Povich (hip) is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Povich has been shelved since mid-June with left hip inflammation but has been cleared to pitch in a rehab game. If all goes well, the southpaw might require just the one rehab start before rejoining the Orioles' rotation next week against the Rangers.

The Angels optioned Paris to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Paris' latest stint with the Angels lasted just three days, with the 23-year-old making no appearances off the bench. He'll head back to Salt Lake in order to pick up steadier playing time.

Jones is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Blue Jays.

It's the first time since May 26 that Jones is out of the lineup against a right-hander. Lane Thomas is in right field and Angel Martinez is in center field for the Guardians in the series finale.

Bader is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Bader had started in left field in each of the Twins' last three games, but Minnesota was without super-utility man Willi Castro for two of those contests while he recovered from a sore wrist. Castro returned to the starting nine at third base in Wednesday's 2-0 win but will shift to left field for the series finale, leaving no room in the lineup for Bader. Though the right-handed-hitting Bader will likely continue to play regularly versus left-handed pitching, his opportunities against righties could become more sporadic while the Twins use Castro in the corner outfield in order to open up playing time at second base and third base for Kody Clemens and Brooks Lee, respectively.

Isbel is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Rays.

It's a routine day off for Isbel, who started each of the previous three tilts. Drew Waters is covering center field and batting ninth for the Royals on Thursday.

Perez is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays.

It's the first day off in more than a month for Perez, who has gone 1-for-8 at the plate in the first two games of the series. Freddy Fermin is catching and batting eighth for the Royals in Thursday's series finale.

Lange (lat) tossed a perfect inning of relief with two strikeouts to begin the next phase of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Lange was shut down for the season last June after undergoing surgery on his right lat, and he's been on the 60-day injured list since the offseason, so the Tigers will likely proceed cautiously with his rehab program. He started his assignment by making two appearances for High-A West Michigan earlier this month and will now spend some time with the Mud Hens ramping up. The righty could eventually give Detroit another arm for its bullpen, though his struggles with control persisted in 2024, walking 17 batters in 18.2 major-league innings before eventually getting demoted to Triple-A and then getting injured. He's walked at least four batters per nine innings in each of his four MLB seasons and will need to improve in that area to stick with the Tigers.

Schuemann will start in left field and bat eighth in Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Schuemann will enter the starting nine for the first time since the Athletics' 11-4 loss to the Astros on June 18, when he stepped in for a resting Tyler Soderstrom while Houston sent lefty Framber Valdez to the hill. Though the Athletics haven't been treating the left-handed-hitting Soderstrom as a strict platoon player, he'll sit again Thursday versus Tigers southpaw Dietrich Enns to create room in the lineup for Schuemann, who is slashing .225/.351/.325 with one home run and three steals over 97 plate appearances this season.

Soderstrom is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Though he had been included in the lineup Tuesday against southpaw Tarik Skubal, the left-handed-hitting Soderstrom will retreat to the bench for the series finale in Detroit while the Tigers send another lefty (Dietrich Enns) to the bump. Max Schuemann will take Soderstrom's spot in left field and will bat eighth.

Kirk is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Cleveland.

Kirk started at catcher in each of the previous four games, so he's earned a day off for Thursday's matinee. Tyler Heineman will be behind the dish and bat eighth for the Blue Jays.
