    Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Picks up seventh steal

    Cruz went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a strikeouts in a 3-2 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday.

    Cruz reached base on a single in the first and proceeded to steal second but failed to score. Cruz doesn't run often, but he's successful when he does, as he's only been caught stealing once in 12 attempts since the beginning of 2023. The 25-year-old is slashing .240/.294/.425 with 12 homers, 37 RBI, and seven steals this season.

    Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Three-hit effort in loss

    Winn went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

    Winn has gone 7-for-14 over his last three games. The shortstop cooled off a bit in June, hitting .255 with a .669 OPS over 26 games, though he remains the near-everyday leadoff hitter. For the season, Winn has an excellent .293/.337/.420 slash line with four home runs, eight stolen bases, 29 RBI, 33 runs scored, 17 doubles and three triples across 77 contests.

    Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Homers in Wednesday's loss

    Rocchio went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-2 loss to the White Sox.

    Rocchio has been decent lately, batting .267 with a pair of extra-base hits over his last 11 games. The shortstop is up to three homers this season, all of which have been in his last 21 contests. He still has a lackluster .218/.313/.315 slash line overall, but he's been trending in the right direction as gets more major-league experience. Rocchio has added 16 RBI, 34 runs scored and seven stolen bases through 73 games.

    Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Scratched from lineup

    Bichette was scratched from the Blue Jays' lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros due to a right forearm contusion, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

    Bichette was hit by a pitch in the area during Wednesday's contest and felt some residual soreness while working out pregame Thursday. Consider him day-to-day. Leo Jimenez will slide over to shortstop and Spencer Horwitz will enter the lineup at second base.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Swipes first bag in win

    Perdomo went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.

    Perdomo singled in each of his first two trips to the plate and swiped second following the latter, giving him his first stolen base of the campaign. It marked the shortstop's sixth multi-hit effort of the season, and he's now hit safely in three straight games, raising his average to .275 in the process.

    Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Demoted to sixth in batting order

    Volpe will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Thursday's game against the Reds.

    It's the first time since April 9 that Volpe has hit anywhere other than leadoff. After a productive first two months of the season, Volpe has slashed just .211/.228/.301 with a 33:3 K:BB over 136 plate appearances since June 1. Ben Rice will get a shot in the leadoff spot Thursday.

    Athletics' Max Schuemann: Smacks solo homer

    Schuemann went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's win over the Angels.

    Schuemann jumped on a hanging slider from Davis Daniel in the bottom of the fifth and sent it into the stands in left field for his fourth home run of the campaign. The shortstop has now hit safely in four of his last five games while also driving in at least one run in three of those outings. On the downside, Schuemann has also struck out twice in five of his last eight contests.

    Rangers' Corey Seager: Logs hit in return

    Seager went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Padres.

    Seager, who had been dealing with a wrist injury, was a late addition to the starting lineup and was back at his normal shortstop position, batting second. He had missed the previous two games after getting hit by a pitch on the left wrist last Saturday.
