Cole Irvin RP | LAD
Orioles' Cole Irvin: Hit hard by former team
Irvin allowed six runs on five hits and a walk over 4.0 innings in Thursday's 8-7 win over the A's. He struck out four and didn't factor in the decision.
Irvin never seemed to find his footing Thursday, allowing six runs on five hits, including a three-run home run by Brent Rooker during the third inning. Irvin has struggled so far with Baltimore after being acquired from Oakland during the offseason -- he's 0-2 with a 10.66 ERA and a 1.97 WHIP in his first three starts.

Corey Kluber SP | BOS
Red Sox's Corey Kluber: Allows four runs in loss
Kluber (0-3) allowed five runs on four hits and a walk over 4.2 innings in Thursday's 9-3 loss to the Rays. He struck out seven.
Kluber allowed a leadoff home run to Yandy Diaz in the first inning. He then settled down to retire 11 of the next 12 batters. However, he stumbled in the fifth, allowing three runs after a Harold Ramirez double to lead off the inning. The veteran right-hander falls to 0-3 to start the season with a 6.92 ERA through 13 innings. Kluber tentatively lines up to make his next turn through the rotation early next week against the Twins.

Jeffrey Springs SP | ATH
Rays' Jeffrey Springs: Diagnosed with ulnar neuritis
Springs was diagnosed with left arm ulnar neuritis after leaving Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
In other words, he's dealing with inflammation in the ulnar nerve of his pitching arm which can cause a numbness or tingling sensation. The injury for Springs cropped up during the fourth inning Thursday after he gave up one run with five strikeouts over his first three frames. He will be re-evaluated Friday before more is known, but a stay on the injured list for Springs is almost surely coming. Taj Bradley looms as an obvious rotation replacement for Springs.

Jeffrey Springs SP | ATH
Rays' Jeffrey Springs: Exits start with injury
Springs was removed from Thursday's start versus the Red Sox with an apparent injury to his left hand/arm, Tom Caron of NESN reports.
Springs was seen flexing his hand after delivering a pitch in the top of the fourth inning. He threw one practice pitch after being visited by the trainer and Rays manager Kevin Cash but then immediately walked off the field. An update from the team on Springs' status should come shortly.

Noah Davis SP | PIT
Rockies' Noah Davis: Likely candidate for callup
Davis is the likeliest candidate to fill the vacant spot in the Rockies' starting rotation, Danielle Allentuck of the Denver Gazette reports.
German Marquez landed on the injured list Wednesday with right forearm inflammation and will miss at least two turns, though the Rockies don't need a fifth starter right away because of Thursday's scheduled off day. Davis, 25, holds a 4.26 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 6:7 K:BB through 12.2 innings (three starts) this season at Triple-A Albuquerque. He won't carry much streaming appeal if/when he does get the call.

Ross Stripling SP | KC
Giants' Ross Stripling: Makes second straight relief cameo
Stripling covered 3.1 innings of long relief in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to the Dodgers, striking out six while giving up two earned runs on two hits and two walks.
Given that he started Giants' third game of the season, Stripling appeared to be locked in as a full-time member of the rotation, but manager Gabe Kapler has surprising deployed the right-hander in relief his last two times out. Kapler hasn't clarified his plans for the rotation moving forward, and it's possible the fact that the Giants had one day off this week (Thursday) and last week (April 4) prompted the team to get by with five starters. Beginning Friday, the Giants will head into a stretch of 14 games in 14 days, so Kapler could look to reintegrate Stripling back into the rotation to afford the other five starters an additional day of rest. Stripling covered 65 pitches in Wednesday's relief appearance, so he should be able to give the Giants a decent amount of length if he's called upon to start again.

Ken Waldichuk SP | WAS
Athletics' Ken Waldichuk: Allows three runs in no-decision
Waldichuk did not factor in the decision Wednesday against the Orioles, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out four.
Despite giving up three walks for the second consecutive game, the rookie southpaw pitched 6.1 innings and delivered his first quality start of the campaign. Waldichuk is slated to start in the upcoming series against the Cubs next week as he remains in search of his first big-league win. The 25-year-old will need to improve his control and minimize the long ball, given his 10.20 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and seven homers allowed in three starts.

Kutter Crawford SP | BOS
Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Recalled from Triple-A
Crawford was recalled from Triple-A Worcester by the Red Sox on Thursday.
The 27-year-old was just optioned on Tuesday but is back two days later to replace the injured Zack Kelly (elbow). Crawford figures to be used in relief this time around after making two starts for the Red Sox earlier this season.
-
Shane Baz SP | BAL
Rays' Shane Baz: Transferred to 60-day IL
Baz was transferred to the 60-day injured list by the Rays on Thursday with a right elbow UCL tear, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Braden Bristo. Baz will be out until 2024 as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent late last September.
-
Taj Bradley SP | MIN
Rays' Taj Bradley: Optioned to Triple-A
Bradley was optioned to Triple-A Durham by the Rays on Thursday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Bradley pitched well in his major-league debut Wednesday versus the Red Sox, getting charged with three runs over five innings while striking out eight. It had seemed like he would be given at least one more start while Zach Eflin (back) continues to recover, but now he can't be recalled for 10 days, unless he's replacing an injured player.
