Flaherty (back), who received an injection Monday and is scheduled to play catch Wednesday, is expected to start this weekend against the Astros if he remains free of setbacks, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old exited his start last Tuesday due to back tightness and originally lined up to make his next turn through the rotation Tuesday versus Washington, but his spot has been pushed back a few days. Flaherty's throwing session Wednesday should provide some clarity for his availability this weekend.

Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that Williamson is considering undergoing season-ending surgery to remove a lesion from his left shoulder, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Williamson has been out all season with shoulder problems and was recently pulled off a rehab assignment because of recurring discomfort. While the lefty would be done for the season if he opts to go under the knife, it's unclear what a timetable would look like if he decides against surgery.

The Brewers selected Rodriguez's contract from Triple-A Nashville ahead of his start against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Manager Pat Murphy confirmed after Monday's win over Toronto that Rodriguez would be making his MLB debut Tuesday, and the right-hander has now officially been added to the big-league roster. The 22-year-old has a 4.90 ERA and 4.1 BB/9 over 68 innings with Nashville this season, though he's given up just 12 runs with a 47:11 K:BB in his past seven outings.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Senga (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday and will throw another one Wednesday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

It's the first time Senga has thrown from the bump since he had to be shut down due to right triceps tightness. The hurler originally landed on the injured list due to a shoulder injury and is not expected back until after the All-Star break. Senga will need multiple rehab starts before returning, but it's not clear when he might be ready to pitch in games.

The Diamondbacks promoted Diaz from Double-A Amarillo to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Diaz is now one stop shy of the big leagues, as he'll head to Reno after punching out 77 batters in 54 innings at Amarillo. While he showcased exceptional strikeout stuff, the 23-year-old went 3-5 with a 4.33 ERA across 11 starts in Double-A this season. He's considered one of the Diamondbacks' top pitching prospects.

The Twins recalled Varland from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday.

Varland will make a spot start Tuesday against the Rockies as the Twins give the regular members of their rotation some extra rest. The right-hander holds a disappointing 9.18 ERA and 18:9 K:BB across 16.2 innings this season in the majors. Varland has posted a 5.31 ERA at St. Paul but has fanned 44 batters over 40.2 frames. He's likely to be sent back down immediately after Tuesday's outing.

Senzatela (elbow) threw what he termed as a "touch-and-feel" bullpen session at Busch Stadium on Saturday, MLB.com reports.

The bullpen session represents Senzatela's first known mound work since he underwent Tommy John surgery last July. The Rockies haven't ruled out Senzatela from coming off the 60-day injured list and pitching for the big club at some point later in the season, though even if the remaining steps of his rehab program go smoothly, he may not have sufficient time to get fully ramped up for a starting role.

Freeland (elbow) is scheduled to make his next rehab start Wednesday at Triple-A Albuquerque, MLB.com reports.

After tossing two scoreless innings in his first rehab outing Saturday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, Freeland will move up to the Rockies' top affiliate and will presumably push up his pitch count Wednesday. The veteran southpaw will likely require an additional rehab start or two after Wednesday's outing but should be on track to return from the 60-day injured list before the end of June.

Manoah won't require a traditional Tommy John surgery and is instead slated to undergo a hybrid internal brace procedure Monday to repair the sprained UCL in his right elbow, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider had previously disclosed Friday that Manoah would require a season-ending elbow surgery, but Davidi's report provides more specificity regarding the nature of the procedure. Renowned arm specialist Dr. Keith Meister is set to perform the procedure, which involves replacing the UCL and anchoring the new UCL to an internal brace suture. Though the internal brace procedure typically shortens the length of a pitcher's recovery compared to the 12-to-18-month timeline for Tommy John surgery, Davidi notes that Manoah is still expected to be on the shelf "well into next year." The significant arm injury further muddles Manoah's long-term outlook with the Blue Jays, which had already been somewhat murky following a disastrous 2023 campaign in which he posted a 5.87 ERA and 14.2 percent walk rate over 87.1 innings.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said prior to Monday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays that Gasser (elbow) is unlikely to return from the injured list this season, Steve Megargee of the Associated Press reports. "[Wade] Miley, Gasser and [Brandon Woodruff], you're probably not going to see," Murphy said. "It would probably be safe to say those three are out for the year."

Gasser was placed on the IL on June 5 with a left flexor strain, and though the rookie hasn't yet settled on a treatment plan for the injury, Murphy said that he's pessimistic Gasser will pitch again this season regardless of whether he undergoes surgery or opts for more extended rest and rehab. Since sustaining the injury coming out of his June 1 start against the White Sox, Gasser has sought two medical opinions on his elbow and is set to get another in the coming days when he meets with Dr. Keith Meister in Dallas. According to Murphy, one of the doctors has recommended that Gasser undergo a reconstruction surgery for the elbow, but it's unclear if the second opinion Gasser received from Dr. Neal ElAttrache concurred with that assessment. The Brewers will likely provide an update on how Gasser plans to treat the injury after Dr. Meister gets a chance to evaluate his elbow.
