Zack Greinke SP | KC
Royals' Zack Greinke: Records another solid outing
Greinke did not factor in the decision against Detroit on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out five batters over five innings.
Greinke served up a solo homer to Riley Greene in the fourth frame but otherwise kept the Tigers off the scoreboard. The crafty veteran reached five strikeouts for the just the third time among his 11 starts, though two of those performances have come across his past three outings. Since giving up seven runs in 3.2 innings against Minnesota on April 27, Greinke has rebounded by yielding three or fewer earned runs over each of his subsequent five starts. Over that span, he's posted a solid 2.73 ERA, though he has only one win to show for it.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Tigers' Matthew Boyd: Pulled in fifth inning
Boyd allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Kansas City on Wednesday.
Boyd pitched quite well in the outing, but he began to fade in the fourth, allowing a run on a hit, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. When the left-hander let two more hitters reach base in the fifth, he was pulled after 86 pitches in favor of Will Vest, who retired Bobby Witt to keep Boyd from incurring additional damage. Boyd looked good when he was in the game, racking up 15 swings-and-misses and fanning six batters. This marked the first time all season he's finished a start having allowed fewer than two earned runs.

Bryce Miller SP | SEA
Mariners' Bryce Miller: Earns third win
Miller (3-1) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two hits and one walk over six scoreless innings against the Athletics. He struck out six.
Miller continued his stellar rookie season with six shutout innings, allowing just two singles. Miller has yet to surrender a home run in the majors and has a .123 batting average against. His ERA sits at a sparkling 1.15 after five starts. Miller has struck out 28 this season, but 16 of those have come in his two starts against Oakland. He has just 12 punchouts in 19.1 innings against other teams.

Ken Waldichuk SP | WAS
Athletics' Ken Waldichuk: Roughed up in bulk role
Waldichuk (1-4) took the loss Wednesday against Seattle. He allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven over 2.2 innings.
Oakland elected to use Austin Pruitt as an opener for Waldichuk. It didn't help, as Waldichuk was chased in the fourth inning after allowing eight of 10 batters to reach. The lefty has four appearances allowing at least four runs with just one outing surrendering two runs or fewer. He did pick up seven strikeouts, tying a season high.

Tony Gonsolin RP | KC
Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Sees scoreless streak end
Gonsolin allowed three runs on three hits and two walks whiles striking out four batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against Atlanta on Wednesday.
Gonsolin entered the contest having pitched 16 innings without allowing an earned run over his previous three starts, and he kept Atlanta off the scoreboard for three frames Wednesday. However, the scoreless streak ended with Matt Olson's mammoth solo homer in the fourth, and Marcell Ozuna added a two-run blast off the right-hander in the fifth. Gonsolin still pitched well overall -- he yielded just one hit aside from the long balls -- and his ERA remains sterling at 1.82. His next turn in the rotation is tentatively slated to be a home matchup against the Nationals.

Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Angels' Tyler Anderson: Picks up second win
Anderson (2-0) earned the win Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over six innings against the Red Sox. He struck out three.
Anderson was touched up by two doubles in the fourth inning. Otherwise he rolled through the Red Sox. Anderson posted six shutout innings in his first start of the season, but he struggled from there. His ERA after four starts in April was 5.74, but in May, his ERA is 3.68. His WHIP is still 1.55 in May, so his rebound could be short-lived. He has 30 strikeouts in 48.2 innings this season, meaning his ERA and WHIP need to improve to provide fantasy value.
-
James Paxton SP | BOS
Red Sox's James Paxton: Knocked around
Paxton (1-1) took the loss Wednesday, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks over three innings against the Angels. He struck out five.
Paxton surrendered just three runs across his first two starts of the season after missing the first six weeks with a hamstring issue, but he struggled Wednesday and recorded just nine outs. The 34-year-old's last full season was 2019, when he produced a 3.82 ERA and 186 strikeouts in 150.2 innings. However, he's made only nine starts since due to multiple injuries, making his reliability a question mark.
-
Sandy Alcantara SP | MIA
Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Picks up second win
Alcantara (2-5) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over six innings against the Rockies. He struck out three.
Alcantara gave up a run and two extra-base hits on the first six pitches of his night. He shut down the Rockies from there, only allowing another run on an Elias Diaz solo shot in the sixth. Alcantara has failed to live up to his phenomenal 2022 campaign. He has allowed at least two runs in nine of his 10 starts and has a career-high 4.86 ERA. His FIP sits at 3.58, implying he will improve, but he may not reach the dominance he had last season.

Bryce Elder SP | ATL
Braves' Bryce Elder: Limits LA to one run
Elder tossed six innings against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out six batters. He did not factor in the decision.
Elder allowed six batters to reach base through his first three frames but prevented Los Angeles from notching any runs. The Dodgers finally got to him in the fifth on a Mookie Betts solo homer, though that was all the run production they managed against the rookie over six innings. An eighth-inning LA rally kept Elder winless for the fourth straight outing despite the fact that he hasn't yielded more than two runs in any appearance during that stretch. The 24-year-old has been a revelation for both Atlanta and fantasy managers this season, as he's registered a 2.01 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 51:16 K:BB through 10 starts covering 58.1 frames.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Cubs' Marcus Stroman: Dazzles in Wednesday's win
Stroman (4-4) allowed two runs on four hits across eight innings to pick up the win Wednesday against the Mets. He walked two and struck out three.
Stroman needed only 88 pitches to complete eight innings, as he pitched efficiently and kept New York hitters off balance all night. The righty struggled two starts ago against the Twins, allowing six runs over 2.2 innings, but he's allowed just three total runs over 14 innings in his two subsequent outings. That's allowed Stroman to lower his season ERA to a strong 2.95. He'll look to keep rolling in his next appearance, which is tentatively set for Monday against the Rays.
