Michael Lorenzen SP | COL
Royals' Michael Lorenzen: Can't make it through five
Lorenzen didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Rangers, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and a walk across 4.1 innings. He struck out six.
While Lorenzen's final line could've looked much worse, the right-hander still failed to make it through the fifth inning after throwing 89 pitches. Overall, it was a step backwards for Lorenzen after he held the White Sox scoreless across four innings in his previous outing, which was his first following a month-long stint on the IL. Lorenzen sports a 4.50 ERA through 20 starts (108 innings) this season with a 1.34 WHIP and 94:32 K:BB.

Corbin's struggles continued Thursday -- the left-hander has failed to make it through five innings in any of his last four starts, posting an 11.48 ERA in that span (13.1 innings). Overall, the 36-year-old Corbin sports a 4.61 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP and 101:42 K:BB across 24 starts (123 innings) this season. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, currently slated for next week at home against the Angels.

Taylor Trammell CF | HOU
Astros' Taylor Trammell: Still in concussion protocol
Manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Trammell (neck) remains in the concussion protocol, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Trammell was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a cervical muscle strain that he suffered Wednesday, but he also suffered a concussion. The 27-year-old will be eligible to be reinstated Aug. 31, but a longer absence wouldn't be surprising given the nature of his injuries.

Evan Carter CF | TEX
Rangers' Evan Carter: Exits game following hit-by-pitch
Carter was removed from Thursday's game versus the Royals in the eighth inning after being hit in the right wrist by a pitch, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
He was struck by a Daniel Lynch offering in the seventh inning. Carter remained in the game initially before eventually being lifted an inning later. The 22-year-old is likely to undergo X-rays, and an update on his condition should be forthcoming. He went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base before exiting.

Jordan Westburg 2B | BAL
Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Out again but hopes to avoid IL
Westburg (ankle) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
He hasn't played since departing Monday's contest versus the Red Sox with right ankle discomfort. Westburg is considered day-to-day, and Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino expressed optimism Thursday that the third baseman can avoid the 10-day injured list. Jeremiah Jackson is occupying the hot corner and batting second in the series opener Thursday.

Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH
Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Homers to extend streak
Kurtz went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and an additional run scored in Thursday's 8-3 win over the Twins.
Kurtz extended the A's lead to 7-2 in the sixth inning with a 425-foot blast off Michael Tonkin, his 26th this season. With his two knocks Thursday, the rookie first baseman extended his hitting streak to six games -- he's gone 11-for-21 (.524) with three homers in that span. Kurtz has positioned himself as the favorite for AL Rookie of the Year by slashing .315/.404/.650 with 68 RBI and 65 runs scored across 367 plate appearances.

Adley Rutschman C | BAL
Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Lands on IL with strained oblique
The Orioles placed Rutschman on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a mild right oblique strain, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Rutschman missed time earlier this season with a left oblique strain, and now he'll be down at least until late August after tweaking his other oblique. Samuel Basallo is doing the catching for the Orioles on Thursday and will be the everyday guy behind the dish while Rutschman is out.

Ryan Yarbrough RP | NYY
Yankees' Ryan Yarbrough: Staying on rehab assignment
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Yarbrough (oblique) will make at least one more rehab start, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.
He's made two rehab starts thus far, with the last one coming with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, when he allowed two runs while striking out three over 3.1 innings. Yarbrough got his pitch count up to 50 in that outing and will continue to build up his stamina in case he's needed in the Yankees' rotation. As things stand right now, however, he might be destined for long relief once he rejoins the big club.
