Ritchie allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out seven over five innings in a no-decision versus San Diego on Tuesday.

Ritchie wasn't particularly good in this performance, though the seven strikeouts matched his season high. He was at least able to keep the ball down better after giving up three home runs in his last start against the Giants. Ritchie has a 4.87 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 37:25 K:BB through 40.2 innings over eight games (seven starts). Despite the underwhelming numbers, Atlanta needs him in the rotation while the team waits for Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach and AJ Smith-Shawver to return from their respective elbow injuries. Ritchie is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus St. Louis and could continue to start through July as long as he shows some promise.

Canning allowed four runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two over two-thirds of an inning Tuesday versus Atlanta. He didn't factor in the decision.

This was penciled in as a bulk-relief outing, but Canning's poor showing to start the second inning took the bulk out of the conversation. He ended up being the pitcher with the fewest outs recorded for the Padres in this contest. It's another low mark in a season that has had few things to celebrate for the 30-year-old. Canning has a 7.38 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 43:26 K:BB through 42.2 innings over 10 appearances (eight starts). It's unclear how much longer he'll be an option in San Diego's rotation -- if JP Sears does well Wednesday, Canning could be the one to lose a starting role once German Marquez (forearm) is activated.

Ray (6-6) allowed one unearned run on two hits and four walks while striking out six over eight innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Athletics.

Ray had his longest start of the season despite the four walks, getting by on 102 pitches (59 strikes) before Caleb Kilian worked the ninth inning. This was a strong showing for Ray, who has allowed just six runs (five earned) over 25 innings across his four games in June. He had some struggles in late May after a strong start to the season, but Ray has mostly bounced back. For the year, he has a 3.70 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 80:42 K:BB through 87.2 innings over 16 outings (15 starts). The southpaw's next start is expected to come at home versus Atlanta this weekend. He tossed 6.1 scoreless innings of relief in the resumption of a suspended game versus Atlanta last week, but it's still a tough matchup.

Civale (5-4) allowed two runs on six hits and a hit batsman while striking out five without walking a batter over four innings to take the loss versus the Giants on Tuesday.

Civale wasn't all that efficient, but he threw 57 of 84 pitches for strikes in his second start back from shoulder tendinitis. The right-hander gave up both runs in the second inning, and the Athletics' offense had little response with just three hits for the game. Civale should be good for a full workload moving forward, though performance remains a concern. He's at a 4.88 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB through 62.2 innings over 13 starts this season. His next outing is projected to be a favorable road matchup versus the Angels this weekend.

Baz (4-8) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Angels.

Baz gave up a two-run home run to Nolan Schanuel in the first inning, and the Orioles never got enough going on offense to bail him out. The five earned runs allowed matched Baz's season high. He's given up 16 runs (11 earned) across 22.2 innings over his last four starts, going 1-3 in that span. For the season, he has a 4.31 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 81:35 K:BB across 94 innings through 16 starts. Baz is projected to make his next start at home versus the White Sox.

Sullivan (0-2) took the loss against Boston on Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits and five walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Sullivan was able to complete five frames for the first time as a big leaguer, but that's where the positives end. The southpaw put himself in constant danger by handing out five free passes, with two of the batters he walked eventually coming around to score. Sullivan was at least better than in his previous start, when he was rocked by the Cubs for eight runs over four innings, but his performances so far have given fantasy managers no reason to consider adding him to their rosters.

Messick (7-4) took the loss Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out 10 over 7.2 innings.

Messick gave Cleveland arguably the best start of his career Tuesday, as he threw 63 of his 95 pitches for strikes and generated an impressive 17 whiffs while racking up a career-high 10 strikeouts. The left-hander retired 11 of the first 12 batters he faced before Colson Montgomery delivered an RBI single to open the scoring. Messick later surrendered a solo homer to Miguel Vargas in the sixth, which ultimately proved to be the deciding run in a low-scoring contest. The outing continued an excellent stretch for the 25-year-old, who has now allowed two or fewer earned runs in seven of his last nine starts and has recorded 19 strikeouts over his last 13.2 innings. He'll carry a 2.67 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 101:29 K:BB into his next scheduled start at home against Texas.

Gray (9-1) earned the win over Colorado on Tuesday, allowing one run on six hits and three walks while striking out 11 batters over seven innings.

Gray was magnificent Tuesday, racking up 16 whiffs and a season-high 11 punchouts. It was particularly promising for his fantasy managers to see his swing-and-miss stuff working, as the veteran right-hander entered the contest with a career-low 7.1 K/9. Gray did give up another long ball -- his fifth across his past four starts -- but it was a solo shot that accounted for the only run Colorado scored while the hurler was in the game. Gray lowered his season ERA to 2.91 with the impressive performance, and he's tied for second in MLB with nine victories.

Burke (5-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Guardians, allowing one run on six hits and one walk while striking out six over 6.1 innings.

Burke kept Cleveland off the board through four innings, aided by stranding two runners in scoring position during the third, before the right-hander served up a solo homer to Kahlil Watson to lead off the fifth. Burke again escaped trouble later in the inning, stranding the bases loaded. The 25-year-old has now earned a win in three of his last four starts while recording 27 strikeouts during that span. Burke will carry a 3.71 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 87:30 K:BB into his next scheduled start on the road against Baltimore.

Leahy allowed three hits and issued two walks while striking out three batters over 6.1 scoreless innings in a no-decision against Arizona on Tuesday.

Leahy and Eduardo Rodriguez locked into a pitchers' duel for most of the contest, as each hurler pitched into the seventh frame without giving up any runs. It wasn't an overpowering performance by Leahy -- he collected just seven whiffs and three punchouts -- but it was by most measures his best outing of the campaign. The right-hander completed six innings just once across his first 13 appearances of the season, but he's now done so in both of his past two starts. Leahy will look to keep up the positive momentum his next time out, which is lined up to be a clash at home against Miami.
