Alexander (4-2) allowed seven runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out one over 1.1 innings to take the loss versus the Mariners on Sunday.

The Astros needed a good start, and Alexander was unable to deliver. Most of the damage came on a grand slam by J.P. Crawford and a two-run home run by Cal Raleigh. This was Alexander's worst performance as an Astro and just the second time he's allowed five or more runs since he was plucked off waivers from the Athletics. Overall, Alexander has a 4.83 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 61:25 K:BB through 72.2 innings across 17 appearances (12 starts) this season. The right-hander is tentatively projected for a road start versus the Angels in his last outing of the regular season.

The Tigers released Morton on Sunday.

Before he was removed from Detroit's 40-man roster earlier Sunday, Morton went 2-3 with a 7.09 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 47:23 K:BB across 39.1 innings in nine outings since the Tigers acquired him from the Orioles ahead of the trade deadline. The Tigers lack an obvious replacement in the rotation for Morton heading into the final week of the regular season, so the team may opt for a bullpen game when the right-hander's next turn comes up. Morton is set to turn 42 in November, and given his rough finish to the 2025 campaign, his time in the big leagues could be over.

Gilbert (6-6) allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out four over six innings to earn the win Sunday over the Astros.

Gilbert has allowed three runs or fewer in six straight starts, earning four quality starts and three wins in that span. The right-hander limited the damage to a Zach Cole solo home run in the third inning in this contest. For the season, Gilbert has a 3.43 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 168:30 K:BB through 126 innings over 24 starts. He is projected to make his final regular-season appearance at home versus the Dodgers.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Sunday that Woodruff was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a moderate right lat strain, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Woodruff suffered the injury on the 13th pitch of his bullpen session Saturday. After meeting with doctors in St. Louis on Sunday, Woodruff is scheduled to receive a second evaluation from Dr. Keith Meister, who performed surgery on the right-hander's shoulder in October 2023. The Brewers will await feedback from Dr. Meister before providing a timeline for Woodruff's return, though Murphy acknowledged that he's uncertain whether the 32-year-old will be ready to pitch in the NLDS, when he would first be eligible to return from the IL. However, given the initial diagnosis of a moderate lat strain rather than a mild one, Woodruff would appear to be a long shot to be available for the start of the Brewers' playoff run.

Gasser (0-1) allowed two runs on one hit and two walks over three innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against St. Louis.

Gasser threw a pair of scoreless frames before serving up a two-run shot to Ivan Herrera in the third inning. It was Gasser's first MLB appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2024. He posted an impressive 2.57 ERA over 28 MLB innings last season before the injury. This year, he produced a 2.37 ERA through 38 innings while rehabbing across multiple minor-league levels. It's unclear how the Brewers plan to use Gasser down the stretch or in the postseason.

Liberatore (8-12) allowed a run on five hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the Brewers.

Liberatore worked through four scoreless frames before the Brewers scratched a run across in the fifth inning. He's 2-1 over his last four outings after going 0-5 with a 5.77 ERA over his previous nine starts. Liberatore forced nine whiffs on 85 total pitches Sunday; he has not generated double-digit swinging strikes in any outing since June 23. The 25-year-old southpaw owns a 4.21 ERA with a 122:40 K:BB through 151.2 innings. Liberatore's final start of 2025 is projected to be a road matchup with the Cubs next weekend.

Burke (4-11) yielded three runs (two earned) on six hits over four innings Sunday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Padres.

Burke coughed up a pair of runs in the second inning before serving up a solo homer to Fernando Tatis in the third. It was Burke's fifth straight outing of fewer than five innings pitched. On the bright side, he did not walk a batter Sunday after issuing 12 free passes over 15.1 frames in his previous four starts. He now owns a 4.29 ERA with a 123:62 K:BB through 130 innings this season. Burke's final start of 2025 is projected to be in Washington next weekend.

King (5-3) allowed four hits and four walks over five-plus scoreless innings Sunday, striking out four and earning a win over the White Sox.

King worked out of multiple jams through five frames to keep the White Sox off the board. He loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth but was not charged with any runs after Adrian Morejon came in to clean up the mess. King still doesn't look like his usual self, but it was a much better performance than his last outing when he was tagged with eight runs against the Mets. The 30-year-old righty is now sporting a 3.57 ERA with a 73:24 K:BB through 70.2 innings this season. King's final regular-season start is projected to be at home next weekend against the Diamondbacks.

Abbott did not factor into the decision in Sunday's game against the Cubs, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out two across 4.2 innings.

Abbott and the Reds' bullpen kept the Cubs off the board in Sunday's series finale, and the 26-year-old southpaw would have been in line for the win had he recorded one more out in the fifth inning. Abbott has failed to complete five innings in four of his last six starts, and over that span he has posted a 4.94 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 33:8 K:BB across 31 innings. He's slated to make his final start of the regular season next weekend on the road against the Brewers.

Wacha (9-13) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four across five innings.

It was another tough outing for Wacha, who gave up three runs in both the second and fifth frames and generated just seven whiffs on 89 pitches (58 strikes). The veteran right-hander had a 3.45 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 159 innings prior to landing on the 7-day injured list due to a concussion. In his two starts since being reinstated from the IL, Wacha has allowed 13 runs on 17 hits over 7.2 innings. He's slated to make his last start of the regular season next weekend on the road against the Athletics.
