  • Slade Cecconi SP | CLE

Guardians' Slade Cecconi: Concedes two runs in no-decision

Cecconi allowed two runs on three hits and one walk over 5.2 innings while not factoring into the decision Sunday against the White Sox. He struck out four.

The 26-year-old gave up just two extra-base knocks in this 93-pitch appearance, and both scored the pair of runs he yielded. Miguel Vargas plated the first Chicago run with a double in the fourth before Chase Meidroth added a solo homer in the fifth. Cecconi has now pitched to a 4.39 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 98:30 K:BB across 121 total frames. The Cleveland right-hander projects to face off with divisional foes Minnesota for the first time in his career next weekend on the road.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Fans four in no-decision

Gomez didn't factor into the decision Sunday at Cleveland, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk over five innings with four strikeouts.

The 25-year-old fared much better in this 77-pitch outing after coughing up four runs across five frames in his last appearance. Gomez conceded both runs on a fourth inning double by Bo Naylor -- the only extra-base hit he allowed. Since entering the White Sox rotation Aug. 12, Gomez has been a solid pitching option, producing a 4.01 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB over 33.2 innings. The Chicago right-hander currently lines up to make his next start at home against the Padres next weekend.

  • Mike Soroka RP | CHC

Cubs' Michael Soroka: Expected to return during road trip

Soroka (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list at some point during the Cubs' upcoming seven-game road trip that begins Monday, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Soroka has been on the shelf since early August after straining his right shoulder in his Cubs debut Aug. 4. The right-hander was cleared to rejoin the big club afte he made a lone rehab appearance with Triple-A Iowa on Thursday, giving up one run on a solo homer while striking out three batters over 2.1 innings. The right-hander reached only 38 total pitches in that outing, so the Cubs are presumably preparing him to serve as a multi-inning reliever rather than as a starter.

  • Ryan Pepiot RP | TB

Rays' Ryan Pepiot: Cleared to start Tuesday

Pepiot (general fatigue) will return to the Tampa Bay rotation to start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays at Steinbrenner Field, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Rays opted to scratch Pepiot ahead of his previous turn through the rotation this past Wednesday while he dealt with general body fatigue, a likely byproduct of him having already covered a career-high 163 innings on the season. The extra time off seemingly provided a necessary reset for Pepiot, who will re-enter the rotation this week after he said he felt "back to normal" following a bullpen session Saturday of about 10-to-15 pitches, per MLB.com. Though Pepiot shouldn't face any major workload restrictions Tuesday, the Rays aren't likely to let him push past the 100-pitch mark, which he's cleared just three times through his first 29 starts.

  • Sean Manaea RP | NYM

Mets' Sean Manaea: Stepping out of rotation

Manaea is expected to work out of the bullpen behind starter Clay Holmes in Tuesday's game against the Padres, Will Sammon and Tim Britton of The Athletic report.

The veteran left-hander said he was available in relief for Sunday's win over the Rangers, but he didn't make an appearance and is now poised to piggyback Holmes on Tuesday. Manaea gave up exactly one run in each of his first four outings after missing the first half of the season due to elbow and oblique injuries, but he's struggled to a 7.71 ERA despite a 42:6 K:BB in his past seven starts. Depending on how Tuesday's game unfolds, Manaea could end up piggybacking Holmes again in next Sunday's contest versus the Nationals.

  • Jose Quintana SP | MIL

Brewers' Jose Quintana: Dealing with calf issue

Quintana suffered a calf injury in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Cardinals, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Quintana pitched four innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two batters against St. Louis. He exited the game after throwing just 67 pitches, and his early departure is now understood to be the result of a calf injury that he suffered while covering first base, according to manager Pat Murphy. The left-hander is set to undergo an MRI, and more information on Quintana's status will likely come in the near future.

  • Framber Valdez SP | HOU

Astros' Framber Valdez: Falls to Atlanta

Valdez (12-10) took the loss Sunday against Atlanta, allowing five runs on six hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out two.

Valdez's rough stretch continued Sunday -- the southpaw is now 1-6 with a 6.41 ERA in his last eight outings. Overall, Valdez's ERA sits at 3.59 through 29 starts (180.1 innings) this season with a 1.22 WHIP and 173:62 K:BB. Valdez will look to right the ship his next time out, currently scheduled for next week at home against Seattle.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Falls to Kansas City

Nola (4-9) took the loss Sunday against the Royals, allowing six runs on six hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out five.

Nola was cruising early, as he held the Royals scoreless until Jac Caglianone's two-run homer in the fifth inning. Things unraveled further in the sixth, however, when Nola gave up four runs on four straight hits, capped by a Salvador Perez three-run blast. In six starts since returning from the IL, Nola has given up six runs in three separate outings. His ERA sits at 6.44 with a 1.43 WHIP and 84:26 K:BB across 15 starts (81 innings) this season. Nola will look to get back on track his next time out, tentatively scheduled to come next week at home against the Diamondbacks.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Sharp in eighth win

Cameron (8-7) earned the win Sunday over the Phillies, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out seven.

Cameron looked like he was headed for an early exit after giving up home runs to Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto in the first inning. However, the left-hander rebounded and held the Phillies scoreless over his final six frames, allowing just two more hits in an eventual 10-3 Kansas City victory. Cameron has gone seven innings in back-to-back starts, allowing just four runs while striking out 15 in that span. He's lowered his ERA to 2.98 with a 1.09 WHIP and 103:37 K:BB through 22 starts (127 innings) this year. Cameron is tentatively lined up to face the Blue Jays at home in his next outing.

  • Pirates' Mike Burrows: Goes 4.1 innings Sunday

Burrows did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Nationals, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk over 4.1 innings. He struck out six.

Burrows has made back-to-back starts for the Pirates, allowing four runs across 8.1 innings while striking out 12 in that span. Overall, the 25-year-old right-hander sports a 4.10 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP and 94:31 K:BB across 90 innings this season. Should he remain in the rotation, Burrows would tentatively line up to face the A's at home his next time out.
