-for-35 with five doubles, two triples, three home runs, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored during the streak. Duran's appeared in all 101 games for Boston this season and is one game shy of the career-high mark he set last year.
