Griffin Canning SP | SD
Padres' Griffin Canning: Following opener in St. Louis
Canning will serve as the Padres' primary pitcher Wednesday in St. Louis, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Canning has recorded a 10.12 ERA in the first inning this season and lefties are slashing .370/.475/.696 off him, so the Padres will avoid having the right-hander face lefties JJ Wetherholt and Alec Burleson in the first frame. Bradgley Rodriguez will take the ball first for the Padres on Wednesday as an opener.

Ramon Marquez SP | PHI
Phillies' Ramon Marquez: Bumped to High-A
Marquez was promoted from Single-A Clearwater to High-A Jersey Shore on Wednesday.
Marquez has been one of the top breakout pitchers in the lower levels of the minors this year. He flashed potential at the end of 2025 at Single-A, and returned to that level to log a 1.86 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 47:10 K:BB in 29 innings across six appearances. Marquez is on pace to finish the year as a top 100 prospect.

Troy Melton SP | DET
Tigers' Troy Melton: Looks ready to start Saturday
Melton (back) is listed as the Tigers' probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the White Sox in Detroit, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Detroit scratched Melton ahead of his previously scheduled start Monday in Houston after he experienced general back tightness leading up to the contest, but he's apparently recovered well from the injury over the past couple of days. The Tigers will have the luxury of managing Melton's workload Saturday if they want to go that route, as Keider Montero's recent move out of the rotation provides the team with another option in the bullpen who's capable of covering multiple innings. Melton has fared well thus far in his four starts for Detroit since returning from a season-opening stint on the injured list, turning in a 2.81 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB across 25.2 innings.

Foster Griffin SP | WAS
Nationals' Foster Griffin: Delivers quality start Tuesday
Griffin didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Royals, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six.
The 30-year-old lefty produced his second straight quality start and seventh of the season on 100 pitches (74 strikes), but Griffin saw his eighth win slip away when the Nationals' bullpen coughed up a two-run lead in the top of the seventh inning. Griffin has been locked in over his last five outings, posting a 1.93 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 26:5 K:BB though 28 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Phillies.

Zebby Matthews SP | MIN
Twins' Zebby Matthews: Goes seven innings in win
Matthews (3-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Rangers after allowing two runs on eight hits over seven innings. He struck out four without issuing a walk.
Matthews has been involved in the decision in each of his seven starts this season. This was a big bounce-back outing after he gave up seven runs on nine hits across six innings in a road loss to the Tigers the last time out. Matthews has five quality starts already and has pitched at least six frames in all but one of his seven appearances. He'll take a 4.78 ERA and 1.18 WHIP to his next start, scheduled for next week at home versus the Dodgers.

Kumar Rocker SP | TEX
Rangers' Kumar Rocker: Struggles vs. Minnesota
Rocker (2-6) was tagged with the loss Tuesday against the Twins after allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits -- including two home runs -- and two walks across 3.1 innings. He struck out four.
The six earned runs allowed established a new season-high mark for Rocker, who had given up two or fewer in five of his previous six outings. His inconsistencies on a game-to-game basis have hurt his appeal, as he's not a pitcher who can produce above-average strikeout rates or regularly pitch deep into games. He owns a 4.17 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 14 appearances (13 starts) and 69 innings in 2026. Rocker is in line to make his next start next week on the road against the Marlins.

Andre Pallante SP | STL
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Earns win, fans six
Pallante (8-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Padres after allowing two runs on four hits across seven innings. He struck out six without issuing a walk.
The six punchouts were Pallante's best output in that category since he fanned seven across 6.2 innings against the Royals on May 17. He has continued to provide length and strong performances when his name has been called of late. He's given up two earned runs or fewer in five of his last six starts, a stretch in which he's posted a 2.88 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 across 34.1 innings. He's lined up to make his next start Monday at home against the Diamondbacks.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Throws 82 pitches in rehab start
Woodruff (shoulder) allowed three runs over 5.1 innings while notching six strikeouts in a rehab start with High-A Wisconsin on Tuesday.
There's no word on what Woodruff's velocity was in the outing, but he got his pitch count up to 82. That leaves him sufficiently stretched out if the Brewers believe he's ready for his next start to be in the majors. Woodruff has yet to make a start this season on four days' rest, so the earliest he could rejoin the big-league rotation is likely Monday in Cincinnati. He's been shelved since late April with right shoulder inflammation.
-
Michael King SP | SD
Padres' Michael King: Lasts 4.1 innings Tuesday
King (4-6) was tagged with the loss Tuesday against the Cardinals after allowing three runs on five hits and three walks across 4.1 innings. He struck out one and hit a batter.
King posted a quality start in his previous outing against the Reds on June 10, but he struggled in this one and couldn't even get out of the fifth inning. The 31-year-old right-hander has allowed at least three earned runs in each of his last five starts, posting a 6.41 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 26.2 innings over that stretch. He's expected to make his next start at home against Atlanta next week.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Royals' Michael Wacha: Settles for quality start Tuesday
Wacha didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Nationals, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out three.
The veteran righty didn't get much run support early and left the mound after 90 pitches (65 strikes) headed for his sixth loss of the season, but Wacha got bailed out when Kansas City tied it up in the top of the seventh inning. The quality start was his 10th of the season, marking the fourth straight campaign in which he's reached double digits, but he's had a bumpy beginning to June, posting a 5.30 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB in 18.2 innings over three starts. Wacha will look for his first win since May 9 in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week in Tampa Bay.
