Giants manager Bruce Bochy told reporters shortstop Brandon Crawford will be available off the bench despite dealing with sprained index and middle fingers on his right hand.

Crawford was able to grip a baseball and throw from 120 feet prior to Friday's game, according to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. He could return as soon as Saturday. He is hitting .288/.351/.424 with five home runs and 28 RBI in 70 games played.

Padres shortstop Pedro Ciriaco tripled and hit his second homer in a 6-3 win over the Dodgers Thursday night. He entered Thursday 5 for 13 with no extra-base hits, runs or RBI with the Padres, but went 2 for 4 with two runs and three RBI.

Ciriaco is 7 for 17 as a Padre and will continue to play shortstop while Everth Cabrera is sidelined by injury.

Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada is not progressing as the team hoped from his right quadriceps strain, according to ESPN.com Wednesday.

Tejada has been unable to move laterally in the field while working out at the team's spring training complex, and has been unable to progress beyond hitting off a tee so far.

There is still no concrete timetable for his return to the field. Tejada has been out since May 30 due to this injury.

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford was forced to leave Tuesday's game against the Padres in the fourth inning, after suffering two sprained fingers on his right hand. Crawford suffered the injuries while sliding into second base in the second inning.

Crawford is currently being considered day to day, and the extent of the injury is not yet known. 

Padres infielder Pedro Ciriaco tied a season-high with three hits Monday against the Giants. Ciriaco is batting .333 (3 for 9) in three games since joining the Padres.

Ciriaco also had three hits May 25 against the Indians when he was on the Red Sox roster.

Manager Bruce Bochy was asked before the game why he used Crawford there.

"Crawford asked me the same thing," Bochy said. "I just said, 'Maybe I got into the wine too much last night.'"

Crawford is batting .314 (11 for 35) with two doubles, three RBI, three walks and five runs in his last nine games. He's batting .285 and slugging .421 through 68 games.
