Shane McClanahan SP | TB
Rays' Shane McClanahan: Fans nine BoSox in win
McClanahan (3-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 7-2 victory over Boston, allowing one run on two hits and four walks over five-plus innings. He struck out nine.
The southpaw blanked the BoSox for five innings, but after McClanahan led off the sixth with a walk to Rafael Devers and a single by Justin Turner, he got the hook and eventually had to watch Devers come around to score. McClanahan generated a massive 23 swinging strikes on 95 pitches in another dominant performance, and he'll take a 1.59 ERA and 21:9 K:BB through 17 innings into his next outing, likely to come in Toronto this weekend.

Garrett Whitlock RP | BOS
Red Sox's Garrett Whitlock: Rough debut against Rays
Whitlock (0-1) took the loss Tuesday as Boston was steamrolled 7-2 by Tampa Bay, coughing up five runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- over five innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.
Making his season debut after completing his recovery from hip surgery last September, Whitlock ran into the buzzsaw known as the undefeated Rays. The 26-year-old righty tossed 62 of 85 pitches for strikes and showed good control, but his command may not be quite there yet as Isaac Paredes, Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe all took him deep. Whitlock will look to rebound in his next outing, likely to come this weekend at home against the Angels.

Cole Ragans RP | KC
Rangers' Cole Ragans: Picks up win
Ragans (2-0) retired both of the batters faced in the top of the 10th inning to earn the win over Kansas City on Tuesday.
Ragans entered with one out and two on in the top of the 10th inning and gave up a flyball that plated a run charged to Jose Leclerc before getting the final out. When the Rangers scored four in the bottom half, it made Ragans a winner for the second time in 2023. The young left-hander has not allowed a run in five relief outings.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Stuck with second loss
Nola (0-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings as the Phillies fell 8-4 to the Marlins. He struck out six without walking a batter.
It was an ominous sign for Nola when light-hitting Jon Berti took him deep for a solo shot in the third inning, but the right-hander didn't allow another run until the wheels came off in the sixth. He exited after 100 pitches (70 strikes), and while Nola's 7.04 ERA through his first three starts looks rough, it comes with a 15:3 K:BB through 15.1 innings that should reassure GMs that have him rostered. The 29-year-old will look for a better result in his next outing, likely to come this weekend in Cincinnati.

Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI
Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: Tosses quality start Tuesday
Luzardo (2-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 8-4 victory over the Phillies, giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out five.
The southpaw blanked Philly for five frames before stumbling in the sixth. Luzardo generated 16 swinging strikes among his 98 pitches as he continues an impressive start to the season that's seen him post a 1.93 ERA and 20:6 K:BB through his first three starts and 18.2 innings. The 25-year-old will look to keep rolling next week at home against the Giants.

Josiah Gray RP | WAS
Nationals' Josiah Gray: Dealt another loss
Gray (0-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Angels after he gave up two runs on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out three.
The 25-year-old threw 55 of 103 pitches for strikes and generated just eight whiffs, but he was mostly able to keep the Halos in check. The Nationals mustered one hit Tuesday and have scored only a single run across Gray's three starts this season, leading to three straight losses despite a solid 4.32 ERA.

Miles Mikolas RP | WAS
Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Another rough performance
Mikolas did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing six runs on 10 hits and two walks over five innings in a 9-6 win over the Rockies. He struck out three.
Mikolas surrendered five runs in each of his first two starts of the season, and he didn't fare any better Tuesday at Coors Field. The right-hander threw 59 of his 89 pitches for strikes and surrendered three home runs, all of which went beyond 420 feet. Mikolas inked a two-year, $40 million extension with the Cardinals late in spring training, but early in 2023 he's been unable to replicate the 3.29 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 153:39 K:BB he posted in 202.1 innings last year.

Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Fires quality start in no-decision
Freeland didn't factor in the decision Tuesday against the Cardinals after giving up two runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out five and walked two.
The left-hander was unable to secure his third straight win to begin the season as Colorado's bullpen blew a four-run lead, but it was still another strong showing Tuesday. Freeland is off to an impressive start through three outings in 2023 with a 0.96 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB across 18 frames.

Jordan Lyles RP | KC
Royals' Jordan Lyles: Allows four runs in no-decision
Lyles did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Rangers, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out four.
The veteran right-hander appeared headed for his third straight loss to open the campaign as Kansas City trailed 4-2 after seven innings, but the offense rallied over the final frames to force a 10th inning. Lyles has a 5.19 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB across 17.1 innings through his first three starts of the season.

Kyle Wright SP | CHC
Braves' Kyle Wright: Struggles in season debut
Wright struck out three and allowed four runs on four hits and four walks across seven three innings during Tuesday's 7-6 victory over the Reds. He did not factor in the decision.
After rehabbing a shoulder injury, Wright made his first start of the season but struggled with his command, leading to four walks and four earned runs in the third inning before being relieved. Despite the rough outing, the 27-year-old has a track record of success, finishing last season as the MLB leader in wins. Wright will have a chance to bounce back, taking a 12.00 ERA into his next start, tentatively scheduled for this weekend against the Royals.
