The Royals are expected to reinstate Caglianone (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's series opener versus the Angels.

Caglianone landed on the injured list July 26 due to the strained left hamstring, but he began a minor-league rehab assignment Aug. 12 and has thrived during his time at Triple-A Omaha. Through 16 rehab appearances with the affiliate, he's posted a .385/.467/.692 slash line with five home runs, 16 RBI, 17 runs and one stolen base. Caglianone will likely play on an everyday basis at designated hitter or in the corner outfield upon rejoining the Royals, which could put the likes of Jonathan India, Michael Massey and Adam Frazier at risk of losing out on some starts.

Single-A Delmarva placed Bodine on the 7-day injured list Saturday due to a bruised left hand, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

While Bodine's injury isn't significant, it will spell an end to his first professional season. The No. 30 overall selection in June's First-Year Player Draft, Bodine slashed .326/.408/.349 over 49 plate appearances for Delmarva.

Orioles manager Tony Mansolino said that Mateo (hamstring) won't be reinstated from the 60-day injured list Monday, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Mansolino noted that Mateo hasn't suffered a setback since beginning his rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk on Aug. 20, but the utility player looks like he'll need at least a couple more games in the minors to pick up at-bats before the Orioles are comfortable adding him back to the roster. Mateo has been on the shelf since June 10, initially because of an inflamed left elbow before he strained his left hamstring later that month during a rehab assignment.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Burger (wrist) could be activated from the 10-day injured list as soon as Monday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Burger wasn't sent out on a minor-league rehab assignment since landing on the injured list Aug. 18 due to a left wrist sprain, but he's been able to face live pitching at the Rangers' facility in Arizona and appears to be ready for game action. Whenever he's activated, Burger is likely to step back into the short side of a platoon at first base with the left-handed-hitting Rowdy Tellez.

The Twins optioned Abel to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

Minnesota didn't immediately replace Abel on the roster ahead of Sunday's 7-2 win over the Padres, so the Twins will have three spots to fill when the active roster expands from 26 to 28 men Monday. Abel's demotion comes after he was moved to the bullpen for this weekend's series against the Padres following a rough start against the White Sox on Aug. 23, when he served up six earned runs across three innings. The right-hander didn't fare any better in his lone relief appearance, as he gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk over one inning in Saturday's 12-3 loss.

The Guardians are expected to call up Valera from Triple-A Columbus prior to Monday's game against the Red Sox, SI.com reports.

An international signee for the Guardians in 2017, Valera will finally reach the big leagues after eight-plus seasons in the organization. The 24-year-old had been regarded as one of the Guardians' top position prospects at various points during his time in the organization, but his star had dimmed after injuries had slowed his ascent through the farm system. Valera has had two separate stints on Columbus' injured list this season, but the outfielder has been productive when available, slashing .255/.346/.457 with three home runs over 107 plate appearances. Valera will bolster the Guardians' depth in the outfield, but he's unlikely to find his way to regular playing time while he's up with the big club.

MLB and the MLBPA announced Sunday that Ortiz will remain on non-disciplinary paid leave until further notice while MLB continues its sports-betting investigation.

The Guardians aren't planning on commenting further on Ortiz's status until the investigation concludes, but the right-hander's locker at Progressive Field was cleared out nearly a month ago, which implies that he isn't expected to pitch again this season. Ortiz remains under club control heading into 2026, but whether he returns to the mound with the Guardians or another team down the road won't become clear until MLB releases the findings of its investigation.

Crawford went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Sunday's 4-2 win over Cleveland.

It was the sixth multi-hit game of the month for Crawford, who also scored multiple runs for the second time in August. The 30-year-old shortstop had worked as Seattle's primary leadoff man from May through July, but he's since tumbled down the batting order and hit seventh or lower in 28 consecutive outings. Crawford is slashing an uninspiring .240/.305/.344 with two home runs, four doubles, seven RBI and two stolen bases over his last 106 plate appearances.

He's continuing to steadily incorporate more activity into his workouts, but the Angels haven't yet revealed when he'll be ready for a rehab assignment. Once he's activated from the IL, Soler should settle back in as the Angels' primary option in right field, which will result in Jo Adell shifting back to center field on a more regular basis.
