  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Returns to lineup for Game 3

Santander (back) will start in right field and bat cleanup in Wednesday's Game 3 of the ALCS versus the Mariners.

Santander had to be scratched from the Game 2 lineup due to lower-back tightness, but he's feeling well enough to return to action Wednesday as the series moves to Seattle. The 30-year-old is 3-for-13 with two RBI and a 0:4 BB:K in four games this postseason. Santander hadn't previously hit higher than seventh in those four contests, but the Blue Jays are changing up their batting order a bit as they look to jumpstart the offense.

  • Ryan Kreidler CF | PIT

Twins' Ryan Kreidler: Scooped up by Twins on waivers

The Twins claimed Kreidler off waivers from the Pirates on Wednesday.

Kreidler had been booted off the Pirates' 40-man roster earlier this week and has now found a new home. The 27-year-old has slashed just .138/.208/.176 over parts of four major-league seasons and is only a career .236/.342/.401 hitter in the minors. Kreidler does offer positional versatility and will likely compete for a reserve role with the Twins next season.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Undergoes shoulder labrum surgery

Volpe underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Volpe initially injured the shoulder on a diving attempt in early May and aggravated it on multiple occasions during the season. He never went on the injured list but did miss some time late in the regular season after being given a cortisone shot. The expectation is that Volpe will be recovered in time for Opening Day next season, though it will depend on how his rehab goes. Volpe slashed a disappointing .212/.272/.391 with 19 home runs and 18 stolen bases over 153 regular-season contest in 2025.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | BOS

Red Sox's Alex Bregman: Plans to opt out of deal

Bregman is expected to opt out of his contract with the Red Sox in the offseason, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Bregman signed a one-year $40 million contract with Boston last winter that included $40 million player options for the 2026 and '27 campaigns. The 31-year-old will now forgo his two option years and pursue a multi-year contract in free agency. After slashing .273/.360/.462 with 18 homers, 62 RBI and 64 runs scored over 114 regular-season games during his first season in Boston, he will likely have plenty of suitors vying for his services.

  • Guardians' Austin Hedges: Re-signs with Guardians

Hedges signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Guardians on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Hedges slashed just .161/.250/.277 with 10 RBI and 13 runs scored across 180 plate appearances in the regular season. However, the 33-year-old is great defensively behind the plate, so Cleveland will keep him around for another year to serve as a backup behind Bo Naylor.

  • Rangers' Sebastian Walcott: Shut down from AFL action

Walcott was shut down in the Arizona Fall League on Tuesday due to arm fatigue, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Walcott slashed .255/.355/.386 across 552 plate appearances at Double-A Frisco during the regular season, and the Rangers were hoping to get their top prospect a few extra reps this fall. The 19-year-old's AFL experience will instead be cut short after one game, during which he went 2-for-4 with a double. He will now have an entire offseason to rest and recover before spring training begins in February.

  • Brett Harris 3B | ATH

Athletics' Brett Harris: Undergoes thumb surgery

Harris underwent left thumb surgery Tuesday, Jason Burke of SI.com reports.

It's not clear exactly when Harris hurt his thumb, nor is it known the specific type of procedure he had. Harris is expected to be ready to go for the beginning of spring training, and assuming that happens he'll enter camp with a chance to win a starting job in the Athletics' infield. The 27-year-old slashed .274/.349/.342 with zero home runs over 84 plate appearances during his time with the big club in 2025.

  • Shane Bieber SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Shane Bieber: Drawing start for Game 3

Bieber will start Wednesday's Game 3 of the American League Championship Series against the Mariners, Nick Camino of WKYC Channel 3 Cleveland reports.

Bieber was unable to provide the Blue Jays with much stability during his last outing in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Yankees, surrendering three runs (two earned) over 2.2 innings of work. Toronto desperately needs Bieber to come through with a quality appearance in Seattle after dropping the first two games of the ALCS at home, though he'll likely be on a short leash considering the club can't afford to go down 3-0 in the series.

  • Trey Yesavage SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Trey Yesavage: Hit with loss in ALCS Game 2

Yesavage took the loss after allowing five runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four over four innings during Monday night's Game 2 of the American League Championship Series against the Mariners.

It's worth noting that two of the runs Yesavage was charged with came around to score after he'd been pulled from the matchup, but even with that in mind, he didn't have a sharp night on the bump. The rookie right-hander surrendered a three-run shot to Julio Rodriguez in the top of the first inning to immediately spot the opposition a three-run lead. Yesavage was removed in the top of the fifth after giving up an infield single and issuing an intentional walk, which was followed by a three-run home run by Jorge Polanco. Monday's showing certainly wasn't on the same level as Yesavage's dominant 11-strikeout showing during Game 2 of the ALDS, but he could get an opportunity to redeem himself later in the series if Toronto is able to steal a game or two in Seattle.

  • Logan Gilbert SP | SEA

Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Gives up three in brief ALCS start

Gilbert didn't factor into the decision during Monday's 10-3 win in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series against the Blue Jays. He allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out two across three innings.

Gilbert dealt with plenty of traffic on the bases in the bottom of the first inning, giving two runs back after his offense spotted him a three-run lead in the top half of the frame. The right-hander would surrender another run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Nathan Lukes. Gilbert hurled 58 pitches before his removal, likely indicating that he'll be available either out of the bullpen or for another start later in the series if needed.
