  • Jackson Kowar RP | BAL

Mariners' Jackson Kowar: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Mariners optioned Kowar to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Kowar had allowed four runs over 2.1 innings covering his last three relief appearances. He'll head to Tacoma for now but could get another opportunity in the Seattle bullpen later on this season.

  • Sauryn Lao SP | WAS

    Mariners' Sauryn Lao: Contract selected

The Mariners selected Lao's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Lao was removed from the 40-man roster earlier this season after making one relief appearance, but he's earned his way back on with a 1.37 ERA over his last five outings at Tacoma. The 26-year-old will likely be used in low-leverage spots.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Guerrero (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

The first baseman was headed for an MRI after exiting Monday's game due to left hamstring tightness, and he'll be held out of the starting nine for at least one contest. Guerrero should continue to be considered day-to-day until the MRI results are announced.

  • Bryce Miller SP | SEA

Mariners' Bryce Miller: Activated ahead of Tuesday's start

The Mariners activated Miller (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Miller is set to make his return to the Mariners' rotation Tuesday with a start on the road in Philadelphia. The right-hander has been sidelined for more than two months with inflammation in his pitching elbow. Miller threw 76 pitches in his final rehab start, so he will likely be slightly limited from a workload perspective versus the Phillies.

  • Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Exiting starting nine

Basallo is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Red Sox.

Basallo is 3-for-9 with a double and four RBI in his first two major-league games, but he will begin Tuesday's contest on the bench. Adley Rutschman is catching, and Ryan Mountcastle is at designated hitter for the Orioles.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Sitting out with sore ankle

Westburg (ankle) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Westburg exited Monday's contest with right ankle discomfort, so it's not a surprise he's sitting out Tuesday, especially with the Orioles having an off day Wednesday. He's considered day-to-day. Luis Vazquez is starting at third base and batting eighth Tuesday.

  • Logan VanWey RP | HOU

Astros' Logan VanWey: Recalled from Triple-A

The Astros recalled VanWey from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

VanWey has a 6.23 ERA and 5:3 K:BB over 8.2 frames during his time with the big club this season. He's absorbing the 26-man active roster spot vacated by Tayler Scott, who was designated for assignment.

  • Tayler Scott RP | ATL

Astros' Tayler Scott: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

The Astros designated Scott for assignment Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Scott was bludgeoned for five runs over 1.2 innings in his lone appearance after the Tigers called him up Monday. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Logan VanWey.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Taking seat Tuesday

Baez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros.

Baez has a .557 OPS and 0:33 BB:K since the beginning of July and has been seeing more days on the bench since then. The Tigers will deploy Wenceel Perez in center field and Trey Sweeney at shortstop Tuesday.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Sitting out with side issue

Montgomery (side) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Atlanta.

Montgomery had to be pulled from Monday's contest with soreness in his left side. The White Sox are referring to him as day-to-day for the time being, but it's the type of injury that could wind up requiring a stint on the injured list. Chase Meidroth will play shortstop and bat ninth Tuesday.
